[edit] After 'A plot revealed'

Is it possible that J'skar can be killed whilst on his way to the Imperial City? It's just that after completing the quest, I cannot find him anywhere in the Arcane University.--Merco 10:53, 19 August 2007 (EDT)

Since he is no longer essential after the quest is completed, yes. --NepheleTalk 13:30, 19 August 2007 (EDT)
No, he remains essential even once he's returned to the Arcane University, I've escorted him back there on foot before now just to see where he goes and he got KO'd several times on the way to no ill effect.
He doesm't seem to stick around at the university though for more than a few days, I'm gonna try work out where exactly he goes to -- Ryuujin 85.62.18.3 14:57, 4 September 2007 (EDT)
If you escort him back to the Arcane University before completing the quest, then he will still be essential. But when you talk to Hannibal Traven to finish A Plot Revealed (i.e., when you get a rank increase and a fame point), J'skar is changed to no longer be essential. Since it is easily possible to travel faster than J'skar and beat him back to the Arcane University, he can end up being non-essential and killable while still traveling to the university. --NepheleTalk 15:09, 4 September 2007 (EDT)
I used to have problems with that too. Most of the time he just stands next to the Bruma Mages Guild entrance(inside) and says he's going to the Arcane University but never moves and when I get there I don't find him, when I return to the Bruma hall I can't find him there either. It's easy to fix it if you use the wait function and then fast travel to the University. --Sundaroct131088 17:55, 4 September 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Disappears after the Bloodworm Helm

He disappears as soon you ask Traven about the Bloodworm Helm, as it is coded into the topic dialog.--202.7.166.180 09:02, 14 November 2007 (EST)

[edit] Is that right?

I doubt seriously doubt that comment about J'skar being disabled perhaps someone could take a look at the constuction set and verify that? Volanaro 06:01, 26 February 2008 (EST)

It's true. The first step of the Bloodworm Helm quest adds the map marker for Fort Teleman and disables J'skar. –RpehTCE 06:07, 26 February 2008 (EST)
Ok, shame though, i liked him! :( Volanaro 06:11, 26 February 2008 (EST)

[edit] Re-enabling J'skar after starting next quest in Mages Guild

If J'skar vanished and you want him back:

1. Go to some location you want to see J'skar

2. Open console (press ~)

3. Type prid 1cef1

4. Type moveto player

5. Type enable

6. Press ~ again

When you turn around, J'skar will suddenly pop up in his usual Copperfield way ;]

He will then offer usual mages gulid rumors and basic destruction training. I've respawned him that way because Nikki, my Khajiit girl seems to have some feeling towards him :>

go and see for yourself —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.20.50.63 (talkcontribs).

[edit] Where is he ?

I can't find this guy anywhere. I haven't even touched the Mages Guild quests yet, and he's nowhere to be found. Not even inside the guild hall's restricted area during the time he's supposed to be eating. Is he disabled till you start the recommendation quest or something ? (PS3) --200.106.14.54 16:10, 1 May 2009 (EDT)

You know he's invisible, right? –RpehTCE 01:27, 4 May 2009 (EDT)

[edit] Dispelling

When Bruma chapel is under attack, there would be Female necromancer taunting J'skar.

I happened to have dispelled J'skar from his invisibility, and the necromancer did not respond to his, neither did J'skar.

The second time I did this, she noticed him immediately and started attacking. Has anyone tried this? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.195.1.61 (talkcontribs) on 3 May 2009.

[edit] Schedule and services

So, yesterday I did some changes to the page, based on my in-game experiences. It's quite difficult to nail his schedule (I still have to check the Recommendation one), but I also checked his services during the A Plot Revealed quest, and I'm 99% sure, that he doesn't offer any services before the quest is completed. I corrected it once, and now it has been changed back. Specifically, it's the line describing that he will offer his services, but only if you HAVEN'T talked to Arch-Mage Traven. I think that one is untrue, but to be sure, I think a third opinion would be useful, before we edit his page to death. So; Anybody with the CS (or in-game for that matter) - lets hear it! Krusty 17:35, 18 May 2009 (EDT)

My bad there. He offfers his services only after the quest. I changed the sentence that way because I wasn't too sure myself and since I couldn't understand if it meant after or before it was finished. That said, I'll correct the page. --SerCenKing Talk 02:48, 19 May 2009 (EDT)
No problem! Btw, I just examined a theory based on one of the above questions on this talk page. Invisible or not, he does NOT exist in the game before the Recommendation quest is started. I checked before I joined the guild, and after, and he was nowhere to be found - until I talked to Jeanne about her recommendation. Then he spawned at the bottom of the southern staircase to the Living Quarters. I think this information is important and belongs somewhere on his page, even though I'm not sure where... Krusty 18:07, 19 May 2009 (EDT)
Minor correction to the above discovery; Im not sure, but I think he spawns near Volanaro, who will cast some kind of spell at him. For testing, try this; Wait until everybody is in the cellar. Talk to Jeanne and begin the quest. Cast a Detect Life-spell and follow Volanaro. He will cast a spell (don't know which one) at the newly spawned J'skar as the very first thing he does. Anybody can figure this mystery out in the CS? Krusty 18:30, 19 May 2009 (EDT)
He spawns at stage 10 in the Bruma Recommendation quest and will appear in the southeast bedroom in the basement. –RpehTCE 12:17, 20 May 2009 (EDT)

Okay, I finally decided to check the schedule as it doesn't seem to get any more precise than this. The reason I say this is, that it very much seems like he's responding to the quest stages. At Stage 10 he will stay frozen (at the bottom of the southern stairway if you talk to Jeanne on the "top floor" and in the sotheastern room if you talk to her in the living quarters). He will stay frozen until you speak to Volanaro at Stage 20 - then he will begin to wander. And I'm not sure, but I think he entered the meeting place the moment you give Volanaro the book (Stage 40). Nevertheless, it might need a doublecheck in the CS, just to see if those observations are true - and then maybe add them in a note if we are that perfectionistic. I also changed the order of the schedules - to make it easier to read, and changed the kindda over-complicated schedule during the Recommendation quest to something far more simple. And he actually lives his life in that basement - also when he's invisible. Anyway, with those changes, the schedule is fine with me. Krusty 17:08, 20 May 2009 (EDT)
