[edit] Chiming sound from magicka pool

Perhaps its just my audio drivers, but for the first time in over 200 hours of gameplay i heard a chiming sound coming from a charged ayleid magicka well. It was the well above Vilverin, and I dont know if this is truly just a sound problem or if the wells normally are supposed to make this sound...Anyone?

It's supposed to make that sound. I was surprised by the sound as well, because I never heard it on pc, but when I played it on Xbox360 it just made that sound when I stood next to it. Hope this helps :D 84.84.188.56 11:46, 31 May 2008 (EDT)
Are you sure there wasn't a Nirnroot nearby? They make a chiming noise, and I've never heard the wells make that kind of sound. --Gaebrial 03:39, 2 June 2008 (EDT)
It does indeed make that sound on a PC as well, but seemingly not all the time or perhaps not at all wells. I could hear it at Wenyandawik, for example, but not at Anutwyll. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 12:14, 4 June 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Contribute to Restoration?

I just used one of the wells and was informed that my restoration skill increased. Has anyone else experienced Ayleid Wells giving Restoration experience? --Darkle 21:59, 21 September 2008 (EDT)

Interesting. I just tried it and using a well does indeed boost restoration skill. I assume the associated animation means that the player really is casting a Fortify Magicka spell, and so the stat gets a boost. –RpehTCE 02:05, 22 September 2008 (EDT)
Should a note about this be put on this and the Restoration page? --Darkle 19:07, 22 September 2008 (EDT)
One increase in skill experience is too small to mention on the Restoration page. A small note on this article could do though. --Timenn < talk > 03:15, 23 September 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Blue Arrow

I have noticed a blue arrow on all ayleid wells pointing to the centre (where you activate the blessing). It is similar to the custom waypoint you can place. What is it?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Critchell (talkcontribs) on 22:29, 23 July 2009.

I have now noticed that all of these arrows point roughly North by East, if anyone is interestedCritchell 21:13, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
I don't know what arrows you mean. None of the Ayleid Wells I looked at had such an arrow. Are you running a mod? –rpehTCE 21:22, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
No i play on 360, it's hard to describe, you know theres the raised up part with the glowing stuff above where you receive the blessing, well the circular part around that that's made of that kind of ayleid stone. That's where they all are. If it's okay i'll somehow work out how to put up a picture. Edit: I put the picture up on my user page- Critchell 13:23, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
I don't know what causes them, but I've seen a report and screenshot of them before, which I'm pretty sure was from the PC. (Don't ask me where I saw it, though, it was quite a while ago...I think it was on this site somewhere, but not even remotely sure where.) My best guess is that it's some kind of graphics glitch that only occurs under certain conditions, though what those conditions would be, especially given that you're on a 360 where there's less flexibility in terms of resolution, mods, etc., I don't know. Anyway, at least you know you're not alone. :) --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 03:19, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
It is not a glitch. It just means that the well can be used (it has "energy"). Once used, it goes away. Then it eventually comes back. –Elliot talk 05:50, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
Wait, Elliot may have a point. Critchell: are you talking about the blue flame-like thing coming out of the well itself, which disappears when you use it, or are you talking about something on the ground? The report I was referring to (wherever it was) referred to an arrow/triangle that appeared on the steps leading up to the well, and was clearly some form of graphical glitch. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 06:18, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
I think the paragraph starting "No i play on 360" makes it clear he doesn't mean the mana flame but an arrow on the surrounding well. –rpehTCE 06:53, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

\=> The picture he had on his userpage only showed the magicka flame, no arrow. –Elliot talk 07:05, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes, and a big arrow saying "HERE" pointing to the surrounding marble rather than the flame. –rpehTCE 07:24, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
This isn't the report I remember seeing a long time ago, but I did just come across this message that mentions the problem. No solutions to it...in fact, no replies at all, but unless that's Critchell by any other name, at least we know he's not alone! --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 08:54, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
If it is not the flame, then there is nothing extra I can see. The image is way to small to make out anything. It looks completely normal to me. –Elliot talk 09:00, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure if the image on his profile was supposed to show the problem. The same image, without the markup, exists on Wikia. Since he's on a 360, I think he just used the image to show where he was seeing it. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 09:24, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
I saw that gamespot post too and guessed it was from Critchell. I think this goes down as a graphical glitch or as something from a mod. There's nothing in the standard game that would cause this problem. –rpehTCE 10:13, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
It seems odd that the report would be so far apart, though. The Gamespot post was in 2008. I never did find where I saw the previous post, but I have seen a picture of it, and it certainly didn't look like anything a mod would do...at least not deliberately. (And if he's on a 360, then AFAIK, it can't be a mod.) At this point, though, with only a couple of reports of the problem, I'm inclined to simply say it's a rare bug and leave it at that. Either that or maybe it's a lighting artifact that only happens at certain times of day/under certain conditions causing the light coming through the flame to be cast onto the stone below? Probably a long shot, but the idea just occurred to me. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 21:05, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
