The article claims he may be related to Fathis Aren, but strangely enough there seems to be some connection between him and Fathis Ules (which might be why he sometimes goes to Chorrol). I got Fathis Ules to follow me around (using the Companion Share & Recruit mod) and Dovyn Aren would randomly show up at my houses or even in the Skingrad Mages guild. Dovyn is such a liar; he told me that he doesn't keep up with his old Thieves Guild contacts... 71.164.27.38 18:52, 5 November 2007 (EST)

Two observations about Dovyn Aren:

• I've seen him get killed while traveling between Chorrol and Imperial City. The old codger ain't afraid to mix it up with bandits and beasts.
• Today I found him standing by the door inside Fathis Ules' house. I guess every time he tries to get out of the Thieves Guild... they pull him back in.

Time and date: Sun's Dawn 12, 3E434, starting at around 12:45 am. 100% Chameleon in effect.

After finishing up exploring the sewers under the Elven Garden District, I decided to leave them through the entrance to Fathis Ules' house. After arriving on the first floor at around 1:00 am, I noticed Arvyn Aren going into the basement. Following him, I decided to pause and check this wiki on him. Only the one person mentioned his being seen in the sewers, so I decided to give a little something back. At worst, this is just one of those weird things that can happen.

Inevitably he walked through to the Sewer Waterworks. (At this point, I wish I had left more creatures behind, and see if he dealt with them. I might try to find an earlier save and see if he does this routine often.) In the end, it was simply Arvyn taking the scenic route to get outside into the Elven Garden District via the sewer exit. Really strange.

He then proceeded to leave the city and head towards Chorrol. I reloaded to before I pick-pockted his armor and weapon, as in light of the statement that he's willing to fight bandits, I felt bad leaving him unarmed. Kept the gold though; that should keep him safe from bandits anyway.
