[edit] Page not needed

Just looking at the page will tell you why it's not needed. I have no idea how to do that "report page" thing. 77BeTa77 22:45, 30 March 2008 (EDT)

I added the proposed deletion templete for you. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 22:56, 30 March 2008 (EDT)
I moved the prod tag to the main article. If the article is deleted, the talk page will go with it. –Eshetalk23:00, 30 March 2008 (EDT)
Thanks. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 23:05, 30 March 2008 (EDT)
Except that we probably do need an article on the Ayleid Guardians. They are NPCs, and we have pages describing every other NPC, whether named or generic. There are at least a few details on the Ultimate Heist quest page that only apply to these NPCs, and therefore the quest page could be cleared of a bit of the excessive clutter if that information was moved to an NPC page. The current content of the article isn't what eventually needs to be here, but cleaning up the article requires some editing, not deletion, IMO. --NepheleTalk 23:50, 30 March 2008 (EDT)

() Agreed. There are several answers that the page can supply. Stats, resistances. quirks in behavior? Can they be harmed before becoming animated (no)? Are they NPCs, Undead, or creatures? Can they be affected by Turn Undead (no), Command Creature (no), or Command Humanoid (yes) effects? —Dark Spark 00:38, 31 March 2008 (EDT)

one, i agree we need a page on them.
two,it needs more information like if you calm and charm them do thay talk?

[edit] sword

I was wondering if using the skull of corruption on the guardian will still make the corrupt copy sword disintegrate if you try to pick it up? — Unsigned comment by 24.233.128.66 (talk) on 19 September 2009

I believe so. The corrup copy is just another instance of the same sword. That means that the same script is applied to it. In other words the sword will still disintegrate if you try to pick it up. --Timenn-<talk> 11:32, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
No, it is possible to get both the guardian mace and sword. In fact, I got both of those. I duplicated both guardians using the Skull, disintegrated the clones' weapons and picked them up. I then repaired those and got myself two cool weapons. WRFan 18:26, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
wow, script doesnt apply. just checked it myself :D lot of work to get it though. Mikeyboy52 09:46, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] By the way

You really can't ask them about rumours, they have no speech for anything and cannot be persuaded.--VergilSparda 16:28, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

I checked it, and its true that they have no speech options, just like the Dremora when you charm them. However, you can charm them and talk to them, and they do seem to be treated as Altmer. — Unsigned comment by 75.40.80.117 (talk) on 29 November 2009
Also - Using the Skull of Corruption on them works, but the Corrupted clone is the size of a regular altmer, not the ridiculous size that the Ayleid Guardians are.--VergilSparda 20:33, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
With the KotN installed, the male guardian will definitely present the topic of "Prophet" (female won't). He'll do his little statue pose and tell you all about it, lips moving and everything.122.102.238.156 09:46, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

() Hmmm.. I thought only memebers of the nine divines and Anvil faction only had the Prophet Dialogue.--VergilSparda 17:01, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

KotN has some tricky overwriting where dialogue is concerned. Those topics usually have a (too) high priority, which explains why you can even hear people in the Shivering Isles about them. The topics also tend to apply to more NPCs than necessary (no proper conditions), which is why the Ayleid Guardian may also mention them. This is an issue related to KotN, and not specifically to this guardian. --Timenn-<talk> 09:21, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit] charming

Charming them 100 for 10 seconds doesnt work. I just checked it. Mikeyboy52 09:32, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

It really does work, it has been confirmed, maybe just a bug with you, what console are you on or if your on the Pc it maybe the effect of a mod--VergilSparda 16:07, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
When i said it doesn't work, I meant what the article (now) says. no dialog, sorry for the confusionMikeyboy52 05:19, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Question regarding the "armor"

Since their race is Altmer, I am assuming that the armor they wear is obtainable and wearable via console. If its possible the base ids should be listed, and there weapons. If the armor is unobtainable therefore unwearable because there is no armor, it would be logical (and likely) that they are a completely separate race when it comes to coding. Would anyone with the PC version of oblivion be willing to check this? Mikeyboy52 05:29, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

There is armor, however it is not flagged as playable (much like the palace guard armor) The model for it is just plain old Elven armor though, the unique appearance comes from a effect shader on the guardian.--RhomphaiaTC 07:40, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
since the armor is not flagged as playable I'm almost sure the base id of the armor is different than elven armor, not to mention the design (and color) is different. the shader might explain the different color, but not the different design. if you have the pc version, would you mind checking the ids for the armor? Mikeyboy52 09:21, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Making the armor playable in the CS caused my game to crash. Might have been a bad mod by me, but it seems that it's specifically tied to the ayleid models. -Itachi 09:45, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
arent the ayleid models just altmer with an increase in scale size (coding wise)? Mikeyboy52 09:51, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Possibly. I think they have certain scripting on their models realting to positioning, equipment, levelling and so on, so they arent interchangable with other altmer models. I dont have the Oblivion CS installed at the moment, so I can't check right now. -Itachi 10:02, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
I'm sure someone at sometime will answer this question, for now, ill just patiently wait.. while playing oblivion Mikeyboy52 10:10, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
I flagged the armor as playable and equipped it with no problem, It has the appearance of elven armor. Even looking in the CS you can see that it has the same Biped model, world model and icon image as normal elven. No scripts are applied to the armor, stats are slightly different that is all. The appearance change is entirely down to the effectTg11Stone shader. If you apply the shader to yourself (player.pms 14f3b) you can see the difference it makes.--RhomphaiaTC 15:10, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

() Ok, maybe the shading just threw my eyes off completely :D Mikeyboy52 15:54, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Shouldn't it be stated on the article what type of armor there wearing though? For the longest time I wanted to know what armor they wore and I'm sure I'm not the only curious person out there :D Mikeyboy52 16:16, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Since a similar note is present on the article for the Uderfrykte Matron, I've added a note about the shader effect (and the armor) here as well. --Timenn-<talk> 09:56, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Wierd

Right after I used the arrow, I fired two arrows, one at both the guardians, they were not yet animated, but because I was sneaking and because I was using hatreds bow and arrows, I killed them in one shot. Could someone on something other than the PS3 confirm this? My friend says the Ayleids Guardians don't behave like that on his version (PC) Mikeyboy52 02:04, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
