During the Main Quest of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion you have the honor to join the ranks of the Knights of the Thorn, which is good for a Roleplaying idea.

History: The headquarters of the Knights of the Thorn is the Knights of the Thorn Lodge, a building outside the west gate of Cheydinhal. Non-members are not allowed entry, but as a member you are free to sleep there (except in Farwil's bed on the top floor) and take anything you find inside. One clue as to how the members spend all of their time is in the basement, which contains a healthy supply of wine. Members of the faction all wear an enchanted Knights of the Thorn Medallion. The faction also has its own Knights of the Thorn Shield

The Knights of the Thorn are sworn to protect Cheydinhal from any threat. They were founded in 3E431 by Farwil Indarys, the son of the count of Cheydinhal. Farwil claims that many wish to join their ranks, but they only allow a select few to join.

Items (only used by Knights of the Thorn): Thornblade, Staff of Indarys, Knights of the Thorn Medallion and Knights of the Thorn Shield.

  • First your character, the best races are the human races (Breton included), since they look the best for knights; But the founder of the Knights of the Thorn is a Dunmer; So any race is acceptable. Helpful Birthsigns are: The Warrior, The Lady, The Ritual and The Atronach. Create a class named either "Knight of the Thorn" or simply "Knight"; Give it the Specialization of Combat with favorite attributes of Strength and either Endurance, Intelligence or Personality; Use for Major Skills Acrobatics, Athletics, Blade, Blunt, Heavy Armor, Block and Restoration ( you can also use Illusion instead of Acrobatics ). Imagine that you are the Knights of the Thorn official Battlemage, Archer, Boxer etc...Make your character better for those classes.
  • For your equipment you must always use the Thorn Shield, the Knights of the Thorn Medallion, the Thornblade and the Staff of Indarys for a second weapon. Just like the other Knights you must use a full Steel armor, but no helm. Get a few Transcendent Sigil Stones ( or the best you can ) and enchant your full Steel armor, along with the Thorn Shield with powerful effects:
  • If you have the Shivering Isles the do the quest To Help A Hero and obtain the Thorn Shield.
    • Fire, Frost or Shock Shield.
    • Spell Absorption (especially if you have the Atronach birthsign).
    • Resistances ( Fire, Frost, Shock, Disease, Poison and Magic ).
    • ETC...
  • Use other helpful items such has: Mundane Ring, Ring of Vitality, Sorcerer's Ring etc...
  • Patrol Cheydinhal and of course buy a house there, either live there or at the Knights of the Thorn Lodge, or both. Don't just patrol the city also patrol the outside of it, the Forts, Ruins, Mines and Caves around the city. Imagine if a Goblin Menace was coming!!! Get the news to the Knights and after they're all ready ( after a Bottle of Wine of course ) go into the place and kill all of them, do this occasionally. Do the same with Marauders, Necromancers etc...
  • The Guard thinks you're just a "Glorified Club", save the world from the Oblivion Crisis, be the Fighters Guild Master, the Arch-Mage, the Champion of Cyrodiil, a Blade, the Divine Crusader of Legend, join all good Knights factions, don't associate with anything evil, do all sidequests possible etc... Like this the most loved and prestigious warrior in all of the Empire is a Knight of the Thorn and he's proud of it, decorate the Lodge with enchanted equipment and everything of the best, food, more wine, plates, tables, baskets and bring honor to the Knights of the Thorn !!!
