Gogan in Anvil

Gogan is a Redguard warrior living in the western corner of Anvil with his wife Maelona. He's a member of the Anvil City Watch. Together with his wife, Gogan was working undercover in an attempt to catch the beautiful Faustina Cartia and the other sirens who lure married men up to Gweden Farm and rob them blind. But even though he went into The Flowing Bowl with the best and most honest intentions, the Sirens still managed to seduce him and lure him up to the farm where they robbed him of everything, including all of his clothing and worst of all, his wife's family heirloom. During the related quest you'll have to sort things out with the sirens to save Gogan’s reputation as well as his marriage.

After the embarrassing incident, Gogan tries to keep a low profile. After waking up at 6am, he takes a three hour breakfast with his wife and then strolls around the house for most of the day. At 8pm he takes an evening walk in the streets of Anvil before returning home for his bedtime at midnight. The exception to this routine is during the related quest's final stages, where he will show up at Gweden Farm and reveal his true identity.

He wears a burgundy linen shirt, matching linens, and thick cowhide shoes. He carries around a copy of The Eastern Provinces, his house key, a cheese wedge, and a small amount of gold. When you meet him at Gweden Farm, he will be wearing a full set of armor: Anvil cuirass, chainmail boots, gauntlets, greaves and a guard helmet as well as a shield and a steel longsword.

He owns a small two-story house near the dock gate in Anvil which is kept unlocked. Items of interest include a nice selection of wines in the room to the right as you enter the house, along with some ingredients on the table and in the cupboard. Upstairs in the bedroom, lots of upper-class clothing can be found in the two sets of drawers and in the cupboard. On top of the cupboard is a chest with an easy lock, which may contain two items of leather armor. There is another locked chest on the landing behind the stairs, which may contain some gold.

As he works undercover for the City Watch, he will casually deny any knowledge about the city of Anvil: "Sorry, I’m new in town. Don’t know a soul." After the related quest is completed, he will still be very ashamed: "Do me a favor. Don’t say anything to the other guards that I fell for it, okay? Thanks.", "Everyone’s making fun of me because I fell for the siren’s charms. Well, now I have the last laugh!" and "They still aren’t letting me live this down."And if you ask around town, you will understand what he means: ”You hear about Gogan? A gang of thieves is running a scam in town, and he fell for it! Hahaha... What an idiot!”

Naturally, his wife isn't too impressed by her husband either: "Believe me, he'll need all the help he can get to worm his way out of this one. To think he'd fall for the gang's scheme... agh! I could kill him!" and "Take for example that good-for-nothing husband of mine, Gogan. He cared more about their charms than my own."

[edit] Notes

  • There are actually two different versions of Gogan. Before he meets you at Gweden Farm his character is identified as "Gogan" (RefID 0003AF04 , FormID 0003AF03 ), but once he arrives he is identified as "GoganGuard" (RefID 0003B3D6, BaseID 0003B3D3). The two versions of Gogan have the same statistics, but have different inventories (as noted above) and belong to different factions: "GoganGuard" does not belong to "Gogan's Family" faction.
