I can't equip the crown of nentalata. Has this happened to anyone else? - Bjcffnet 02:59, 21 May 2006 (EDT)
you have to drop it on the floor and pick it up again, same with the staff of nenalanta
[edit] Rewards questions
Reward: Left over gold from 1000 gold loan, and whatever looted or salvaged from fallen enemies.
Is it really necessary to include "and whatever looted or salvaged from fallen enemies"? Isn't that implied in any quest? Giamgiam 18:44, 2 July 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Claude
Is it possible for Claude to survive the Undead Attack? If so, is there any interesting dialogue from him?--Willyhead 11:44, 22 July 2007 (EDT)
I was at level 34 with Maric when I did this quest. It's rough, but more of a challenge to get him to survive. I healed him once during the fight, we both escaped the ruin, and walked back to Roxey Inn. Maric will say- I never suspected that Umbacanno was up to no good. Apparently he was as mad as he was rich. He will also, I believe, make some smart ass comment about having to find another employer. (This is dialogue that is simply overheard from him after you defeat Umbacanno.) To equip the crown of Nenelata, give it to Umbacanno, then kill and loot him after the fight with the undead. When I left the ruins, I dropped the crown from my inventory then picked it back up. It was at full power, with a weight factor of one, and equipable.
Its a pain in the ass but he can survive and just mentions how he didnt think Umbacanno was a king.
How do you get it so the crown of Lindai will be able to be repaired constantly? I want to get my armorer up.
- I appreciate the info, but can anyone note on the page exactly what he says please?--Willyhead 15:20, 21 August 2007 (EDT)
-
- I found it easy for him to survive, he just stood there without engaging in combat, and no enemies attacked him! One nether lich was just behind him but didn't attack. I'm sorry but I can't recall exactly what he said. Update: I've reloaded a previous save and managed to find out exactly what he said: "I never suspected Umbacano might be up to no good. Apparently he was as mad as he was rich!" He says this by clicking on the "Umbacano"-topic. [edit] Ending the Quest
I gave Umbacano the wrong crown and he died, it says to escape the ruins, so I did. It is still in my journal though, how do I end it?12.210.228.164 16:04, 25 July 2007 (EDT)
- Nevermind, it was finished.
[edit] Nenalata internal doors don't open
I'm unable to complete this quest as the internal doors won't open. I meet Umbacano out front and get him to wait while I go in and clean the place out. There's a gate with a pressure pad not far inside which does not open. There's no work aroud as far as I can see. Anyone else have this problem?
- If you mean the gate on your left immediately on your left as you enter the ruin (H on the map), it's not supposed to open - you have to go the long way around. --RpehTalk 10:35, 19 September 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Corrupting the game because of the Quest?
I tried to exploit the bug where you can get both crowns, however for some reason everytime i now try to load my file, the loading screen freezes. always at the exact same point. is there a reason for this? what can i do? i am not about to restart 300-some hours of gameplay.
-
- Not sure what exploit you meant. You can get both crowns just by giving Umbacano the real one and then killing him. The other crown will still be at Lindai. Try loading a previous save and see what happens. If you constantly rewrite 1 savegame for your whole game then i have no pity for you, thats just dumb.
[edit] Stealing the Crown of Nenalata
- "Break into Herminia's house, make your way up to her bedroom and you'll find the crown in an Ayleid cask. You can either pick the lock on the Ayleid cask (Hard) or pick the lock on her desk (Average) to obtain the key to the Ayleid cask."
In my experience the lock on the desk is leveled (which means a Hard lock for my character). Can anyone confirm ?
- This looks to be a yes/no answer. Looking at the Construction Set, the lock difficulty for the desk is 50, unlevelled, which is actually a bit harder than a normal Average lock (difficulty 40). Similarly, the lock on the cask is difficulty 70, unlevelled, which is a bit easier than a normal Hard lock (difficulty 80). I'm no expert, but I believe this means you'd have to use Open Hard Lock on both if you're doing it via a spell. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by RobinHood70 (talk • contribs).
[edit] Question
There is a script which turns Umbacano into a vampire and executes "SetActorFullName "King of Nenalata" on him. When he becomes the king, can you get Porphryic Hemophilia from him? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dagoth Ur, Mad God (talk • contribs).
- Concerning vampirism, as far as i know, no he doe not become a vampire at any point in the game. --Volanaro 07:29, 12 May 2008 (EDT)
- No he's right. When Umbacano transforms he gets all the vampire attributes added to him (disease, attributes, skills, spells) although he isn't added to the Vampire faction. I don't know if this means you can catch PH from him though. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 08:14, 12 May 2008 (EDT)
- I'm dtermined to start learning about the construction set at some point, mainly so that i can tweak the game to my preferences but also so that i can properly answer questions like this! --Volanaro 08:21, 12 May 2008 (EDT)
- He uses a Staff and Spells, so i don't know if he attacks you for it to be contracted. (unless he has something else i don't remember.) Lucky the Cat Guy 22:24, 6 August 2008 (EDT)

He does turn into a Vampire, cast a 100point charm spell on him then talk to him, you can see his fangs--VergilSparda 18:45, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Can someone explain?
More of a curiosity than a serious question, but how exactly would Umbacano expect to revitalize the Ayleid kingdom with no subordinates? If his plan all along was to become king, can we assume he was deranged and just wanted a throne, or that he planned to take over Tamriel with this power? Seems crazy to covet a kingdom with no people... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.134.75.234 (talk • contribs).
- Hard to gauge the motivations of the deranged, mainly because there are so many motives they could pursue. Perhaps there's a submerged racism movement within High Elf culture who wishes to see the return of Elven power over Cyrodiil. Maybe Umbacano thinks his actions will inspire a rebellion. Or perhaps he thought the power of the crown and throne would make him god-like. Sure, he's not going to return the Ayleid kingdoms to their former glory, but perhaps he believed a close approximation— a Mer-dominated Empire, would be good enough. —Dark Spark 11:51, 8 June 2008 (EDT)
- could it not be that he is merely insane? PS. cheers to whoever reploed so quickly to my question (the one at the bottom) (EDIT)
[edit] Herminia Cinna's book
Odd that Umbacano has a book by his rival, Herminia Cinna on the The Last king of the Ayleids in his attic. 203.91.84.7 10:25, 31 May 2008 (EDT)
- Not that odd, if you want to know how your any of your opponents work and think. —Dark Spark 11:51, 8 June 2008 (EDT)
It may also be because it says Nenalata is the resting place of the Last King of the Ayleids at the end of the book. --M'aiq the Liar Talk 00:29, 18 September 2008 (EDT)
[edit] No Cask
Hi. This is only slightly related to the quest but it is bugging me to no end. I would also like to say that you can pickpocket the key for the desk off Herminia Cinna and get the key for the cask from there. If you haven't started the quest yet does it stop the Ayleid cask being in her room. I haven't started it yet and was able to pickpocket the desk key off her. Because I am a theif I openned the desk (which the key turns out to open) and found the 'Ayleid Cask Key' yet no matter how hard I try the cask itself is nowhere to be found in her room?!? Is it really not there unless you start the quest or am I just too stupid to find it? Someone please clear this up for me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.110.77.119 (talk • contribs) on 27 May 2009.
- Nope, the cask won't appear until stage 10 of the quest (see Oblivion:Secrets of the Ayleids#Notes), even if you possess the key to it. --SerCenKing Talk 15:46, 27 May 2009 (EDT)
[edit] Undead Can't Detect
It says that the undead can detect you even if you are invisible or chamaeleon but I used an invisible spell and They CANT detect me.Should this be happening? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.69.189.53 (talk • contribs) on 4 July 2009.
- That information seems to be incorrect. I just tried using 100% chameleon and was definitely not detected. The liches summoned their skeletons but then they all stood around doing nothing, even when attacked. I think whoever added that information may have been fooled by the summon spells. I've deleted that line from the article. –rpeh•T•C•E• 18:36, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] King of Nelenta
Does anyone have a picture of him? does he look different that umbicanno? could someone get a picture of him? thanks!--Arch-Mage Matt 16:57, 14 August 2009 (UTC) (sorry for the spelling)
- He looks exactly the same as Umbacano, only he is wearing the Ayleid crown of Nenalata, if you've done the quest then you'll see him.--VergilSparda 18:45, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- You dont have to kill him by the way, using a 100point charm spell then drain personality spells i managed to rase his dispostion to 100. He no longer attacks you when you enter the throne room, this is Great for Roleplaying, you can also carry on with the quest The Collector.--VergilSparda 13:54, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
