Dzonot Cave

Dzonot Cave is a medium-sized cave west of the Imperial City containing bandits. It contains two zones: Dzonot Cave and Dzonot Main Cavern.

Notes[edit]

Bugs[edit]

  • Over 30 items outside the cave are duplicated, causing two items to exist in exactly the same space. This can lead to odd effects, such as picking up an apple but seeing another apple in the same position.

Exterior[edit]

Zone 1: Dzonot Cave[edit]

Dzonot Cave

This zone is very linear; the path takes the rough form of a spiral. You enter the cave in a crevasse on the lower of two levels. At least one enemy will be on the ledges above, so sneaking through the canyon is a good idea unless you enjoy the smash-and-run approach to dungeon crawling. Soon after entering the cave, you will come across a Tripwire trigger at D which activates a Swinging Log trap at E. Following the crevasse east to the end, you may discover an Orc Adventurer (O); this will make stealth in the subsequent sections more difficult, as the Orc is likely to be spotted by the hostile inhabitants.

Turn south to enter a room with two enemies guarding two minor loot chests. You will often hear the enemies before you see them, as they ease their boredom by talking. Proceeding through the passage to the west, you will encounter another enemy protecting a minor loot chest near the skeletal remains of a previous adventurer. One or two more enemies lurk to the north, usually guarding the bridge across the crevasse. Continue north and east past another minor loot chest to the exit to Dzonot Main Cavern at C.

Occupants:

  • 1 Orc Adventurer (25% chance of appearing) at location O on map
  • 2 Bandit Enemies (each 50% probability melee , 25% archer Bandit, 12% Dog, 12% Nuisance Animal)
  • 1 archer Bandit
  • 1-2 melee Bandits

  • 1 bedroll at location b on map

Zone 2: Dzonot Main Cavern[edit]

Dzonot Main Cavern

This zone takes the form of one large chamber that curves in the shape of a question mark from the perspective of someone at the entrance. A maximum of only three bandits guard the chamber, one of whom is the boss-level bandit. If possible, try to kill the regular bandits first. One bandit may be directly in front of you when you enter the chamber, and the next will be to your right; sneaky ranged attacks should take care of them. You may then dispatch the stronger bandit in relative safety. The boss chest and three minor loot chests are your reward.

Occupants:

  • 1 boss-level Bandit at location A on map
  • 1 archer Bandit
  • 0-1 melee Bandit

Treasure:

Doors and Gates:

  • There is one door (at C) in/out of this zone, leading to the zone Dzonot Cave

Other:

  • 3 bedrolls at locations b on map
