Mehrunes Dagon

Mehrunes Dagon is the Daedric Prince of Destruction, Change, Revolution, Energy, and Ambition. He is associated with natural dangers like fire, earthquakes, and floods. He is an especially important deity in Morrowind, where he represents its near-inhospitable terrain. In some cultures, though, Dagon is merely a god of bloodshed and betrayal. Dagon's plane of Oblivion is known as Deadlands.

It is said that Mehrunes Dagon is too powerful for a mortal to kill, so only an invincible creature can destroy him. Therefore, only deities such as Akatosh have the ability to destroy Mehrunes Dagon.

For more information, see the article on Mehrunes Dagon.

In Oblivion, Mehrunes Dagon is the Daedric Prince behind the entire Oblivion Crisis. For most of the main questline Dagon remains behind the scenes; his followers (such as Mankar Camoran and the Mythic Dawn) are more directly responsible for most of the events. However, Dagon does finally appear in person during the quest Light the Dragonfires, where he is the final obstacle preventing Martin Septim from being crowned. Dagon must be avoided (even though he cannot be killed) in order to enter the Temple of the One.

[edit] Notes

  • He cannot be killed by mortals; the most that can be achieved by attacking him is to stagger him. Attacking him (eg. using a weapon to physically assault him) will simply result in a short stun to him. This will only be temporary however, and should not be confused with actually damaging him.
  • If the 'kill' console command is used on him, Mehrunes Dagon seems to fall apart and "melt".
  • If Wabbajack is used against him, his appearance does not change but his statistics will become those of another creature, making him easier to kill.
  • It is also possible to kill him with a Damage Fatigue or Absorb Fatigue spell, or a weapon enchanted with them.
  • Also, he can be killed while having the Reflect Damage effect on yourself, although it may take a while.
