The infamous remorseless cult assassins, the children of the Night Mother, the worshipers of Sithis.
The Dark Brotherhood offers a lot of RP, both for the members and the Listener.
You can make self made quests through by "Assassination/Stalker/Ninja Adventure" guide.

[edit] Listener
- Make sure to collect new assassinations every week and bring them to Arquen to receive your reward. Make it more complicated than simply clicking the statue and running back to Cheydinhal--add some fun roleplaying to it.
- You can simulate bowing to the Night Mother by walking up to the statue in third person view and rapidly clicking Sneak.
- Order one of the newly-initiated Murderers to follow you there and help you with your Night Mother worshiping duties. Order one of them to stand right next to the statue and serve as the "Night Mother Guardian." Give them enchanted bound armor for an extra evil yet powerfull look, Keep them there to defend the loot you place in front of the statue as offerings. If you have the PC version, you can even use the console to rename this Dark Brotherhood Murderer "Guardian of the Tomb," or something along those lines.
- Collect loot of various sorts and drop it on the statue every time you go to collect new assassinations (ex: flowers, a few gold coins, daggers, plant ingredients, expensive clothes, potions, food, jewelry, Welkynd stones, alchemy equipment, books, enchanted armor, bones, etc.). For an added touch, make particular use of things you take from people you kill on your own private missions. Over time you can accumulate a very impressive treasure trove there. Unless you are part of the Thieves Guild (in which case you are generally safe from Bravil's quite considerable crime problem) it is good to order a Dark Brotherhood Murderer to follow you there and then to stay put (see above).
- After killing your targets create a weak poison using two cheap ingredients. If you are a Master of Alchemy use one cheap ingredient. Morning Glory Root Pulp only costs one Septim, so use that. Name it (Target's Name)'s Blood. For example, after assassinating Adamus Phillida, pretend you take a vial of his blood. Create the poison and name it Adamus Phillida's Blood. Once you have created the poison, place it neatly at the base of the statue. After some time, the Listener of the Black Hand can go to the statue and will see many vials of his past victims' blood. Citizens will simply think that the vials are small offerings to the Lucky Old Lady. Little do they know...
- Set up a cover identity, such as a traveling alchemist, vampire hunter, noble or beggar. Get a separate set of clothes to wear in place of Black Hand gear when you're walking the streets. Maintain this identity: if you are a traveling alchemist, carry alchemy equipment, dress in high-end civilian clothes with jewelry, collect ingredients along the way between towns, and make and sell potions to local alchemy merchants.
- Make up assassination quests that can only be done by the Listener because of their difficulty. Pick somebody important and hard to kill and go after them. Follow specific parameters for the assassination, as there would be in a built-in quest.
- Practice in the Sanctuary training room. Choose a time of day and practice for about half an hour regularly each day.
- Carry out your own semi-annual or monthly (game time) sacrifice to Sithis. Pick an essentially useless game character (such as Glarthir, Bernadette Peneles, Dorian, or beggars) and perform a carefully ritualized assassination. Make parameters for yourself, such as a rule that the target must be awake when you kill them. Use only the Blade of Woe and create a special mark that identifies it as your work. Take off all the clothes of the target and create a pile somewhere outside the Abandoned House where all the clothes of your victims can be found. Further, take a bouquet of flowers and a silver dagger and drop it on the bodies.
- This can also be used as a kind of initiation rite for the new Murderers that appear after you become the Listener. Make one follow you in stealth during your assassination, or make him kill them for you. Only when they have killed someone will you trust them and use them.
- Have a deadly powerful enchanted Blade, a dagger or shortsword will be the best. Give it your family name and then put " (...) Ceremonial Dagger/ Shortsword". use that deadly Blade for your assassinations.
- Its not good when someone yells and turns you down, kill your targets in one strike. very easy, but wait, are you sure no one saw you? If you see someone near the murder kill that person as well and drag the body near the other. Drop two silver daggers near the bodies so that it looks like they had a fight and killed each other.
- Set up an office inside the Cheydinhal Sanctuary. Take over what used to be Vicente Valtieri's room and transform it into own private quarters. Place all your Dark Brotherhood related things in the room and use the room's stone bed when you decide to sleep in the Sanctuary. Sit in your chair and manage administrative work for the Sanctuary. Make counts of the number of each type of food the place has for example, and go buy more.
- Consult with the Speaker Arquen from time to time and have a chat with the members. To introduce new members to the Sanctuary, you can order them to follow you and then lead them around through the public areas of the Sanctuary, then assign them a specific bed and drawers.
- Invent a ritual you perform before you go to sleep. For example, drop a few Nightshades on the ground in a circle, then drop the Blade of Woe in the middle. Step back and bow by rapidly clicking Sneak.
- To give the Sanctuary a bit more life, you can use the console (placeatme command) to respawn the members of the Brotherhood you liked but had no but choice to kill earlier on. They don't do much, but they will still talk to you and it gives the impression that you're the boss of more than just a few rookies.
- Make sure to supply the Cheydinhal Sanctuary. Buy weapons, poisons, stealth enchanted equipment, or whatever you would think assassins would need and place it in the Sanctuary.
- Assuming you didn't kill Schemer during the Purification quest, you can roleplay taking care of him. Drop a silver plate on the ground in the Sanctuary and place some food on it for him.
- When not out in public, wear your Black Hand robes and hood, even though you may feel an itch to put on elven and Daedric armor. You are part of the Black Hand, after all.
- You could appoint your own Silencer, from the Sanctuary and make him/her wait at an Inn, you could even put Dark Brotherhood Paraphernalia in his/her room, such as The 5 Tenets, a Bow/Sword/Both, some poisons etc...
- If you have PC and console, you could add the Black Hand Robe and Hood to any of the Followers you think deserve Silencer/Speaker and you could change the name from Dark Brotherhood to Black Hand.
(example: Change Dark Brotherhood Murderer to Black Hand Silencer/Speaker) (See Above)
- You could also make three characters who become speakers(don't finish the quest line, just do the quest until the part you get appointed speaker).
- You could also appoint an apprentice once you complete the Dark Brotherhood questline. try to remember what you used the most on your assassinations (bow/blade/magic). For bow use the imperial, for blade use the Khajiit, and for magic use the Breton. Just have them follow you around on assassinations and show them how to do things.
- You could assassinate Giovanni Civello, Adamus's successor if you're listener
[edit] Member
- Get a contract, and travel there on foot, sleeping in inns.
- Get a cover you can use when being in public- and get some "Cover clothes" so people won't suspect you.
- Practice in the training room inside the Sanctuary.
- Say a prayer to Sithis every morning or before you go to sleep.
- Until you join the Dark Brotherhood, have only a few lockpicks on you at one time. Once you get the armor you can get more as assassins need space for them in their armor.
- Pretend you were a member of the Dark Brotherhood and you got caught during an assassination which is why you are in jail. when you break out murder someone in public as soon as you can, as if you were still a wanted criminal.
[edit] Specialist
Be a Dark Brotherhood Specialist, a person who deals in accidental death.
- Get your Alchemy up to 100, and get your Blade and Hand To Hand up to 50.
- Get lots of poison apples and use them instead of killing the target outright, also you could use your hands until the target is dead, then roleplay throwing them down the stairs (accidental death)
- Always have your sword (preferably a shortsword) poisoned with a very strong poison, one that you made yourself, try to get a damage health and paralysis, just in case you ever need to use it.
- Always carry poisons around with you, along with a a few poison apples.
[edit] Double Agent
Become an influential member of another Guild. Perhaps the Mages Guild? Become Arch-Mage (or master-wizard for a more realistic approach) and train an Apprentice, all the while taking pains to ensure that no-one in either faction could possibly realize who you are...
