|
[edit] Quick Walkthrough

- Journey to and through Crowhaven until you reach an Old Wooden Door. Open it with the key Agronak gave you to find Lord Lovidicus.

- Return to Agronak with the journal to receive a nice stat-raising reward.
[edit] Detailed Walkthrough
[edit] The Origin
Speak to Agronak gro-Malog in the Arena Bloodworks about "The Gray Prince" to begin the quest. He asks you to find proof of his noble birth, marks the location of Crowhaven on your map and gives you a mysterious key, but he is unsure what it opens. Journey to Crowhaven (northwest of Anvil) to begin your search. Bring cure disease potions or spells if possible as you may catch something from one of the denizens of this forlorn place.
Enter Crowhaven - the presence of evil is unmistakable - and explore, killing all in your path until you find the locked "Old Wooden Door" (gro-Malogs' mysterious key will open it) and continue inside. You'll eventually find Lord Lovidicus who will attack you on sight. Dispose of him and continue on, exploring the area to find several chests, various small treasures, and the journal of the recently departed Lord Lovidicus on a table. If you sneak, no fighting is necessary. Only the journal is needed; take it, and leave if you choose.
[edit] Reward
Return with the journal to Agronak gro-Malog in the Arena Bloodworks, and receive the Gray Prince's Training (permanent +3 to Blade, Block and Athletics) as your reward. Note that this training is treated as a permanent ability by the game and does not count toward leveling up, unlike most other free skill boosts.
After Agronak trains you he will read the journal. He will be totally horrified at his vampire origins, so much in fact, that he will be completely convinced that he is a spawn of evil and does not deserve to live. As a result, he will not fight back when you fight him at the end of the Arena Quest.
[edit] Notes
- If you later challenge Agronak in the Arena he won't attack, wanting to be killed instead because of his vampiric origin. See Grand Championship for details. This can be exploited to raise many skills by adjusting the difficulty to maximum. He can even be healed with magic when his health starts to get low, so this could continue indefinitely.
- If you completed the quest, but don't want the Gray Prince's Training ability messing up your stats, you can get rid of it (on the PC version) with the console command
player.removespell CBF19. - It is possible to yield to Lord Lovidicus but the respite is short-lived. He will say "Release! Sweet Release! After all these years, these decades, I am finally free! And you! So... so fresh! I must feed! I must feed! Agghhhhh!" and resume combat.
- He also has unique combat dialog, saying "I have not eaten in decades... YOU will be my feast! Rrragh!" , "Food!'".
- Lord Lovidicus can be damaged by luring him outside into the sun. He temporarily gets a red glow, and his skin steams. However, sun damage is apparently applied differently than on the player - rather than updated every second, it is only applied once when he steps outside. Therefore, it is impossible to kill him using the sun.
[edit] Bugs
- Killing Agronak in the Arena after completing this quest will be counted as a murder by the game as he is a non-evil NPC who does not attack the player (though this will not result in a bounty only because there are no other actual NPC's in the Arena at the time) so if you have not murdered anyone before completing this quest line, it will attract the attention of the Dark Brotherhood. However, killing him in the Arena without completing this quest line will NOT attract the Brotherhood's attention.
This bug is fixed by the Unofficial Oblivion Patch.
- Lord Lovidicus is a vampire (he has all of a vampire's bonuses and abilities), however it is not possible to catch Porphyric Hemophilia from him. He does not leave Vampire Dust on his dead body.
This bug is fixed by the Unofficial Oblivion Patch.
[edit] Journal Entries
- Notes
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage quest stage. Wherequestis the internal name of the quest, andstageis the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
