[edit] Detection
I was able to complete this quest killing 3 of the mercs, and I still got the bonus. Ratwar 00:45, 3 April 2006
- I suspect you did so while sneaking and they never detected you. I, on the other hand, somehow managed to sell the poison, so I was forced to kill Roderick the old fashioned way. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Montek (talk • contribs) on 10:04, 5 August 2006.

- I was able to complete the quest and get the bonus while killing all 4 guards. I killed the 4th guard while she stood watch over Roderick. A successful sneak attack is all you need. Its not difficult to complete the quest with no kills, especially if you have Nocturnal's Cowl. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Klash72 (talk • contribs) on 21:18, 6 August 2006.
[edit] Cabinet Issues
when i went to the medicine cabinet i took the medicine. but i couldn't replace it with the poison. what buttons do i press to put the poison in the cabinet. or is the game messed...

- If pressing the left trigger and selecting it from your inventry desn't do it, it must have glitched. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 91.107.103.53 (talk • contribs) on 06:56, 29 February 2008.
[edit] Roderic
Can he actually be woken up on this mission, or is he in a permenantly comatose state? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Merco (talk • contribs) on 11:19, 25 August 2007.
- He can't be woken up. Trying to talk to him brings up a message about how ill he looks, and one hit with a weapon kills him (completing the quest but losing the bonus). --RpehTalk 04:48, 26 August 2007 (EDT)
- But does he ever die? If I return a couple of days later, will he still be in the same condition? Or will he simply disappear because he's a quest-object? And what happens with the poison? Do they ever use it, since it's, as mentioned, not quite a Potion? SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 02:59, 18 May 2009 (EDT)
- Yes. He is killed at stage 10 of Permanent Retirement - two quests later. He will then disappear in the usual 72 hours. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 03:17, 18 May 2009 (EDT)
- As for the poison, what happens to it depends on whether or not you're a PC user and have the Unofficial Oblivion Patch installed. If you don't, the potion and/or poison will stay in the cabinet. If you do, they will both be removed from the cabinet once the quest is done, though only whichever one(s) you leave in the cupboard - if they're anywhere else (like your inventory), those ones won't be removed. Oh and they're not "used" in the typical sense, just removed/deleted from the cupboard. --Robin Hood (Talk • E-mail • Contribs) 17:40, 18 May 2009 (EDT)

I don't suppose you can witness the man's demise at all? I hung around for awhile after replacing the poisons and one of the guards went over and stood next to the man, but it didn't seem like they were going to administer the "medicine." Does that ever happen? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.71.238.204 (talk • contribs) on 02:04, 12 September 2007.
I noticed the poison is not located in your Potions tab, but rather in the "Everything" tab. It threw me off for a while, I thought I had sold it or something. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.13.75.181 (talk • contribs) on 16:26, 23 March 2008.
[edit] Returning
If you return after finishing the quest correctly, will the guards still bet there? If yes, will they attack you on sight?Amantius Allectus 10:54, 1 August 2008 (EDT)
- Yes and yes. The guards are all still there although Roderick's body disappears, and they attack you on sight. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 06:49, 2 August 2008 (EDT)
[edit] (moved from article)
- PLEASE KNOW THIS* To actually replace the poision you have to open the cabinet, take the medicine, then press L1, or whatever you press to sell something to a shopkeep, and then press ok for the poision. I don't know if I worded that right, but I got confused. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.253.151.232 (talk • contribs).
[edit] Killing Guards First
If you kill the guards before picking up the quest, will they still be gone when you come back to place the poison? Also, will you suddenly get the "detected" entry after picking it up, or will it still count as remaining undetected? Felindre 13:18, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
