[edit] Ingredient maps
Is anyone interested in helping to create comprehensive maps of alchemy ingredients?
- I don't think making them by hand is such a good idea...(it's just that there's way too many ingredients to ever mark them by hand, it's a job for one single tallented modder to create a mod that will simply generate these maps automatically.)
- I'd rather be interested in complete Nirnroot locations map.
- FYI, these maps now exist on the individual ingredient pages. See Ingredients for a list of all the ingredients and links to their individual pages (and thanks for calling me a talented modder... not that I've ever created a mod :) ). Nirnroot maps can be found on Seeking Your Roots, and also every individual Nirnroot plant in the game is mapped on the Oblivion Online Map. --NepheleTalk 14:23, 15 April 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Web storage quotas
Can the people who link these maps please try to find web storage that has less (or no) limits on the transfer quotas? Not much point having a map up here if 95% of the time it's unavailable due to being over quota. Endareth 22:58, 11 April 2006 (EDT)
- If I get chance and remember I'll try uploading the files to the site in the near future. -- DaveH 00:37, 12 April 2006 (EDT)
call me a noob but im pretty sure i have some oblivion gates marked on my game map that are not on these maps. do the gates move with each game? i dont know if this is the right place to mention this if not please delete it or move it thanks zelldeb
- They get re-randomized each game. Besides gates that pop up always, there is a hundred or so of predefined gate locations from which about half (randomly chosen) appear, get randomized on game startup. The map is supposed to list all these possible locations so there's a good chance you won't find a gate at marked location but you shouldn't find unmapped gates. If you actually do, please contact map author to have them placed. (likely preferably with screenshot with ingame map showing the new gate mark).
- I also have a feeling it's the same case with Nirnroot, except about 90% of possible nirnroot appears. I mean, there were some places where I was SURE I had picked Nirnroot in previous game and now as I play, it just wasn't there.
[edit] Maps Of Alyeid Ruins And Caves
I think it would be better if there were maps for caves and stuff so you can find things out easier and it could help you out on different quests like the statue collector mission where you have to find the crowns of the last alyid kings and bring them back to Umbacano. --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.145.131.252 (talk • contribs).
- There are. Check the page of any ruin, cave, or other location and they all have maps. See Places for the complete list of locations. --TheRealLurlock Talk 13:13, 15 April 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Roadmap
I've just posted an alpha version of a roadmap I've been making. I've always been irritated by the fact that the game maps show only major routes; this is my first shot at filling in some of the blanks.
Currently the only locations marked are settlements with more than one house. (That probably shouldn't include Drad's and Rugdumph's estates, actually, but I'll work it out as I go.) Petrushka 20:38, 12 May 2007 (EDT)
- The roadmap is now finished. I've posted an update which I've called "beta" as in "feature-complete"; caves, mines, and wayshrines remain unmarked, but I never intended to include them. I don't anticipate further additions/corrections but am open to suggestions. Petrushka 20:48, 8 September 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Map Marker Key/Legend needed.
Even though the quests etc have maps for them, there is no key explaining what the dots are markers represent. 60.234.223.209 18:03, 28 May 2007 (EDT)
- There's a new project getting underway, Oblivion Places Redesign Project, which will update all the place maps so that what is shown on the maps is more useful and will also add legends for all the maps. It may take a while to complete, though, because there are a lot of places to map and describe. --NepheleTalk 19:30, 28 May 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Strange ship
If you look very slightly to the northeast of the ayleid ruin of Belaburo near Anvil, there is a crashed pirateship. Should this be marked on the online map?--Willyhead 15:51, 13 June 2007 (EDT)
[edit] German Mod Map
since I don't know if it's of interest to the international Community, ill put the link back here for now: PlanetOblivion.de published a GoogleMap of German Plugin locations at the PO-Modmap. Elim Garak
- Since the PlanetOblivion.de map is only for third-party mods, it's not a link that belongs on the main article. --NepheleTalk 01:13, 15 February 2008 (EST)

- That's what I thought. There's another thing: I'm getting requests for an English edition of the plugin map, but i neither have manpower nor server capacity to do it. Is anyone here willing to start such a project? -- Garak 01:33, 16 February 2008 (EST)

- Most of our regular editors, especially the ones who've been involved with creating our maps, are already pretty busy (as far as I know). And especially with the map being specifically for mods, it's not something that would benefit UESP. You might get more interest at the CS Wiki ... but even there, I think most of the people are pretty busy with some major site reorganization. Or maybe at Oblivionmodwiki. Of course, anybody who stumbles across this note and is interested is free to get in touch with you. I'm just not sure how likely it is that it will happen. --NepheleTalk 14:41, 17 February 2008 (EST)

- Though one could argue about the benefit (I'd say though well writen lore is important, it were the mods that made the huge success of MW and OB), I agree that a plugin site will probably be the better target for such a map. The thought was simply that the UESP already has the GMap expertise. By the way: most of us people who keep fansites running are really busy - you know best it doesn't work with out a lot of work ;-) -- Garak 16:33, 19 February 2008 (EST)

- I'd be willing to add a mod location map but it would be seperate from the existing OB/SI maps. Really all I need is a list of the locations and names (preferrably english). Can be any format like a CSV or text file. -- Daveh 16:26, 17 February 2008 (EST)

- So you'd volunteer as the technical workhorse? Sounds great, but we'd need to motivate the modders to make coordinate lists - you get really dizzy after searching a bunch of mods you haven't created for map points of interest. I'll point the guys who suggested the english map to this discussion, maybe they can help... --Garak 16:33, 19 February 2008 (EST)

- Nod...I wasn't suggesting of doing the searching/inputting of locations myself. Once someone has the info, though, it is relatively easy to dump into the database format I need. -- Daveh 17:11, 19 February 2008 (EST)
