This article provides Oblivion Gates gripes, as part of the Game Content section of the Gripes article.

Gripe After a while the oblivion worlds become very boring and end up becoming very repetitive. You never (or almost never) meet other NPCs who may have stumbled into one (unless it's part of a quest), and absolutely no character development occurs (unless you level up). You do find dead people in oblivion, charred remains, etc., but you never find any back-story explaining what occurred, such as journals, books, and notes, which would help increase the immersion. Also the number of worlds is far too small, 7 is simply not adequate. Try 15, with numerous routes to the objective in most if not all of them (and not just two, try 5+), then there wouldn't be any issue.

Reply Remember that Oblivion isn't exactly a tourist destination. One could probably number, on one hand, the amount of people who have entered Dagon's realm before the gates started opening. And character development? What are you gonna do, become good friends with a clannfaer? As for evidence, remember that this world is about 90% fire and lava, so chances are that any evidence or notes left there probably burned away ages ago. Your gripe about needing more routes to the objective makes no sense, there are numerous routes throughout every realm.
Reply Yes, they are repetitive, but I do not really imagine Mehrunes Dagon wanting to make them particularly creative. As the above stated, you are not here to see the sights, you are here to get the sigil stone and get out.
Reply For journals and notes, what do you expect? "Oh no, I'm being attacked by a scary monster when I have no combat abilities" or "Oh no, I fell into lava, my leg is on fire, help"?
Reply There are 7 random worlds, along with one for each city, and the Great Gate, which is far from similar to any of the others.

Gripe Also one player noted that after clearing an Oblivion Gate he then entered another, which was the same world which he had just cleared except with different loot.

Reply One cannot "clear" a realm of Oblivion. Daedra respawn, fleshy pods are renewed (I don't want to know how), if one gate is closed then Dagon can just rebuild the tower, pop in another sigil stone, and open a new gate, even if it is opened right next to the old one.
Reply Why would Dagon even make paths? He's so freakin' huge, he could easily take five steps and leave.

Gripe One can simply enter a Gate, rush to the top of the tower and grab the Sigil Stone and escape without killing anything. Part of the main quest confirms that this may indeed be the preferred method.

Reply If someone is willing to waste an entire oblivion plane just for the sigil stone, skipping all the loot and combat experience, that is his right. If you bought the game, you have the right to play it the way you want.
Reply If you have no experience with Oblivion planes, you probably can't just run up to the tallest tower and grab the Sigil Stone. There are guys with keys, traps, and fireballs shooting at you from every direction! If you are forced to stop and fight one enemy (e.g., to get a key), everyone chasing you will catch up.
Reply I can't recall a single Oblivion gate that required me to find a "key", unless story involved.
Reply You are never required to get a key. There are, however, "Sigil keepers" who carry a key to the Sigil room, if you do not want to, or cannot, pick the lock to gain access to the Sigil Stone.
Gripe Ok an entire world of molten earth and fire. Oceans of lava. And at some level( like 10-15 or something) what is the most common enemy? An Ice elemental(atronach). Um how does this make sense? Please tell me. Also where are the endless hordes of Oblivion??? There are like 20 creatures outside the tower in EVERY oblivion gate. Also where are the "demon" creatures, and dont tell me they arent demon they're daedra, cuz they are the same thing. I see elementals and dinosaurs. Where is the giant winged dog faced red skinned demon lord type creature? Granted the dremora are perfect they are my favorite enemies.
Reply The Ice atronachs? Yes, that was a bit stupid. The endless hordes? uh... I'm guessing they're somewhere else training to take over Tamriel... seriously, do you not see the problem with having thousands of daedra attacking you at once? And uh... demons and daedra are not the same thing, I have no idea what could lead you to make such a conclusion.
Reply It is natural to associate daedra with demons because they're horrible evil monsters who hate mankind and come from a world of suffering and fire. Also, they are referred to as demons in the game world. "It is improper, however customary, to refer to the denizens of the dimension of Oblivion as “demons.” This practice probably dates to the Alessian Doctrines of the First Era prophet Marukh -- which, rather amusingly, forbade “trafficke with daimons” and then neglected to explain what daimons were." from On Oblivion by Morian Zenas.
Reply Not all daedric planes are made of fire and doom. Azura, Hermaeus mora, Malacath, all of them have unique realms. Its just that Dagon, aka, the Prince of Destruction, chose to have his realm look like the nightmare of firey death that it is. You have to remember, colloquial slang usually isn't accurate. Demons arent Daedra.
Reply I don't recall a rule stating that demons HAD to look like anything...
