I don't know if it's okay to put CS-related easter eggs on the quest pages, so here's one I found:
In the script for this quest, the variable that indicates whether you killed the goblins or just ran away is called ranawaylikeapunk. --M2pt5 20:35, 27 July 2006 (EDT)

[edit] Bug?
Ran into an interesting possible bug - after the 'introduction' in the blackwood training area and being given the Hist Sap - I stay locked in the 'observe' mode and can't open my inventory to take the hist sap. Jeetum has gone back upstairs but I can't escape the locked mode. using 'tcl' is somewhat humourous as i can only move vertically :) What is the code to advance the quest from the setstage commands? --MacFodder 04:51, 1 March 2007 (EST)
SetStage FGD08Infiltration 30should do it, including re-enabling player controls- Any chance you remember the sequence of events well enough to have any idea what might have triggered this bug? From what I can piece together in the construction set (it's been a while since I did the quest myself so my memory doesn't help too much here), what's supposed to happen is:
- You join the Blackwood Company, which sets the stage to 20 and gives the quest update:
-
- I was able to join the Blackwood Company. I am to report to the training room to prepare for an upcoming mission.
- Once Jeetum has gone to the basement and once you approach the quest marker (distance <= 512), the controls are disabled and he starts in on his speech, which has three parts:
-
- The four of you have a mission. The settlement of Water's Edge has contracted us to take care of some goblins in the area.
- Apparently, they've been giving the locals some trouble. Shouldn't be a problem for you four, though.
- The three of you should be prepared by now, but as you see we have a new recruit with us as well. I'll need a word with you, recruit.
- He is then supposed to immediately start talking to you, saying:
-
- You'll need to be careful on this mission. Sometimes new recruits have complications. They are not used to our methods.
- Take this. It will increase your skills in battle. We use it often. It is a good, good thing.
- He gives you the hist sap.
- You then have the dialogue topic "What is this?", followed by the topic "You smuggle Hist Sap?"
- When he answers the smuggling topic, the quest is supposed to update to stage 30 and you get back your controls.
- It sounds like you were given the hist sap, but then did you get the followup dialogue topics? Did you go through them or did you somehow escape out of them? It would be useful to figure out what triggers this and what players should do to avoid the problem. --Nephele 21:54, 4 March 2007 (EST)
[edit] caption
I don't know if the caption for the picture is supposed to be ironic, but it's pretty obviously wrong otherwise. Shouldn't we change it to reflect the docile nature of the "goblins"? Lalanas 18:36, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
[edit] ZOMBIES?! GHOSTS?!
i just did this quest and when i returned to water's edge to talk to the guy, the people you actually killed were standing around him, except you couldn't activate them or hit them with a weapon and their eyes were black. they were slowly drifting across the screen. has anybody had this issue or know if it will affect my game file? Read the bugs section on the main page, there are reasons stated there. Volanaro
[edit] Another Bug
- You are required to speak with Jeetum-Ze who is positioned on the staircase between the first and second floors of the Blackwood Company Hall. After accepting you into the Blackwood Company, he asks you to follow him to the training room and then procedes to walk between the first and second landings in a continuous never ending cycle. Fix is unknown as of yet.
This bug has been moved here from the main article. Bugs without any explanation for what causes the bug, nor any recommendations for how to fix the bug, really don't help any readers. The reason for describing bugs related to quests is to either let readers know what they should do (or avoid doing) in order to not trigger a bug. Or else, a bug report should give readers tips on what to do after the bug has occurred. This post does not provide any such type of useful information. And since most players complete this quest without any such bug, it is also not a bug that invariably occurs. --NepheleTalk 21:09, 9 August 2007 (EDT)
I discovered a, sort of, trick with this one, just approach the guy (Jeetum-Ze) in hand-to-hand combat after talking to him, block his way when he's at the lowest point in his cycle and beat him till he gets out of his routine (seriously it worked, and i was just doing it out of irritation :)), then run away. DON'T KILL HIM. --oRiX 19:03, 13 August 2007 (+2GMT)
[edit] Hist sap immunity?
If you are playing as an Argonian, does the mission continue as normal when you consume the Hist sap?--Merco 10:41, 19 August 2007 (EDT)
- Sure does, although Modryn will later state that he is "a bit surprised the sap affected you the way it did, given your heritage" --Saruuk 19:27, 19 August 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Needing Verification
I am a bit dubious about one of the sentences mentioning sheep in the notes section. I have tested it over and over again but I have never encountered the dead bodies being replaced by walking sheep...--Matthewest •T•C•E• 04:55, 17 April 2008 (EDT)
- Its true, although the sheep are dead, just standing along the fence. As soon as I saw it, I thought, "Like lambs to the slaughter," but that might just be because I'm a horrible person. :P Also, in my game, in addition to the lambs, the people I had killed as goblins were standing and slowly moving backward, like in the glitch mentioned before. I'm going to remove the verification. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.8.2.73 (talk • contribs).

- I, too have encoutered the standing, backward-moving bodies glitch. It seems the "needs verification" still hasn't been removed, so I will. 99.244.101.16 13:09, 19 May 2008 (EDT)

- This sounds like the more generic frozen corpse bug (can't find a link at the moment). Can anybody confirm whether this is the same thing or something different? For now, I've left the VN off the page, cuz it's not hurting anything, but if it IS the same generic bug, then we can remove the entire entry from this page. --Robin Hood (Talk • E-mail • Contribs) 21:46, 20 May 2008 (EDT)
