[edit] Detailed Walkthrough
[edit] Gang Problems
You may hear from residents in Anvil about an all-female gang of thieves who pick only on married men. They lure them in with their charms, then rob them. You will be pointed in the direction of Gogan, who lives in Gogan's House at the south end of Anvil.
At his house you will find both Gogan and his wife, Maelona, who tell you that Gogan was tricked by the thieves and that they stole his wife's ring, which was a family heirloom. They will both ask you to help them, and suggest that you start at The Flowing Bowl, which is where Gogan was approached.
[edit] Approach the Gang
Head off to the Flowing Bowl down by the docks and wait around. Two women (Signy Home-Wrecker and Faustina Cartia) enter the Flowing Bowl and approach you. If your character is male, they seductively invite you to have a "Night of Fun" at their farmhouse just outside of town; if your character is female, they invite you to join their gang. You are told to meet them after 11 pm at Gweden Farm, which is now marked on your map.
When you arrive at the farm Faustina will be inside. Do not immediately attack her; you must first talk to her. She asks you either to take off all your clothes and weapons if you're male or, if you're female, to confirm that you want to join their gang. Refuse to do so and tell her that you know what she's up to.
[edit] The Jig Is Up
After you say this, Signy and Tsarrina appear. Normally all three attack you, and force you to kill them. If you have previously increased Signy's or Faustina's Disposition towards you, however, they may not attack. In this case, you still need to kill them to complete the quest, but initiating combat will cause their deaths to be counted as murder. (On PC, you can also use the kill console command.)
After you kill your attackers, Gogan and Maelona come in through the door, dressed in City Watch armor. They explain to you that they work for the City Watch and that they needed a stranger like you to help foil the thieves. They thank you and reward you with a level-dependent amount of gold (see chart below).
Before leaving the farmhouse, be sure to search and loot the sirens' corpses (after you leave the main room of the farmhouse, their corpses will all disappear). On Faustina's corpse you will find the Witsplinter, a leveled enchanted dagger, and the Gweden Basement Key. The key provides access to the basement, where you will find a stash of all the things they stole from the married men in town. It is not possible to return these items to their original owners, so you are free to keep the items for your own use.
After you have left the farmhouse, the front door is permanently locked, so be sure to take everything you want with you before leaving.
[edit] Reward
| Level | Reward |
|---|---|
| 1-4 | 100 Gold |
| 5-9 | 200 Gold |
| 10-14 | 300 Gold |
| 15-19 | 400 Gold |
| 20-24 | 500 Gold |
| 25+ | 600 Gold |
[edit] Notes
- If you are on the PC, do not use Console commands such as coc to exit the Flowing Bowl after talking to Faustina and Signy. You must exit the Flowing Bowl using the front door in order to trigger the subsequent quest update.
- After you complete this quest, a special edition of the Black Horse Courier is published: "Anvil Tarts Thwarted!".
- If you kill Gogan and Maelona after completing the quest (while they are still in the farm house) then you will not get a bounty.
- It is possible for a Siren to be killed in the Flowing Bowl: if a Mythic Dawn member happens to be in the room after you complete "Dagon Shrine" in the Main Quest, and thus attacks you on sight, then everyone in the bar will start to attack them, and then the Sirens. The only way to stop this is to reload.
- Several of the items found in the Gweden Farm basement are rare zero-weight items: Ernest's Fancy Pants, Heinrich's Pants, and Heinrich's Shirt.
[edit] Bugs
- You do not have a key to the front door, so don't leave during the fight or before raiding the basement. The only way back into the house after leaving is to use the console.
- Part of this bug was fixed with the 1.1 Patch. Leaving during the fight will not lock you out anymore, but once the fight is over and the guards arrive, the door will lock behind you when you leave.
- On the PC, this can be fixed using Console commands: select the front door at type
unlock, or use the commandcoc GwedenFarmInterior.
- There is a glitch that can occur, the sirens will start attacking you before you can communicate with them, you must then either kill them, or run outside and let the guards take care of them. Both result in you ending the quest early, and not gaining a reward or fame points.
- Going to jail will usually make Signy reappear outside the jail when you are released. You can then continue the quest like normal, except they will not show up in the farmhouse, they will wait for you in the Flowing Bowl. After you killed them then you can go to the farmhouse and wait until 11 pm and go in there you will meet the 3rd member of the gang and she will attack you on sight. After you killed her the guards will show up and take care of the rest for you. If you instead go inside the house anyway, without first killing the two in the Inn, you will permanently be locked in.
- Another glitch renders the quest unbeatable. Essentially, when you talk to Faustina, there will be no options for you to take other than to cancel the conversation, and even then, if you kill her, you can't exit the farmhouse so you will be trapped there forever.
- If you have not yet joined the Dark Brotherhood, you can kill Faustina while she is sleeping. When Lucien Lachance appears and invites you to join the Dark Brotherhood, go to the basement (using Faustina´s key) and take some items. When you return to the ground floor, Lucien Lachance will have left the farmhouse, leaving the door open for you.
- On the PC, you can exit the farmhouse using the console command
player.coc GwedenFarmExterior. - On the PC, you can work around this bug using the console command
sexchangeif you are a male, and use it again to return to your original sex after/during the fight.
[edit] Journal Entries
- Notes
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage quest stage. Wherequestis the internal name of the quest, andstageis the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
