Oblivion:Random Oblivion World 2

This is one of seven random Oblivion worlds; in addition, the Oblivion gate in front of Chorrol always connects to this world.

When you step out of the gate the main tower is directly in front of you, surrounded by six additional towers. The main tower in this world is always the Portals of Natural Disaster. The peripheral towers are:

  • Eruption: NE tower
  • Earthquake: E tower
  • Landslide: SE tower
  • Tsunami: NW tower
  • Hurricane: W tower
  • Tornado: SW tower

You can walk straight to the main tower, but there is no ground level entrance to it. Also, if you try to explore around the base of the tower, you will quickly discover that there are four war gates that prevent you from accessing areas adjacent to the tower. What can be accessed are four of the peripheral towers (all towers except Earthquake and Hurricane).

Each war gate is opened by a control at the top of the adjacent, similarly named tower (although the gate controls in the towers are all mislabeled). There is also a door at the top of each tower but it does not really help you: it leads to a single level in the main tower, which only provides access to the four corner towers. Once you have opened at least one war gate, you will then have access to Earthquake or Hurricane; either of these two towers then gets you into a new level of the main tower. Alternatively, once you use one of these four towers to make it to the Portals of Natural Disaster tower, you can just jump down a level to the Rending Halls door if your Acrobatics is high enough.

From there, it is the usual layout of going through side halls to ascend the tower until you reach the Sigillum Sanguis. Watch out for three particularly dangerous-looking guillotine traps in the Rending Halls. There is no need to descend to the bottom level of the tower unless you want to collect some extra loot from two of The Punished.

It is also possible to avoid any of the 4 peripheral towers, and leave the gates closed provided you dont mind a short swim in lava. This can be accomplished by running around the backside of the Tornado tower on the right, and taking a short swim through lava to the Hurricane tower. It is also possible, with high Acrobatics to jump over this small section of lava and reach the land on the other side of the gate

Other than the Bonus Area, the surface has relatively little loot. However, there are a large number of plants to be harvested and creatures to be confronted. If you really feel like exploring, there are also a large number of empty islands (no loot, creatures, or plants) that can be accessed if you can survive a brief swim through the lava.

[edit] Bonus Area

There is a hidden bonus area in this world containing two leveled weapons and some boss-level loot. This bonus area is always present; you do not need to enter from the Chorrol gate and you do not need to be on the Allies for Bruma quest. Also, it is there even if you have already been through this world before, making it possible to acquire multiple copies of the leveled weapons.

The hidden area is in the eighth tower, Embers of Hatred, which is the collapsing tower directly to your north when you first come through the Oblivion gate. To get into the tower, though, you need to go through a hidden cave. Circle east of the tower, then head northwest, following the chain of islands. Some swimming in lava is necessary to hop between some of the islands. On the northwestern-most island (map) is a cave entrance that does NOT appear on your map; you will have to find it yourself. The door is in a cliff right next to the lava at the eastern side of that island. It is very well hidden but may be easier to find it if you follow the chain of island going northeast of the tower as you will eventually look right at the door across a stretch of lava. Taking the eastern route may be impossible without water-walking as you will have to do multiple long lava-crossings it is on lava level when you are trying to reach the island. From afar the island looks like just a hill.

The cave you enter is the Fume Vaults. In the southwestern room of the Fume Vaults there is a hole in the floor that drops into a lava-filled chamber. If you drop down into the lava and run to the northern end of that chamber you will find a boss-level Fleshy Pod in an alcove just above the lava. The problem, though, is getting back out again; it is possible to jump back up the hole if you use Water Walking to walk on top of the lava and have sufficiently high Acrobatics skill. Saving before trying any of this is highly recommended.

The door out of the Fume Vaults leads into the Embers of Hatred, where you will immediately encounter two Dremora Hatred Keepers, who are carrying the First and Second Keys of Dark Hate. Both of these keys are needed to climb the rest of the tower, and find your rewards:
