[edit] Corpses

  • At the bottom of the cliff below Dive Rock is the broken body of a dead man. Searching his body will reveal a note from his daughter, warning him to be careful climbing the mountain, as he is quite clumsy. Apparently his daughter's caution was well-placed.
  • When adventuring you may encounter dead Goblins clutching bottles of alcohol that have apparently drunk themselves to death. There are several spread across Cyrodiil:
One lying under an empty beer keg in the Crayfish Soggy Bottom section of Crayfish Cave.
One on top of an archway in the Lost Boy's Hidden Bastion section of Lost Boy Cavern with several beer bottles on the floor underneath.
One lying on the rocks outside of Infested Mine clutching a beer bottle.
One in the Horn Cave section of Horn Cave.
One in the Toadstool Hollow section of Toadstool Hollow lying in a barrel.
One in the Fort Rayles Hall of Winter section of Fort Rayles lying in a hole.
  • After completing the Dark Brotherhood quest Permanent Retirement in which you murder Adamus Phillida, his bodyguard will commit suicide. This typically occurs the next time you visit Leyawiin. On the bodyguard's corpse you will find a suicide note explaining the reason for his untimely demise. Funnily enough, he will respawn a few days after he commits suicide.
  • As everyone knows, Oblivion has no children in it. However, there are two places where the skeletons of children can be found: one is Fort Cuptor, where a skeleton is in a tiny coffin on a table in a room down the hall to the right of the entrance; the other is in the room beneath Bravil where you meet the Night Mother at the end of the Dark Brotherhood questline, where there are five skeletons of babies strewn in front of the altar on which the Night Mother's skeleton is placed. How these skeletons got here or where they came from is a mystery; it may point to a theory that the developers had originally intended on including children in the game but later decided against it some time after the addition of these skeletons.

[edit] Unique Items/Monsters

The Giant Enemy Mudcrab of Greenmead Cave.
The Giant Enemy Mudcrab of Greenmead Cave.
  • A Giant Mudcrab lives within the depths of Greenmead Cave. It has the same strength as a regular crab and drops no special items. This is not a reference to the "giant enemy crab" from Sony's showing at E3 2006, as some have theorized, since Oblivion was released in March '06 while the E3 in question occurred only in May of the same year.
  • A giant Nirnroot grows somewhere in the vicinity of the "k" in "Skingrad" and another near the "h" in "Kvatch." Two more can be found around the pond near Shardrock.
  • In Fathis Aren's Tower, there is a water-filled pit that is home to numerous slaughterfish, the same pit used to move behind Aren's locked door in the Arrow of Extrication quest for the Thieves Guild. Swimming to the bottom of this shaft, you will come in contact with a Giant Slaughterfish, from which numerous items may be taken once slain.
  • A giant skull lies at the base of a statue at the back of Fort Redman.
  • In Lazare Milvan's basement is a unique rat. It has 5 times the health of a normal rat and does 50% more damage than most rats. In the construction set the rat is identified as "TestBasementRat" and therefore may have been added for testing purposes and never removed.
  • Within Mankar Camoran's Paradise, behind the large hill with the grotto, lies an island with a chest guarded by a spectral mudcrab. It is larger and stronger than your average mudcrab and, like all ghosts, cannot be killed with normal weapons.

[edit] Objects

  • The second room past the entrance of Arkved's Tower is full of furniture stuck to the ceiling. The items on the tables and shelves may be knocked down by hitting them with any projectile or object, such as shooting an arrow or spell at them - a testament to the poor quality of glue used in the room (though it's really caused by the collision triggering the physics). With sufficiently high Acrobatics, it is possible to jump and then "sit down" on one of the upside down chairs. Attempting to get up from the chair will result in the player being displaced to outside the level.
  • Within Frostcrag Spire (added by the Wizard's Tower plugin), a large Frost Atronach may be seen in the ice from which the large frozen hand protrudes by standing on the ice and casting a fire spell at it.
  • Returning to the Imperial Sewers area in which Uriel Septim VII was assassinated will reveal a candle-lit memorial. The room also contains a small table, upon which rests a Mythic Dawn robe and pair of sandals. A larger table is also present, spattered with blood and scored by the marks of the dagger laying upon such, near a missive concerning the assassins. There may also be a dead Assassin lying across the table. This area will be traversed during the Dark Brotherhood quest Scheduled for Execution, and may be viewed then.
  • Once the Fighters Guild quest line is complete, you will be prompted to appoint Modryn Oreyn as your second in command. Doing so will lead him to comments that he has enjoyed his time off, having become a better painter in his retirement. His "painting" may be viewed on the easel in the corner of his room, depicting the interrogation of Ajum-Kajin in the Information Gathering quest.
  • The figures in the Arena poster match those of the pictures depicting the Archer, Knight, Mage, and Battlemage that are shown when choosing a class.
