I just completed Fingers of the Mountain, Part II and the version of the Finger of the Mountain spell I got is "Shock Damage 200pts in 10ft on Target" not 5ft. I was level 37 when I got the spell (the spell costs 1247 magicka to cast with a destruction skill of 77, oh so useful). So the description for the level 26+ is incorrect but I'm not sure at what level it becomes 10ft rather than 5ft. --Sczee

Thanks for pointing that out. I checked in the construction set, and only the level 26+ spell has an area of 10ft instead of 5ft; I fixed the entry on the page. (And I'm guessing your character's luck must be 76 for that to be the magicka cost of the spell... both destruction skill and luck will affect the cost). --Nephele 11:08, 18 November 2006 (EST)
Ok I only have the Xbox 360 version so I had no way to check other than manually getting the spell at the different levels. And yes my luck was at 76 when I checked the cost. --Sczee
added "Some of this difference might be justified by the fact that this spell deals the damage instantaneous, while custom spells will always spread the damage over 1 second or more. " this line to the FOTM section --Arcatus 21:15, 15 May 2007 (EDT)
While true, there is something else to take into consideration. Using custom spells, you can only deal 100 damage maximum. The two highest FOTM spells deal more than 100, as you must know. 83.226.251.44 19:36, 16 January 2008 (EST)

[edit] Spell Notes section mostly irrellevant

The spell notes section seems to have been copied wholesale from a different page; pretty much all of its information is not relevant to this page (which deals solely with leveled spells). The only point worth keeping is the explanation of the novice/apprentice/journeyman/expert/master levels. 208.5.238.200 08:00, 2 May 2007 (EDT)

That's because it WAS copied wholesale from a different page. Or, rather, it was auto-included using the template {{Oblivion:Spell_List_Notes}}.  :) --Deathbane27 08:31, 2 May 2007 (EDT)
But my point was that it shouldn't be here at all. It references spells and characters that aren't mentioned on the page; worse, it starts by incorrectly saying that "The cost for most of these spells matches the value you would calculate from the Spell Cost equation"--all of the versions of the three available spells listed differ significantly from their predicted costs. 208.5.238.200 11:00, 2 May 2007 (EDT)
