[edit] Detailed Walkthrough
[edit] Modryn Oreyn
When Ajum-Kajin dies at Modryn Oreyn's house in Chorrol, Modryn Oreyn tells you the next step is to infiltrate the Blackwood Company and its ranks so you can investigate the answer to the final question.
[edit] Jeetum-Ze
Travel to the Blackwood Company Hall in Leyawiin. Speak to Jeetum-Ze about joining the Blackwood Company. He will be suspicious at first as he has heard of your exploits with the Fighters Guild, but he shrugs it off, remembering that several guild members have defected to the Company recently. Follow him to the Training Room to get your first mission. He will give you a potion called Hist Sap and will begin to explain its origins. He explains that the Hist came from his homeland. However, when asked the question "You smuggle hist sap?" he reveals that the Blackwood Company has supposedly brought a hist tree back into Cyrodiil. He will then instruct you to "drink up and get going" so drink the sap and you will receive a journal update saying that you feel a strange effect coming over you, after which you will be transported to Water's Edge.
[edit] Water's Edge
Assist the other company members in killing all of the Goblins around the settlement. One of the other Company members will then tell you to look in the houses.
You may notice that the goblins don't really behave like goblins. For example, they will not attack you. If you start to suspect what is really going on, you don't have to "clean out" the houses. If you go far enough from the settlement, you will be relocated to Oreyn and may continue as described (in the construction set this option is labeled "ran away like a punk").
[edit] Investigation
After you have killed all of the Goblins or have fled the scene, you will be transported to Modryn Oreyn's house. Speak to Oreyn and he will tell you that his men found you unconscious in the streets of Leyawiin. Upon hearing your story he will be deeply concerned and will tell you to to go back to Water's Edge to find out what happened to the residents.
Travel to Water's Edge: it lies along the road north of Leyawiin. You will find the town scattered with bodies, those you and the other members took to be goblins and killed while under the influence of the Hist Sap. Find and speak to Marcel Amelion. He mourns the death of his daughter, who was part of an earlier Fighters Guild quest, Amelion's Debt.
[edit] Quest Complete
Return to Oreyn's house in Chorrol and speak to him to complete the quest. He assures you that it was not your fault, and proceeds to explain the next step.
[edit] Notes
- Talking to Jeetum-Ze while he's on the stairs may prevent him from continuing down to the basement. This can be rectified by striking him once and leading him off the stairs before yielding.
- For those who have low morals: you can attack Marcel Amelion with no consequence, and, since he cannot die, it is a great way to improve skills like Hand To Hand or Destruction.
- A glitch might happen when you return to Water's Edge which makes the bodies of the people you killed drift backwards in the same direction while standing still, and that's sort of scary when it happens because they look like ghosts with an accusing glance. They can still be looted though.
- It is also possible that one of the Blackwood Company Members who accompanied you to Water's Edge initially may remain in the settlement. They will be hostile upon seeing you.
- Another glitch at Water's Edge when you return is that the bodies are changed into standing sheep (they are not in their death position). They do not move and can be looted (for mutton). Marcel Amelion stands mourning over the sheep with no daughter's or villagers' body to be found. In rare cases, the bodies may also be standing, but treated by the game as dead.[verification needed -- see talk page]
- It is possible that the game controls may remain locked after Jeetum-Ze presents you with your mission briefing (the game will lock you into cinematic mode while Jeetum-Ze addresses your group). The only known fix is to reload a previous save.
- If you are playing as an Argonian when you consume the Hist sap, it will still affect you as if you were any other race, despite the fact that Argonians are supposedly immune to the sap's effects. This may be due to the fact that it is considered "bad Hist sap from a sick tree" however, and thus has abnormal effects.
- Even though the "goblins" are supposed to be humans, they can still be soul trapped with ordinary soul gems.
[edit] Journal Entries
- Notes
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage quest stage. Wherequestis the internal name of the quest, andstageis the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
