Lore:Tamriel (continent)

(Redirected from Oblivion:Tamriel)
Tamriel is the continent upon which all of the Elder Scrolls games are set. Arena was the only game to include the entire continent. The continent is under the collective rule of the Emperor, though each of its provinces has their own individual rulers, and the Empire's influence is less strongly felt outside of the central province of Cyrodiil. It consists of nine provinces. They are:
- Cyrodiil, the center and capital of the Empire, home of the Imperial race, and of the Emperor himself. This province was the setting for the game Oblivion.
- Black Marsh, the swampland to the southeast of Cyrodiil, home to the Argonians.
- Elsweyr, the deserts and forests to the south of Cyrodiil, home to the Khajiit.
- Hammerfell, a mountainous region to the northwest of Cyrodiil, home to the Redguards. This province was part of the setting for the game Daggerfall. Additionally, the game Redguard was set on the island of Stros M'Kai, which is part of Hammerfell.
- High Rock, more mountains and desert regions to the north of Hammerfell, home to the Bretons. This province was part of the setting for the game Daggerfall.
- Morrowind, a dry, volcanic region to the northeast of Cyrodiil, home to the Dunmer. This province was the setting for the game Morrowind.
- Skyrim, a cold frozen wasteland to the north of Cyrodiil, home to the Nords.
- Summerset Isle, actually refers to serveral islands, to the southwest of Cyrodiil across the Abecean Sea, home to the Altmer.
- Valenwood, a densely forested area to the south of Cyrodiil, home to the Bosmer.
Additionally, the Orcs have established a homeland in Orsinium, a region of High Rock, though not its own province.
Other continents are known to exist, though they have never been seen in games. They include:
- Akavir, a large continent to the east of Tamriel.
- Atmora, a frigid continent to the north, home to the ancestors of the Nords.
- Pyandonea, a continent to the far southwest of Tamriel, home to the Maormer.
- Thras, a continent to the southwest of Tamriel, home of the Sload.
- Yokuda, a continent to the west of Tamriel, original home of the Redguards.
