Dreamworld Glitch

I have already completed the quest "Through a Nightmare, Darkly" but when I talk to the guy it resets itself, but all the doors to the tests are locked, trapping my in Dreamworld. Would a new copy of the game do the trick, or should I just start over?

Sounds like the permanent bound items glitch or its just a one-off and no, a new game would do nothing except waste 60 bucks so I would recommend reloading a older save or if you don't have one abandoning that character.--Corevette789 00:01, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Wow, something is seriously wrong. do you have any unofficial mods?--Corevette789 00:02, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
if your doing the bravil recomendation quest there is a number of problems with the quest, if you can still, finish the bravil recomendation. Mikeyboy52 05:56, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
have you tried to talk to Henatier about the Dreamworld while in it, if you have all the elements that is.... btw there is 4. Rosiku 00:47, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Load Error

Does the game have a propensity to not completely load cells if you're going really, really fast? I was running through the wilderness with a mount (the Midas Tiger, to be exact), and one of the cells didn't load all the way. It was still there, it was just...not loaded. Meaning it was completely default. After I saved to go see if a mod was doing this (no active mods that edited anything near that cell), I reloaded to see what was happening, and poof, it was fixed. Fruckert 08:25, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

I don't know, perhaps the Midas Tiger mod caused it?  ;) Things like that will happen with mods, but not in normal gameplay. --GKtalk2me 06:50, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
wat was ur speed? it happens if ur move at light speed. im surprised ur game didnt crash like mine all the time P90 user 13:28, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
Very, very, very fast, suffice to say. I didn't do any cheats or anything, but that mount is very fast. Fruckert 05:25, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
since this is mod related, doesnt belong on here, does it? im not sure though :D Mikeyboy52 03:18, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

I did the enchating glitch thing and got like 3620 speed and had to load every couple seconds, i kinda can understand but its wierd that it should stop all together. Rosiku 00:48, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Duplication

If you have more than one of the same exact scroll click on it then go to the item you want to duplicate and drop it!!!— Unsigned comment by 169.241.28.194 (talk) on 3 February 2010

This glitch is already on the page here. --- Masterlocksmith 21:30, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure if this was already mentioned or not yet, but I am a expert armorer and when I repair items fast when they are at 100 percent health they sometimes duplicate. This happened to me with a daedric cuirass, Saviour's Hide, and some other not important armor. When I droped one of the Saviour's Hides it disappeared but putting it in a container let me keep both. I don't know why it does this.

to help with those confused individuals...

could we put a new guideline on this page? theres 6 so far, but ive noticed many people putting shivering isle related bugs on this page, so would it be acceptable to have a 7th? "dont include mod related glitches" or something like that? Mikeyboy52 03:17, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

hmm.. well i've never seen any Si ones here but if you've seen alot i think it would be a good idea--GUM!!! 17:13, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Glitch: Getting the emperor's clothes

To do this glitch you must still have the Amulet of Kings, if you deliver it the emperor's body will disappear from the sewers. You also can't do the Dark Brotherhood quest that asks you to kill the prisoner in the Imperial city prisons, if you do the sewers will be reset.

1.Make sure you have obtained the staff of worms from the mages guild quest line or the spell from the shivering isle expansion called "risen flesh".

2.Obtain the Staff of Corruption from the Verminas Shrine quest.

3. Go into the the sewers and find the emperor's body.

4. Use the Staff of Worms or risen flesh to reanimate the emperor's body.

5. Once the body reanimates wait 2-3 seconds then cast the Skull of corruption and make a clone of the emperor.

6. Quickly kill the clone and at the final blow make sure you crosshair is on the emperor's body, then save before the body disappears.

7. Load the save you created and while it's loading keep tapping A to get into his inventory and take the clothes. — Unsigned comment by 66.227.142.78 (talk) at 01:58 on 15 February 2010

I'm going to have to make Rosiku II, heh, i wish i would have known this before, when i saw this, i had already done both - Level 28 Current - Master Skills: Alchemy --Rosiku 01:06, 5 March 2010 (UTC)--

Two Of Mine

Well, first i got the disk for Shivering Isles/KoTN (no Xbox Live). For months after my games was broken and neither worked. It does now, but one of my charactersgot a freeze game. I restarted and the character was restarted on quests! I was doing the DB at the time and they still know me, but wont talk about Contracts. My other characters still have theirs110.32.234.99 06:51, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

well if it was broken and neither worked, thats probably why, but did it only reset quests, or whole game? Rosiku 00:53, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Wait Glitch?

Hello! I was watching my boyfriend play doing the Battle for Kvatch quest. He was severely injured, so he retreated to the chapel to Wait in order to heal. The game told him that there were enemies nearby and the battle music kept playing. No matter where he went to rest, the game wouldn't let him. He eventually had to get a bounty in order to get arrested by a guard to fix it. I remember reading/hearing this somewhere, but is it mentioned on here somewhere? Is this a common occurance? O.o (StrawberryFlower 02:15, 22 February 2010 (UTC))

Yes normally to fix it you have to save your game and it will go back to the right thing--Corevette789 23:56, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

I forgot to mention, that he saved the game and went back to work with this problem. When he came back, the problem still persisted - so that didn't fix the problem. :( I hope it doesn't happen to me, since I'm playing a good character and hate getting her arrested. O.O (StrawberryFlower 14:32, 23 February 2010 (UTC))

I would have thought this was a thing where an enemy is trying to get to you and can't. I'd guess that an enemy you didn't see saw you and is trying to get to you. If they don't get there in like 5 minutes, they might be stuck or have spawned inside of something (it happens). Id just completely run away, they can't chase you forever.

That was the problem. He went did run away (he left Kvatch, and went to the nearby camp and kept running to other towns even), and no matter where he went, the music kept playing. Either it was a glitch (only because I've heard about it somewhere, and there were no monsters anywhere), or there was a REALLY persistent monster that followed him to the ends of Cyrodil! O.O (StrawberryFlower 16:02, 28 February 2010 (UTC))

You should have had invisibility. =) ...eventually, because they can't actually "see" you at all, they will stop. Rosiku 00:55, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

No, they wont. This will prevent fast-traveling and is even file-crippling I am not aware of a fix.--Corevette789 01:00, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

from my experience, that had worked.. and also from my experience, save game, load game, should stop because they are not in that room, and the music shouldnt be playing, if it doesnt work, try a couple more times, if not then i will have to make a fix for that --oops forgot to sign lol Rosiku 03:00, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Well this is kind of old but just in case you're still checking it, you should try jumping and waiting while in the air if it's a glitch then that should fix it.--TheAlbinoOrc 22:55, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

I came to this page because I had the same issue. I wanted to escape some enemies just west of the Imperial City on horseback to avoid fighting them, but every time I managed to escape one enemy, I came across another... and ended up charging on horse all the way to Skingrad. When I finally found a place free of enemies, I fast-travelled to Frostcrag Spire, only to find that the battle music was playing again with no enemies in sight. I got off the horse, went into the tower and did some spell-training (which took about 40 minutes IRL)... and the battle music continued. When I'd got to the level-up point, the battle music was still playing. I tried saving and reloading but it didn't work. I tried teleporting myself to various mages guilds (and reloading inbetween), including the imperial city, but it didn't work. Finally, I did manage to fix it by charging down the mountainside on horseback, nearly killing my horse in the process, running into Bruma and leaving my game idling with the character next to some guards. I left it like that for almost an hour, and finally I heard the battle music end at around the 55 minute mark (this was after the 40 minutes spent IN the tower). Totally ridiculous. ~ SotiCoto 18:06, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

I've played through the game on numerous characters, and i can confirm this does happen quite often. most of the time it happens when i can't find the 'nearby' enemy. I usually just swing my weapon around wildly and eventually hit whatever was 'there'. When this happens you can't fast travel either, making it problematic, especially if whatever is causing has an invisibility effect. Just run in one direction until the music ends. If that doesn't fix it, run to a town or city with lots of guards. usually whatever was causing it will disappear completely. hope this helped :) --Lumin722G 01:07, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

NPC Glitch

I was on the help for Burma quest and after getting arrested for stealing and getting out, whenever I talked to an NPC all they said was "Why do you disturb me? I need to find the shrine so I can sleep. I haven't slept in a long time." except if I stole something, the guards would do the arrest thing speech, but as soon as I got out no one would talk to me. Although, I went to Skingrad and the guy in the Paranoia quest came up to me and said his thing. I don't have any saves before this happened. What should I do? Also, when the NPCs were talking, you didn't hear anything and their mouths didn't move. Help? ! — Unsigned comment by 24.247.6.103 (talk) at 23:53 on 22 February 2010

Second thing first, QUOTE--Also, when the NPCs were talking, you didn't hear anything and their mouths didn't move. Help?!--UNQUOTE, that happens occasionally to me, most of the time actually, this really isn't much of a problem, but if you don't have any earlier saves for the first thing, i would have restarted, but keep that save in case someone discovers how to fix it. If you played on the PC, there is supposed to be commands to help with that, to advance further into the quest but you still might not be able to talk to the NPC. Rosiku 01:04, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
That line of dialogue ("Why do you disturb me? I must free the Shrine so that I can sleep. It has been so long since I have slept.") is supposed to be said by the Ghost of Rielus during the Sancre Tor mission. If you got it outside that quest, you're going to have to reload from an earlier save. Since you don't have any... you're going to have to restart. rpeh •TCE 12:36, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Additional Jump Height

It seems stair cases and other upward slopes can be used as ramps. If you run up one and manage to jump at the peak, you'll gain some extra jump height. Presumably the velocity of your jump gets added to that of your passage up the stairs.

Jumping too early usually results in no jump at all, while jumping too late means you've gone past the top of the stairs and you're no longer running upwards.

As the console button doesn't work for me (yes I know there's a mod for that but I can't be bothered hunting it down), I can't say whether the amount of additional lift is based on your speed/skill or not - but it seems logical that more speed would mean you were going up the stairs faster, so the final jump should be higher. My character has roughly 210 speed and around 90 acrobatics (thanks to enchantments). On a well executed jump, stairs can add roughly a meter or two of height (and a considerable amount of distance as a result).

- Bomb Bloke 12:26, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

tested it many times, even looked at it from different angles while i did it on the computer but it seems that its just a percpective thing. Mikeyboy52 03:56, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
well i'm pretty sure that you're wrong because i went to a alyed ruin that had a brige trap and fell down and i was ging to the oter side and jumped at the end and guess what? i went a great distence higher!
well well now cat fight... meow! it does depend mainly on your speed skill, but with more speed comes more needed timing, i had about 3000 speed and got on top of the bruma statue in front of the castle

Rosiku 02:57, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

This isn't a glitch. It's well-established that this does happen, and it's why people use ramps in this world. rpeh •TCE 12:38, 22 March 2010 (UTC)
at high-speeds easier to see, jump at high speed at same height, and jump at high speed with a ramp is completely different (fortify horse speed) Mikeyboy52 12:46, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Real ramps do allow you to convert horizontal movement into vertical, yes, but typically this only happens with a rolling or sliding object - and the effect occurs regardless of whether the object attempts to "jump" at the lip. Real reople walk, or run - and their legs end up absorbing most of the upward lift, assuming they don't step over the ramp altogether. But your Oblivion character actually slides. Given that this can only be triggered by jumping, and doesn't happen when simply running over an upward slope (in an attempt to emulate "real" legs, you instantly lose the upwards acceleration when clearing a slope), I would consider this unintended behaviour. Note also that any slope will do - even a short edge less then 10cm long can potentially be used to add a significant amount to your jump height, which is certainly not possible for a human on foot to achieve. - Bomb Bloke 07:33, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Agreed. I've experienced this as well many times. Especially early in the game, I often run from selling potions at the Mystic Emporium over to Jensine's to sell the rest of my stuff. Just for the additional Acrobatics training, I jump over any lip, stair, etc., including jumping over the street between the two stores. I can't count how many times that instead of landing half-way across the street (depending on the character of course), I'll hit the lip of the sidewalk just as I jump and suddenly find myself sailing clear across the street. The same thing goes for stairs and just about anything else small like that. It's clearly unintended behaviour as no other jump, even under the best of circumstances, comes anywhere close to it. I'm pretty sure height is affected as well. My guess is that the "super jumps" give you about twice the distance and maybe 1.25 to 1.5 times the height of a normal one. The problem, as other posters have noted (or noted their lack of observing it) is that the timing seems to be very fine and it'll only happen within a few pixels of hitting the lip/stair/whatever. I've written a more "presentable" version here. - Bomb Bloke 09:20, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Mythic Dawn Commentaries, vol. 1

PS3 user here -- what about MYTHIC DAWN COMMENTARIES, VOL. 1? I've tried to clone this book via the scroll method (failed) and the arrow method (failed again). When I use the staff of worms and skull of corruption, on both Baurus and Glarthir, I save the game as the corrupt clone is dying, but when I attempt to reload, it's a corrupt save every time, and the game crashes. Is it because of the book? The PS3? Any feedback? (I'll post the same question on the skull of corruption talk page). I'll say it again: PS3 user. 71.224.13.163 17:42, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Marcus

What version of Oblivion do you own? Most of those glitches only work on early, unpatched versions. --SerCenKing Talk 17:52, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
I own GoTY edition, the one with KotN and SI included. I might also add that I've had NO trouble duplicating other items (clothing, alchemy equiment, arrows) using the scroll method.71.224.13.163 21:23, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Marcus
I have the GotY edition also for the PS3, these glitches do work. when I duped mdcv 1 i used one of those many copies you see all over the place (filled the mages guild library with them :) )and duped it, it did work. The arrow method is fixed although thee clone isnt (hmmm) its probably timing and a little luck, but clone always works for me. the most simplest way though is the scroll dupe trick. Mikeyboy52 04:00, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
Since you have the latest patch, the duplication glitches won't work. --SerCenKing Talk 22:13, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
GotY version for the ps3 doesnt really have patches. some of the dupe glitches do work, like the scroll and clone ways. Mikeyboy52 05:05, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Arrow method was fixed. Clone method was fixed. Scroll method still works, but i don't have the Shivering Isles Expansion, but it still works to my knowledge. Try the different volumes, and second... Why Would You Need It Duplicated? Rosiku 01:00, 5 March 2010 (UTC)-----

NEED it duplicated? I don't, really, but I'm a collector and I thought it'd be nice to have a couple of copies as trophies, for the display cases, etc. Also, Mikeyboy52 had success with the clone method on PS3 GotY, but Rosiku says the clone glitch has been fixed. Hmmmm . . . Different users seem to get different results. Maybe my lack of success is an a-bomb thing? Mikeyboy, if you're inclined to share, how exactly were you successful? Which clone did you use, where were you, etc. I should also add that Light the Dragonfires is complete, just in case that has an effect. Thanks for the responses.71.224.13.163 19:04, 9 March 2010 (UTC)Marcus

i was using the PS3 normal version (not GotY), so i guess they didnt fix it in GotY Rosiku 02:54, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

If your trying to dupe the first book you get, you cant dupe it with scroll glitch (it works on the patched version) if you find another copy it works. Mikeyboy52 06:47, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
the first copy works with clone method, try it indoors with the power you get from SI and than Soc. save use arrow to kill, save in diff slot, load. permanet body Mikeyboy52 07:16, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Get Rid Of Patch

Hi, is there any way I can get rid of my oblivion patch so I can exploit that arrow duping glitch? --ModderElGrande 19:28, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Is anyone actually gonna answer this? --ModderElGrande 21:27, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Start the game, a menu should pop up prompting you to either select play,Data File, Options, Elderscrolls.com, Technical Support, Uninstal, or exit. You want to select Data File. This should pop up a screen that has a few check boxes next names of mods you have. Find the mod you want to disable/enable and click on the check box. Then select OK. Then back in the main pop up select play. It will probably prompt you that without that mod certain items may be lost. Click ok and the game should resume normaly with all aspects of the mod removed, including any items or quest progress that is specific to that mod. — Unsigned comment by 68.112.109.47 (talk) on 28 February 2010
Thanks, giving you a cookie for that. =D --ModderElGrande 13:17, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Umm... that's not going to remove the patch. That's a standard way of uninstalling mods. What you want to remove is the Official Patch, not the Unofficial one. The method above only works with the latter. For the GOTY edition, unistall the game then only load the first disk (no SI or KotN). That should take you back to a later patch although I'm not sure which one. --SerCenKing Talk 13:26, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Alright, I'll try that. I'm gonna back up all of my saved games first, then I'll proceed with what SCK said.. --ModderElGrande 14:45, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Or instead of doing all that, why dont you try the scroll duplication glitch, you'll find it much easier and you will remember the steps quite easily. The Grand Champ 19:32, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Cloned items and loot bags

It would seem that loot bags do not appear when too many cloned items are created. I myself have cloned several thousand of certain items, enough to sometimes make the game freeze or lag badly, but a loot bag is never created.

loot bags never appear in the ps3 GotY version, is that the version your using? Mikeyboy52 04:02, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
I'm using the 360 GotY version. I know loot bags appear in it. I have seen them before. — Unsigned comment by 173.67.0.77 (talk) on 2 March 2010
kk I'm no expert buy it may be because the game doesn't recognize how many items are there untill you close the menu, that's when the glitch actually takes effect. Mikeyboy52 05:17, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

does this work for normal PS3 version? cuz then i wold create LOADS of stuff Rosiku 02:50, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Yup, even on the GotY version it works. Mikeyboy52 10:41, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

new glitch....i think

well i think i found a new giltch but i don't know if it works with any thing other then keys...well what you do is use the staff of worms on a dead person that has or use to have a quest item and i think that there sould be a another one (or a new one)but i really don't know if it works! — Unsigned comment by 142.68.98.45 (talk) on 27 February 2010

I actually think this is established somewhere (maybe just on the individual pages), but I guess it would be a good addition to the glitches (if it isnt on there). I know the Necromancer's Amulet page has this info on it, just as an example. — Unsigned comment by Catmaniac66 (talkcontribs) on 28 February 2010
See here. --SerCenKing Talk 13:21, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
That's there, but the one he is talking about just requires the Staff of Worms. Reanimate someone like Caranya and when you kill her it will have the item again. Dont know if you want to add that or not, just pointing it out--Catmaniac66 13:34, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Doesn't work, just tested on a series of quest-items. If want a new one you have to use the Skull of Corruption to create a clone. Simply reanimating won't work. --SerCenKing Talk 19:45, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

thought it wouldn't work! but i only tried it on the person in the bruma quest where you have to get some persons necklace (i think her name was anora) i was just trying the staff of worms for the frist time and noticed that there was a new pair of keys!

you can get the necromancer amulet (permanetly) this way Mikeyboy52 06:49, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion for infinite clone idea

Could this method simply be used on a npc owning a house with no weapon? It would be the same although much less work on clearing out caves, as long as you don't mind killing an NPC. (Dorian, for example, would work nicely.)

Glitch with horses (Xbox 360)

For some reason, I have had horses appearing outside of cities gates that aren't owned by me. It doesn't make any sense for

some horse to randomly appear beside a city gate, right? Mathiusdragoon 00:40, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

there npc owned horses, for example the one that waits by the tunnel leading from the imperial city to the waterway (i think it was called, been forever since ive played) is owned by a woman that gets on it usually in the night. Mikeyboy52 04:04, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
ah, that makes sense. I had thought that was probably it, thank you. Mathiusdragoon 18:31, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Stretchy glitch

The stretchy glitch was already posted, but I found a new way to do it!

1.(optional) Obtain the Staff of Worms.

2. Get a weapon.

3. Go near a door that it loads to go through.

4. Make sure there is a npc or monster(can be dead, Staff of Worms will reanimate) nearby.

5. Paralyze the monster or npc and while they're falling, go in the door.

6. After it loads, wait until they get back up and kill them or paralyze them.

7. You should have: a puddle if you paralyzed or a stretchy mess if you killed.

Bizarre one-shot glitch?

Once, when i slept in the Imperial City shack, i heard the door activation noise when the load was over. I went directly out the door and ran into the first mate of the pirate ship, walking away from the door! I wonder if there is a lingering script somewhere that accidentally lists her as the owner of the shack? Yes, I know, this glitch is probably extremely rare and therefore not very notable, but has anyone else had something like it? — Unsigned comment by Mathiusdragoon (talkcontribs) on 4 March 2010

Ok, this is the only explanation I can think of: she's scripted to 'ambush' (enter conversation) you if you are in a certain radius of the ship. What happened is that she probably kept on following you till you slept, at which point she 'realised' she wasn't in the correct radius and returned to the ship. --SerCenKing Talk 22:29, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Is there a patch available that fixes this, not that I'm going to getting it, I'm just curious. Well, that and a friend of mine is having the same problem. --ModderElGrande 22:31, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
Not that I'm aware of. After all, it's just a little harmless AI glitchin'. --SerCenKing Talk 22:34, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

The glitch occured for me on the Oblivion: GOTY edition for Xbox360. Mathiusdragoon 14:41, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Than your best chance is to keep on updating your game, personally I never update my game because it would require updating my PS3, which would get rid of my ability to install a 2nd OS on it. Mikeyboy52 21:15, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

glitch glitch

yeah well wenever i use the scroll dupe glitch my game becomes super laggy is this because of my disc? or something else? and is there a fix for it? — Unsigned comment by 142.68.116.242 (talk) on 5 March 2010

If you dupe a high number of items then this will bring down the best of systems. How much are we talking?--Corevette789 00:18, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
I think its just some items. My game can take hundreds of daggers, scrolls, ect. but when I tried to dupe a shivering isles item my game crashed.--Arch-Mage Matt 00:46, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
I did about 9000 lesser soul gems (earlier out of boredom) and the same number of void salts just now. The Xbox didn't crash but I'm Not sure about the PC. I would check this right now but the system crashes without duping. *sigh*--Corevette789 00:49, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

sorry i had forgotten about this but any way what i tried to dupe was the blue arrows rorm the vithran quest from SI so i think thats probly why i'll try it with some normal items just to make sure!— Unsigned comment by 142.68.116.242 (talk) on 11 March 2010

Annoying display / audio glitch

I'm having a weird thing with my recent saved game where the grass and plant patterns on the ground are weirdly repetitive and boxy; also the audio of bird sounds etc is repeating on a really short loop. There are other things too, like lights in forts displaying wrongly (not the candle glitch), and NPCs saying / doing the same things over and over. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I've tried going back a few saves and the same thing is happening so I'm worried to go any further back in case it bugs my entire game and I can't get rid of it. Any advice? Create spells higher than your level

Discussion moved from User_talk:Nephele#Create spells higher than your level

This may be a known glitch so forgive me if it is. You know how you are only allowed to create spells as high as your current level? For instance, if your Destruction level is only 50, you cannot create Destruction spells that would require you to be level 100 to cast. Well, I noticed that if you temporarily fortify luck (I used 3 fortify 100 points spells) and then make the spells, it will pretty much let you make any spell you want. I haven't tested it with a straight fortify destruction spell (for instance), so it may work that way too. But still, it is easier (and cleaner) to create one or two fortify luck spells than individual spells for each school of magic. Please lend me your expertise and feedback. Thanks!

Glendale1 06:58, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

My destruction is currently 98, yes i make 100 spells with spellmaking alter, i simply cant cast them. Mikeyboy52 11:23, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
If you look at the Luck page, you will see that it boosts other skills by a small amount. This evidently applies to creating spells, but not casting them. rpeh •TCE 11:46, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Ill make a new char, complete mages guild quests asap and see if i can create a lvl 100 restoration spell with lvl 15 restoration. im pretty sure you can. (theres a grand soul gem in easy reach) Mikeyboy52 08:34, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Tested with 0 luck today, and still can. Mikeyboy52 01:49, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
What system are you on ? I know I've had this happen although I've never tried fortifying my luck/destruction (The spell I tried to make was with a 25 or less destruction and can be found here.--TheAlbinoOrc 03:13, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

() I was unable to duplicate this. I was creating a Feather on target, Mag. 100, Area 23, Dur. 120 (i.e., just barely requires Alteration 75) with my Alteration at 74 and luck at fortified to 388 (naturally 103 thanks to KCAS). I was using the altars at the Praxographical center in case that makes a difference.

Also, what do soul gems have to do with anything? Soul gems are used for creating items, not spells. Robin HoodTalk 16:21, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Just to clarify I couldn't make this happen. Does birthsign/race have something to do with this ?--TheAlbinoOrc 19:32, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Found out what it was, sorry, i was testing out a mod for the ps3 (because i thought it is to good to be true for the ps3 to be hacked) not only does it mod spell cast cost, it also mods the spellmaking alter Mikeyboy52 08:48, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Torch Glitch (PS3)

If you drop a torch it will make noise, now normally this wouldn't be a problem, but it permanently makes noise, even after picking up the torches and leaving the cell, is this just a glitch for me or has anyone else noticed this ?--TheAlbinoOrc 23:08, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure this has already been mentioned somewhere, though I cannot find it now (when I need it - Murphy's Law much?). The same audio glitch occurs when many Sigil Stones are dropped and later picked up. Darkdoom227 23:11, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

I have noticed both the torch and sigil sound glitches. Because when you clone either from a set amount the game will try and play all the sound they make all together but since it cannot play all together, it has no choice but to play the sound infinitely. It doesn't matter if you exit and enter the place the sound will still be there. The Grand Champ 19:24, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

leave cell, wait 3 days, go back, see if that works :P Mikeyboy52 23:26, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Dreamworld Glitch.

I've never accepted the quest to go into the dream world, but I slept in a bed to activate the Dark Brotherhood, and the game took me to the Dreamworld. I have the Amulet and everything, but even if I do all the jobs to get the elements it doesn't take me back. I can't get out without using cheats, and even then I still have the Dreamworld Amulet (It won't come off) I can't sleep in a bed at all because it takes me back to the Dreamworld. I tried doing the actual quest and it didn't work. I don't know what to do. I can still play the game just fine with the Amulet, but I can't level up.

Never had that happen but I've never done something like that I'll test it later tonight, as for getting rid of since it looks like you can use the console try player.removeitem "00089008" 1 or player -> removeitem "00089008" 1--TheAlbinoOrc 20:38, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Actually I have no clue how to test this on the PS3 since it involves getting the Dreamworld Amulet without taking the quest.--TheAlbinoOrc 19:23, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
You see the reason why the glitch is happening, the quest requires you to sleep regardless if the quest is active or not. If you have the amulet, then the quest already requires you to sleep, even if the quest is not active but it is one of your current quests.

The Grand Champ 19:27, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Stuttering LOD

I'm playing Oblivion on a console and I noticed a very annoying error/glitch/something. It seems the landscape in the distance is disappearing and reappearing every other second? Is this a normal issue with the game (which seems unlikely because I've played the game through 100% 3 times (on my fourth) and haven't noticed anything on my previous playthroughs).--Chef-Willis 02:08, 4 April 2010 (UTC)

Skull of Corruption

Moved from Oblivion:Glitches/Proposed

Getting items from fallen Arena combatants
For this, you must have the Skull of corruption and the staff of worms. It seems like any normal duplication glitch, but has a little more plot to it. There are two fights in the Arena where enchanted items are used, but not obtainable. These include Shimmerstrike and The Gray Aegis. When starting the fight in which your opponent has Shimmerstrike, merely corrupt him with the skull of corruption. You will not have to save upon killing the corrupt clone. Merely dispatching both the clone AND enemy will cause them both to drop the enchanted dagger, one obtainable, the other not. The Gray Aegis provides a little more trickery, including a lot of health, a (preferably)Heavy Raiment, and both the Skull of Corruption and the staff of worms. Since corrupting your opponent won't work with the Skull (due to The Gray Aegis' 100% resist magic enchantment), And since he later drops it when defeated (therefore resurrecting him and cloning him won't put the shield in his inventory), merely sit back and let him hack away with his sword. Healing potions or spells are highly advisable, as it often takes a while. Once his sword is broken, he will put away his shield, allowing you to dispatch him, resurrect him using the staff (Or Risen Flesh if you have SI), corrupt him using the skull, kill the clone, saving at the moment the clone is killed. Load your recently made save, pressing the action button until his inventory opens up. There, not only do you have a shield resistant of magic worth 15000 gold, but also a yellow team light raiment.

This post raises a broader issue: are these sorts of things really glitches? I don't consider most of the things you can do with the Skull of Corruption to be "glitches" in the accepted sense of the term...tricky, yes, but not glitches. Given that certain items are deliberately stripped from the duplicates, this seems like exactly the sort of thing the Skull was intended to do. I'm thinking of moving this example and the corresponding duplication "glitch" to Oblivion:Skull of Corruption, either in the Notes section or perhaps a new section of the page entirely (probably <noinclude>'ed so it doesn't get transcluded to Oblivion:Artifacts). Other opinions? Robin HoodTalk 23:03, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

It depends on your point of view, personally i consider the above more like a loophole, not a glitch. but i know many people that would say its a glitch. Mikeyboy52 08:52, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Missing Name

I think this is a bug or a mod conflict, but I can't find info about it. This just started this evening. I discovered Miscarand and entered it (unaware that I should wait until I'm further in the main quest). Every goblin and most of the zombies have the same item in inventory when defeated. The name is "<Missing Name>", complete with brackets. It uses the icon for fur gauntlets with the broken item overlay. It has no value in the defensive column (not even 0), and has a weight and value of zero. I now have about a half dozen of these, have exited the ruin and come straight here to see if this is a known bug. I have not tried to equip these or repair them. I am aware of "missing name" items related to a female mage in Cyrodiil and several items in Shivering Isles, but this appears to be completely different. What is this? [EDIT] These can be equipped, and appear to be iron gauntlets. However they can't be repaired, and have nothing in the health column. I have ten of them, and they form stacks of six. 98.211.124.55 04:00, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

To anyone that sees this: Don't Pick These Items Up. if dropped they usually crash the game, although accasionally you can use them as a weapon or armour and it looks funny :D Mikeyboy52 07:02, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Arrow duplication

This doesn't work. I just tried it EXACTLY how the page says to do it and it didn't work. I think it should be removed cause all it does is makes you shoot an arrow at an item. Oh and no I don't have the Patch--125.238.72.109 14:52, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Arrow duplication can be rather tricky. I suggest you stick to scrolls. As even they cant make as many as fast, they are nice and easy to use. If you prefer to continue with the arrow duplication though, try viewing some videos, it is usualy a small step that gets missed in these sorts of things. Stroggs 15:03, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
I found out after trying it again and again that the armor piece I was trying to duplicate had 99 health. My bad. But one thing that should be added is that it works on the Greaves of Labor. The ones that fortify fatigue by 35. Also works on the Gauntlets of midnight--125.238.72.109 01:59, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Floating Rings?

It seems that every ring I drop that I've used for the permanent enchantment glitch lacks the physics that they usually have and will not fall, similar to the paintbrushes (which actually DO fall in my version of the game). Has this effect been observed before as result of the enchantment glitch or is it just me? --Chef-Willis 15:05, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

It depends on what console you are using really. The PS3 has a differant set of patches usualy, and lots of the glitches made for the '360 dont work over there. Yet it may be vise-versa too. I think we may need some conformation on this one. Stroggs 15:24, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
just tested this and for me it only applies to "Fortify Strength" there are 2 wierd paintbrushes on the ps3 GotY version (auto patched) that will dive below ground or float above ground. in that one necromancers room in anvil i believe Mikeyboy52 07:05, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Wait, what? If it happens often and it's a glitch, why shouldn't we document it? Aren't we supposed to be a resource? I myself have seen it quite a few times. -216.49.220.19 22:40, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Check out the guidelines on the main glitches page.--TheAlbinoOrc 22:44, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
Well it says that the glitch shouldn't be documented if the means to accomplish it are strange and unexpected, however the means of accomplishing this glitch is simply talking to a person on horseback, a common occurrence (and sometimes not even triggered by the player). I've had guards talk to me after committing a crime that have spun in place. -216.49.220.19 22:53, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
I think what caused it was cause when you talk to them repeatedly they don't stop riding. They are scripted to be a quick response then end contact but I spoke 3 times in a row and it caused this to happen. To be honest it reminded me of something from a horror movie seeing her body flip out like that--125.238.73.254 11:07, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Like the slaughterfish in the jail sewers (doing the DB questline this has always happened to me just after the average gate) that pops out of the water and flops around on the ground ?--TheAlbinoOrc 21:24, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, no thats not what i meant, have you ever completed tutorial, gone strait to vilverin and noticed a slaughterfish diving into the ground? Usually i see it when i've spent a lot of time in the tutorial (getting 100 sneak). its similar to that, but theres also one thats near the waterfront area that tends to do wierd things with the graphics (if you know where to look and your a little lucky) Mikeyboy52 08:20, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
No, I hadn't ever seen that although it would explain why with one of my characters I couldn't find what was stopping me from resting down near the grass/sand line at Vilverin. (The reason I've never seen this could be the most time I've spent in the tutorial has been with Ghurhak Gro-Demril and that only got my sneak up to 30.)--TheAlbinoOrc 17:02, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Infinite money from Dorian for low-level players

I am not sure if this is well known, but I have watched a lot of videos on how to get the money from Dorian and the majority of the require a paralyzing spell. Seeing as the character I am using for glitches is about Level 2, he doesnt have enough Illusion skill to perform the required spell, so thus I am not able to do the glitch sucesfully.

However, after doing some hurried research on this wiki, I have found that low-level players who do not have a high enough illusion to the paralyzing spells can easily get a variant of it as a Greater Power from the Serpent Stone, which is located South-East of Leyawiin, below Fort Blueblood. When you get the Greater Power, it does a simple Paralyzing spell that will paralyze the target for a certain amount of seconds [Cant remember exactly how long] and does 5 damage on them. However, I have tested it on Dorian and have found out that it works as well as a normal Paralyzing spell!

So, unless this is already well known [I dont think it is, since it isnt mentioned in any videos or articles I watched/read] this could be the solution for low-level players wanting to use this glitch. Crvena-Zastava 11:07, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

normal sky in oblivion

i was about to go and kill sir berich in the KOTN questline and found an oblivion gate near the priory of the nine. i went through (it was the cave one) and when i got halfway between the gate and the cave entrance the sky turned all cloudy...and not the usual red oblivion gate clouds. it was regular, nirn clouds. as far as i know, it went on until i entered the main tower. there was one point that, for a split second, when i exited the cave, the sky looked like lava. anyone else have this? — Unsigned comment by 98.142.49.26 (talk) at 18:33 on 28 April 2010

Permanent Spell Lighting Effects

I have run into a game killer glitch. It always happens when I am high level, usually very close to having all skills maxed. When I cast a spell, the lighting effects do not disappear completely. Also, containers take a long time to open. Even my own inventory can take a long time to open. Ultimately, doors will not open and thus my game becomes unplayable. Has anyone else seen this? My cousin has had it occur, but I have seen no other talk of it. Glendale1 01:26, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

If your on PS3, you play to many games, delete some game data. If your on PC remove mods and delete useless files on your harddrive. If your on xbox, get rid of your xbox. Just kidding (i hate xbox though) get rid of some of the users you have on the actual xbox to clear up some space. In basics, your using to much of a harddrive. Happend on my PS3 not to long ago. Permanent Enchantment effects glitch patched?

I am trying to keep the +50 acrobatics enchantment from the boots of spring heel jak By getting arrested and serving jail tim with them on. However I do not keep the enchantment once the game removes the items from me. Have they fixed this bug to prevent abuse?

Duplicate the boots (with scrolls) than equip one, than select the same scrolls twice, drop the boots. You will have a permanet +50 acrobatics enchatment. The jail time one doesnt always work. To have this work though, I believe you have to wait untill after the associated quest. Mikeyboy52 07:51, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

I moved it from the Proposed Glitches page, I think. The reason I put it here is because any time anyone dies in a chair, you can sit on top of them occupying the same space at the same time (i.e., you're not just sitting in their lap like you would in reality...to the extent that sitting in the lap of a dead person in a chair is ever part of reality). It's certainly quite minor and not all that common, so it may be a bit of a judgement call as to whether it belongs here or not. It was certainly more worthy than some of the stuff I cleared out! :) Robin HoodTalk 04:37, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
I dont really think visual glitches should be noted, theres to many to name, that is, unless you have a tera bytes worth of space (exaggeration, but you get the point). Mikeyboy52 09:12, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
This can cause other problems, for example if you sit on/in a corpse you might end up being unable to get back up because the body got in the way of you looking at a clear space causing you have to reload.--TheAlbinoOrc 18:45, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
That would be a more noteworthy problem. If we put the glitch back in, we should definitely add that information to it. Robin HoodTalk 18:59, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Testing this many times the most I've got is the body gets in the way, but than it spasms and you get up just fine, is there anything specific that can cause this? Perhaps the way the body is placed? Mikeyboy52 21:11, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

Imperial city quest glitch

I noticed that when I am in the Imperial City and have a quest located outside of the city the actuall location of the quest is the opposite direction that your compass sais to go. So to fix this I leave the city before I start going toward the quest location. — Unsigned comment by Hellix (talkcontribs) on 28 May 2010

If you are in a city, the quest arrow will point to the exit of the city, even if you could go a shorter way. I don't know about a glitch, more like the computer is bad at making paths... --DKong27 Talk 22:46, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
Yeah for example: if Boris goes looking for you during one of the main quest segments he always goes by way of the main roads even if there's a faster route so this is just one more case of poor pathfinding AI.--TheAlbinoOrc 23:58, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
This bug occurs at a couple of points in the Imperial City, and so far as I've seen, only the Imperial City. I think the prime location I've seen it at is the path under the bridge to the Arcane University. I'm not sure if I've ever tried following where the quest marker points, but I know once you leave that general area (probably the cell), it figures out the path correctly after a certain point. spell method

I'm not sure if its a patch, I use ps3 goty version, but the spell method wont work for bound armour. You can only choose one bound effect per spell. I'll take it out for now, but if anyone can say for sure that on vanilla (without patches) it works, we can throw a patch note in it. Mikeyboy52 01:20, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
