[edit] May, not Will

I hesitate to disagree with the creator of the UOP but you should be transported outside the campus section of the university if suspended whilst on its groups. That means that being trapped should never happen, hence my text tweak. –RpehTCE 13:57, 5 February 2008 (EST)

[edit] Mixup?

In the article it says that you 'cannot' assault a member of the guild, so you wouldn't have to get the Nightshade and Mandrake Roots. In the questlog at the bottom it says that those are the ingredients to fetch when you stole from a guild member. The Dragon Tongue and Redwort Flowers are therefor not neccesary, as I understand. I still can't try this out, not until Friday I think, so if someone could check whether the questlog in the article is wrong or it's the other way around? - Korunox 10:27, 20 February 2008 (EST)

It's not a mixup - both parts are correct. The comment says that the assault scripts have been commented out. The quest stages remain in place, but it's impossible that they will ever be accessed except through the console. –RpehTCE 10:38, 20 February 2008 (EST)
What I mean is: the two parts contradict eachother. The first part says to get Dragons Tongue and Redwort Flowers after theft, and the questlog says to get Nightshade and Mandrake Root after a theft.
I double checked it on the article. If the questlog is right then you would never need to get Dragons Tongue and Redwort Flowers, because these are for assault where the first part of the article says they're for theft. If the questlog is right, then it is kind of useless to mention the places to find Dragons Tongue and Redwort Flowers here.
Questlog requires Nightshade and Mandrake root for theft
Article requires Dragons Tongue and Redwort Flowers for theft
See where I'm going? - Korunox 10:51, 20 February 2008 (EST)
Don't forget that "Stages are not always in order of progress". I can't check this right now, but I'd imagine that the theft script sets stage 10 then stage 25 - the entries are in the wrong order. –RpehTCE 11:05, 20 February 2008 (EST)
That would certainly explain it. I can't play right now, otherwise I'd first have checked in-game what it told me to get. - Korunox 12:42, 20 February 2008 (EST)
Without a doubt, in game you are required to get Dragon's Tongues and Redwort Flowers for stealing. --NepheleTalk 12:58, 20 February 2008 (EST)

[edit] Not getting expelled

If you mean never get expelled then I can't say but I know you can get suspended. But not expelled but if it means its like the fighters guild and dark brotherhood factions you can't get suspended or expelled. He/Shes very wrong it is still possible —The preceding unsigned comment was added by EmawWyvern (talkcontribs).

Umm, sorry, what are you trying to say? Is this in regards to the comment under Oblivion:Mages Guild#Third Offense? If so, the sentence clearly states that as Archmage you do not get permanently expelled. The comment has nothing to do with whether or not you can get suspended. Which is why the comment is under "Third Offense" and not under "First Offense" or "Second Offense." --NepheleTalk 21:57, 8 March 2008 (EST)
I agree with that; I don't think that particular fact needs to be verified. However, it should maybe be cleared up about what happens when you do commit an offense: does the Imperium punish you with a fine, or do you get suspended from the guild until you give Raminus some more ingredients? I just caught today as Arch-Mage and I know for sure what occurs. All that happens is that you may get a bounty for your crime. No ingredient gathering or suspension at all. I've changed the page to reflect this. --Xyntfos 19:16, 12 July 2008 (EDT)
Except that you can get suspended even when you're Arch-Mage, and you can be forced to collect ingredient samples to be reinstated. That's one aspect of this that we are quite sure of. See the lengthy discussion with multiple examples at Oblivion_talk:Mages_Guild#Mages_Guild_Suspension. As is generally the case, a single player's experience does not provide conclusive evidence on what can occur under every possible circumstance. --NepheleTalk 21:13, 12 July 2008 (EDT)
I thieved from somebody twice from the Mages Guild before I was Arch-Mage. I did both first and second suspension quests. Now, I'm Arch-Mage, and I killed someone, which would be the third suspension. However, I didn't get a bounty, nor did I get a chance to redeem myself. Instead, when I walk into the Arch-Mage's Lobby, I'm teleported out, and my Mages Guild Key was removed. Any suggestions besides reloading a previous save? Koyo123 16:25, 5 August 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Stuck in the University

Under the Bugs section, it says you can get stuck in the University after being expelled and then lists ways to get out. I've found that I can get out with only three paintbrushes if I use the low wall that runs along the edge of the path near the main building, even with a rather low Acrobatics. [edit] Frenzy

if you cast frenzy on a mage member and they attack you, if you kill them in self defense, will you be suspended? Amantius Allectus 17:39, 11 August 2008 (EDT)

Nope. Frenzy away! --Xyntfos 17:50, 14 August 2008 (EDT)
