Become the unseen protector of a town, doing the job the guards should but can't.

  • For your character, most races will do except perhaps Orcs and, to a lesser extent, Nords due to their lack of subtlety and grace Bosmer are ideal because of their high speed and agility. Choose The Shadow or The Thief for your birthsign and make a class with stealth for a specialization and blade, marksman, illusion, sneak the acrobatics and whatever else you feel is suitable for main skills.
  • Wear dark clothing or robes with a hood. Also, the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal would be very useful and incredibly helpful to a vigilante leading a double life.
  • You may wish to enchant your hood or a piece of jewelry with a chameleon or invisibility effect.
  • Carry a high quality/enchanted bow and shortsword/dagger.
  • You could lead a normal life in the day, but fight crime etc. at night. If so, a perfect house would be Benirus Manor in Anvil would be perfect as you could use the cave underneath it as your hideout, where you would store everything that proves you identity.
  • As an alternative to the point above, you could be your vigilante self all the time, maybe sleeping somewhere just outside the city walls in the day. If you are in the Imperial City, you could set up a "base of operations" in the sewers.
  • Seek out Skooma dealers and anyone who you judge to be a criminal and eliminate them. Bear in mind that unless the NPC attacks you, killing them will give you a bounty, which will be effective all the time unless you use the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal. However, if being a full-time vigilante, being disliked by the guards is part of the job description (your doing their job better than them, after all)
  • Whenever you kill a criminal leave your "calling card". For this you could use a Nighshade flower, a silver arrow, a pearl, the possibilities are endless!
  • You could give your vigilante a nickname, choose one that matches with your "calling card". You may want to make this your character's name or just a nickname for the people you protect to whisper in inns.
  • Perhaps the Count of Bravil is corrupt and must be brought to justice, maye the Countess of Leyawiin needs to be made to atone for her torturing habits, maybe one of the guard captains should be punished for his incompetence. There is no end to people who could be in need of a quick visit from their local vigilante.
