[edit] Question

(I don't know where to place this, so I put it at the top). My question: Is there any way to complete this quest (Information Gathering) BEFORE Mystery at Harlun's Watch so that you can get the BEST versions of the Amulet of Interrogation AND the Mind and Body ring? The prerequisites on the individual quest pages are a little different, so I wanted to make sure. The Information Gathering page lists Mystery at Harlun's Watch and The Stone of St. Alessia as prerequisites to begin the IG quest, but, The Stone of St. Alessia quest page lists Information Gathering as a possible NEXT quest (along with Mystery at Harlun's Watch and The Nobles Daughter). Obviously, the best-case scenario from a leveled-item perspective would be to get the Amulet of Interrogation between level 5 and 9, have your character level up, and then do Mystery at Harlun's Watch to get the Mind and Body Ring at level 10-19. Is this possible, or is Information Gathering listed as a possible next quest on the Stone of St. Alessia page because it IS available as a next quest, but ONLY if The Stone of St. Alessia was the last of the three prerequisites completed? I suspect this is the case, but it's good to make sure. Thanks. (PS3 user who apologizes about his hideous number of unintended test edits!) 204.108.237.194 11:49, 14 May 2009 (EDT)Marcus

I've never actually done this quest (I got to the Mystery at Harlun's Watch and had cleared it prior to the quest and can't download the patch), so what happened if Ajum-Kajin dies?--Hicky 07:07, 10 March 2007 (EST)

He can't die before the quest starts, because he doesn't exist in the game until the start of this quest. But if he gets killed by the player during the quest (i.e., while being tortured), you are told that "Ajum-Kajin has died. I will be unable to learn any more from him. Oreyn is unhappy I took the interrogation too far." You don't get the amulet of interrogation reward, but otherwise the quest is over and you proceed to the next as usual. It is a bit ambiguous, though, what happens if he is killed by someone else during the quest (i.e., by a beast along the road)... it seems possible that in that case the quest will glitch and become impossible to finish. --Nephele 18:28, 14 March 2007 (EDT)

If he is killed by someone else during the quest, it will indeed glitch. This just happened to me earlier tonight, and I have so far been unsuccessful in getting the quest to proceed in anyway. I got the quest to update to the Interrogation portion by reanimating Ajum's corpse and walking it into Oreyn's house, but then I had to interrogate him, a remarkably futile attempt since walking corpse's don't talk.71.76.227.253 01:44, 4 June 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Strange Basket?

Did antbody notice the basket you can move but cant pick up in glademist cave?-Mr. V 20:31, 22 August 2007 (EDT) Theres a ton of baskets like that.

[edit] What happens if...

...I pickpocket the Blackwood Ring of Silence from Ajum-Kajin before he commits suicide with it? Will this screw up my game? I am asking purely because it would be fun to have a suicide ring.--Kittyboymaxj 22:04, 5 November 2007 (EST)

(a) Nearly nothing and (b) Nothing. You'd have to have incredibly good timing to pickpocket the ring of silence because he doesn't have it in his inventory until moments before he uses it. If you really did manage to take it, then yeah, you'd screw up the quest because he wouldn't be dead. But it's a lot of trouble to go to when you can just wait until he dies then take it off his corpse without messing up the quest. At which point, well, you have a useless ring. See Blackwood Ring of Silence and discussion on that talk page. --NepheleTalk 03:48, 13 November 2007 (EST)

[edit] Fast Travel

Deleted the part about Fast Travel. I'm doing the mission right now, and I can't fast travel there. The one who said that probably went there before or passed through it while going somewhere else.

[edit] Lost Ajum-Kajin!

somewhere on the road to Chorrol, just north of the Imperial City, I lost Ajum-Kajin. I had to fight several creatures along the way (bear, wolf, etc). After all of this, I could not find Ajum-Kajin anywhere.

I decided to wait at Oreyn's house, but that didn't work. It's been several weeks and Oreyn's house is still empty. I can't find him or Ajum-Kajin. And now, I can't do any more fighters guild missions because the other leaders say that I need to talk to Oreyn.

Is my "life" over? or is there a way to redeem this mission? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dinkyreverse (talkcontribs).

If I recall correctly, Ajum-Kajin will stop if he gets too far away from you, but he probably ran off as a result of being hit, so now you'll have to find him before he'll actually move. Does your quest marker still point to him? If you're on a PC, you can also use the Console and just type in player.moveto 000356DE, and that'll take you right to him. If you're not, you'll have to find him the hard way (search all over the place) or load an older saved game, if you can. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 21:49, 17 June 2008 (EDT)

ok. Thank you. I'll have to hunt him down. I'm on the Xbox360. I'll keep searching. Dinkyreverse 01:55, 19 June 2008 (EDT)

Is there a limit to how long this guy will remain standing in the middle of nowhere if you lose him? It's been about 2 or 3 weeks in game, and I can't find him to save my life. Has he despawned or is he still standing in the middle of... somewhere?--69.92.239.229 21:27, 14 July 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Misplaced Oreyn

To start the mission i spoke to Oreyn, but he wasn't in Chorrol. He was at Atatar, the Ayleid ruin in the quest Azani Blackheart. After getting Kajin to to follow me i return to the ruins and talk to Oreyn. Oreyn tells me to interrogate Kajin, so i fast travel to his house in Chorrol and go through the process of interrogating him. After i interrogate him however Oreyn is no where to be found. Any ideas?

Well, like one of the above comments mentioned you could use the console command but if your on the 360 you may have to reload, but if your like me and have two saves that are very recent then you may want to search the roads or places youve been to since you talked to him.--LuciusZelgius 21:13, 20 November 2008 (EST)

i have a similer problem. i used tcl while in one of the azzani blackhart mision and he is now stuk outside the walls, miles away from the interier. i allso made a few copys of him ad i whant them gone. any sugesgtions?

Click on him, move to a suitable spot, "moveto player" will get him to a more useful location; clicking and "disable" for the others should deal with them. Though personally I'd be concerned about what multiple Modryns might've done quest-wise and would reload from a save prior to all of that stuff happening. --Cbh 15:34, 19 May 2009 (EDT)

[edit] Persuasion consequences

Is it perhaps worth mentioning in the article that the more direct means of persuasion counts as an assault for each "persuading"? Though there may be no repercussions, some players prefer to maintain a clean slate, so perhaps this should be pointed out rather than have someone only notice their character's "conscience record" later in the game... --Cbh 18:00, 31 August 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Moved from the Article

  • During the Azani Blackheart quest, if you managed to get the bug where Modryn Oreyn stays at Atatar throughout the rest of the game (or until you follow him in there), this has a possible annoying outcome on this quest. When you take Ajum-Kajin to Oreyn, he will tell you that you must interrogate him and make him sit on a chair in Oreyn's house. So when you tell Ajum-Kajin to sit in the chair he will go and walk to the chair in Oreyn's house, but he is at Atatar! You must follow Kajin all the way to Modryn Oreyn's house in Chorrol. Fast-Traveling is an option, though there is a chance that Kajin may die. Kajin has no marker on him, but there is no chance of him getting lost along the way because he sticks to the road and heads straight for Chorrol.
    • Interrogating Ajum-Kajin could actually be done on his way to Chorrol. The only problem about that is he runs away, turns invisible, and restores his health.
This might be true... but why would you do this? Why would you go on to the next stage before completing the previous one properly? A brief note is all that is required. –rpehTCE 19:28, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
