- This article provides one suggestion for character-type roleplaying. Please see the main Roleplaying article for contribution guidelines.
So you want to be a mercenary, here are a few steps to get you started,
- Hang out in busy Inns, preferably lower class areas such as Anvil docks, the Waterfront, Bravil etc... ( Do this to get the latest gossip by selecting the "Rumor" option )
- Purchase or forcibly take some heavy armor. ( Remember the better you look, the more likely you are to be hired. No-one wants to hire a wimp suited up in fur armor to take on a blood sucking vampire stronghold )
- Keep some trophies from previous battles. ( e.g: Some wolf came pretty close to killing you once, so keep its fur and hang it on the wall, to remind you and your customers that you are tough enough to get the job done ).
- More trophies ideas ( see above ) are to keep Akaviri, Ayleid, Daedric ( even items from the Gods ) and more rare items. Keep a collection of the most amazing blades or axes in Tamriel, if your employer sees your house with those items he'll think that you are great and an excellent mercenary.
- Get awesome clothes and armor, if you can get a Masks mod, and use a Dark Mask to cover your face, so people don't know you.
- Rent a room to keep your armor and trophies in.
- Get a collection of weapons, and learn how to use them. (Learn by roaming around bandit camps and getting into fights, or how about enrolling in the arena?)
Ok, if you have done all of the suggestions above, then your ready to begin your mercenary days.
- Go to your rented accommodation and get your three best weapons, and suit up into your very impressive heavy armor.
- Then travel from town to town looking for quests to earn from.
Keep this in mind, what matters is that the job got done, and it will always be done no matter what. If you die in service, remember, you didn't die for the glory but for the rewards!
Think you have completed every quest, finished of the black bow bandits? Quenched Umbacano's lust for the 10 Ayleid statues? Cant you think of any more quests? Then this means you're a veteran. Here's a list of what a seasoned veteran like yourself can do.
- Buy a house with all the gold you have earned over the years of fighting.
- Show off your many trophies.
- Start a collecting hobby to fill your days.
- Go to fights in the arena weekly. (it's your choice if your in them though)
- Or even keep up the warrior image and join the fighters guild.
