Martina Floria, an Imperial sorcerer, is a Wizard of the Mages Guild who offers Master Training in Illusion and Recharging services at the Arcane University.
Martina is a real night owl. Starting at 10pm and through the whole night, she can be found pacing restlessly around the ground floor of the University's Chironasium, offering her services the whole time. In the early afternoon, at 2pm, she finally heads to bed on the second floor for eight hours of sleep.
She wears the standard mage's robe, but no shoes. She also carries the key to the Enchanting Center and a sizable amount of gold. She doesn't wield any weapons, relying instead on a set of leveled spells from all of the magical schools but Mysticism.
The first time you meet her, she will introduce herself and her services: "Martina Floria, Master Enchanter for the Mages Guild. Welcome to the Chironasium. Enchanting, isn't it?" Unlike most of her colleagues at the Arcane University, she actually likes the city: "I like cities, and this is the biggest and the best. All races, cultures, cuisines, crafts... the City has them all." If you have started the quest, she will make you an offer: "Hmm. A trade is in order, don't you think? My services in exchange for... oh, let's say ten Welkynd Stones. I'd say that's fair. Let me know when you have them." And when you bring her the stones, she will be delighted: "Ah, ten Welkynd Stones. Most useful for my research. Thank you. And now, I am at your service."
[edit] Illusion Master Training
Both Carahil and Kud-Ei will provide you the master training reference necessary to start this quest, even though the latter doesn't actually offer Advanced training.
Martina requires 10 Welkynd Stones in order to begin training. The Welkynd Stone article provides a complete list of locations where Welkynd Stones can be found. Note that Welkynd Stones do not respawn without the Knights of the Nine plugin, and are therefore a limited resource. If you have already used up all the available Welkynd Stones, you will be unable to receive training without using either the Console or the duplicate items glitch.
Since she never leaves the Chironasium, it is impossible to receive training unless you are an Apprentice of the Mages Guild, and have therefore access to the University. It is also impossible if you are permanently expelled from the guild.
[edit] Quest Stages
- Notes
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage quest stage. Wherequestis the internal name of the quest, andstageis the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
[edit] Bugs
- The game sometimes removes a wrong number of Welkynd Stones from the player's inventory if they don't stack properly. To fix, drop them on the floor by removing them from inventory. Any stones that do not stack properly will drop separately from the rest of the pile. Pick them all up again and all of them will be merged into a single pile. The game may also become confused if you have both stolen and legally acquired welkynd stones in your inventory (there is at least one welkynd stone that is set as owned and can be stolen by the PC).
