[edit] Staff of Worms
I added a bit about the staff of worms (the staff you get from killing the boss necromancer) and I found the quest to be extremely easy. Could someone add links, etc leading to the staff?

- Linked. =) IWon'tFightUndead 15:50, 22 February 2008 (EST)
[edit] Higher Level Quest
The lvl 20ish version of this quest is pretty tough, even if you have all of the allies. The gates put out a full array of various daedric humanoids plus an small army of clannfear, spider daedra, draemora, storm atronarchs, etc. Make sure you're fully charged up before trying the quest. As for the closing of the main gate, just run through as fast as you can ignoring mobs for the most part.
I did this at Level 24 and found it pretty easy. I stocked up with Mage, DB, Adoring Fan, and Shadowmere. I used lots of Invisibility potions in Oblivion and ran through stuff. I think I only fought two Daedra, though I probably had about 10 following me by the end. --Mbell90 16:05, 11 September 2006 (EDT)
Expanded comments suggesting use of Shadowmere and Adoring Fan. I used these plus Mage+DB. I removed the very large bulleted point (which discussed this and warned about the permanent loss of the Fan + Shadowmere) because it simply isn't true. The Adoring Fan did eventually respawn for me, and Shadowmere had simply done her usual wander off to Fort Farragut that she often does. Furthermore the DB murderer was not attacked. (I'm sure it could happen, but it is not an absolute) I dismissed her shortly after reaching the town again. --Mbell90 16:04, 11 September 2006 (EDT)
[edit] Baurus and Jauffre
Did anyone get any of these two alive through the quest, or is their death just scripted? Would be interesting to have them with you in the Temple of One at the end.
- They survived just fine when I played it. They didn't follow me into the Temple of the One, though. 152.23.196.162 21:02, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
- Jauffre attacked me the second the quest began in the chapel. I've re-loaded over and over, but he keeps attacking me. I believe I found a new bug. I'm using the PS3 version, and can share my save if anyone wishes to validate this for inclusion as an actual bug in the game. 75.7.206.48 13:39, 10 June 2007 (EDT)
- If Jauffre keeps attacking to you try yeilding to him, (Raise your sheild and talk to him) Both Jauffre and Baurus lose their essential flags at various points in the game (It is possible fo Baurus to die even before you go to the Mythic Dawn shrine.) Neither death should seriously affect the storyline as by this time they no longer have a signifcant role in the game.
- I only found out about this page, and therefore about the bonuses you can get later in the game for certain choises (ie/ keeping Jeelius alive and Baurus helping you in the Defense of Bruma) after the quests clearing their essential flgs, so both died almost as soon as I saw them. I didn't care for Baurus getting killed in the sewers, and I got in a rampage when in the cave for Dagon Shrine, inevitably killing Jeelius. I still don't have any problems with my game that could relate to their deaths so... Just my story ; - Korunox 18:10, 22 February 2008 (EST)

[edit] Extra Help
Okay, so there are a bunch of extra people one can bring along. How many people could one conceivably have fighting this battle? There's all the soldiers from the Allies for Bruma quest, obviously, the Mage guy, DB murdere, Shadowmere, Adoring Fan...can you bring along the Jemane Brothers from Legacy Lost and Erthor from the Mages' Guild recommendation series? And what about the Fighter's Guild? I haven't finished that questline; are there any people you can bring along from them as well? Any help would be appreciated. =) 152.23.196.162 21:27, 3 April 2007 (EDT)
- Check Followers for information on all the NPCs you can get to follow you. --NepheleTalk 02:52, 8 April 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Not really a bug, but...
After getting the quest from Martin, without waiting for him to come along, I headed straight to Bruma and talked to the Countess. Again, without waiting for the Countess, I walked to the chapel and talked to Martin. After that Martin left the chapel, walked pass the Countess, and left Bruma (I thinks he's heading to the oblivion gates). The Countess entered the chapel standing still, while Burd went out of the chapel.
I didn't wait long enough to see if Burd fetched back Martin, and reloaded...
(Edit: the first time I had this quest, the Countess had a little conversation with Martin at the chapel, before Martin headed out to the gates. So I thought I was stuck above. Later I found out that you just have to talk to the Countess and say ready for battle to continue...)
[edit] Non aggressive
It says shadowmere is not aggressive, but when i play he is always fighting by my side against bandits and monsters etc. Should this be changed?
- When people say aggressive they normally mean creatures/NPC's that will attack you, not necesarily other NPC's. Shadowmere is intended to be loayl to the player and she can be a useful ally, I can't see any reason to change this. Volanaro 13:09, 17 December 2007 (EST)
[edit] Sword on Fire
Is anyone else's sword the statue is holding on fire?
- Can you upload or link to a screenshot please? --Rpeh•T•C•E• 17:41, 23 October 2007 (EDT)
- No; and it's in my game.
- I'm not sure I see why your sword being on fire is a problem. Personally, I think that'd be kind of neat. =) Have you used the "resurrect" command on him/her? If you do that, s/he might be holding a torch, instead of a weapon. IWon'tFightUndead 15:36, 27 October 2007 (EDT)
- Who said it was a problem? Volanaro 13:07, 17 December 2007 (EST)

[edit] Getting to the church on time
I've had a strange problem in this area occasionally in which I can't get Martin and the countess to meet in the chapel. I once actually met Martin leaving the chapel to wander around the town with Jauffre and Baurus while the countess was still on her way to meet him. I've tried talking to the countess to just start the battle anyway, but Martin never shows up on the battlefield -- maybe he has some shopping to do in town first, who knows. Wordmama 15:40, 17 February 2008 (EST)
- Probably that's just a scripting glitch; when one of the scripts messes up due to one of the conditions not being met. If you want Martin to be on the battlefield, you could use the console to spawn a copy of him or reload an earlier save. Vesna 08:37, 28 December 2007 (EST)
[edit] Soldiers
What happens to the various soldiers you recieve from Allies for Bruma after this guest (and the Great Gate quest) is finished? I would guess that they are disabled and therefore removed from the game, but I would like someone to confirm this for me. Thanks in advance if anyone decides to. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jiaan Phillida (talk • contribs).
- My experience is that if they survive, they go home. If you walk down the road from Bruma right after the battle, you'll often run across some of them walking back to their homes. Or is this only for the ones who appear in other quests, like Ulrich Leland from Cheydinhal who features in "Corruption and Conscience"? --Wordmama 00:13, 28 December 2007 (EST)
-
- All of them are scripted to go home. Well, the ones that survive, at least. But it does not matter whether or not they are quest related, you can find all of them on the road. I just don't know what happens to them after they reach their hometown. It is unlikely that they are going to go back to guarding the main gate duty. Maybe they hang out in the barracks? - I don't think any of this is true. My last playthrough seemed to indicate that they walk into Bruma and then just disappear. IWon'tFightUndead 05:31, 18 February 2008 (EST)

- I don't know about the unnamed ones, but I certainly met Viera Lerus on the road to Bravil several times as she made her way back home and I wandered around killing things. Ulrich Leland also wandered home from Bruma - he actually wandered off before the battle, to boot. --Gaebrial 05:34, 18 February 2008 (EST)

[edit] Ulrich Leland can die
I'm playing the PS3 version and, as suggested on this page, held off doing the Corruption and Conscience quest so I could get Ulrich as an unkillable NPC during the battle for the great gate. Strangely enough, Ulrich is quite... killable. Since I'm doing this on level 42 he drops quite fast, too. I get a message telling me the Corruption and conscience quest can not be completed (it's in my quest log for quizzing the ocals about rumors, but nothing further's been done about the quest) and Ulrich is.. well.. dead. Not getting up and all. Any ideas?
Ah yes, Upon replaying this part, I noticed I get one point of infamy when he does die, even when killed by a monster. (and I just did my pilgrimage, too) No bounty though. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.147.70.139 (talk • contribs).
- You started the Corruption and Conscience quest as soon as you heard the rumors. As the journal entries on the quest page indicate, the first step is to hear the rumors and it's at that point that Ulrich becomes killable. I'm afraid there's not much you can do about that. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 06:42, 14 May 2008 (EDT)
-
- Bummer. Still, maybe add a warning for it either here or on the Corruption and conscience quest? It's virtually unfinishable now, and I'm sure I wont be the only one to make this mistake.
[edit] followers getting you a bounty
i had adoring fan ( with enchanted gontlets and mace) a knight of the nine and a man at arms, i got 1000 for killing adoring fan, but then the night of the nine acedently killed a bruma soldor( not the good one) and i got a bounty for that one two, know i cant wear the holy armor and i have to pay 2000 gold! plus people keep saying 'i shought you ware a holy savior, guess i was wrong"! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by saigemasterarrow (talk • contribs).
[edit] getting martin to dawn the silver sword
- i tryed this and it works, if you see martin go into battle with a dagger its because there enchanted and he's keep them with him and use them because of this, so when he's in the chapel cast invisability and go behind of him and take one , then reapeat for the other one and he'll take out his silver sword —The preceding unsigned comment was added by saigemasterarrow (talk • contribs).
