[edit] Armor Skills

Look. Unless I'm very much mistaken, many of you are wrong about how heavy and light armor skills level up. If you look at the pages for them, you'll see that it says skill increases occur for each hit to the body, not for each point of damage dealt.

Notwithstanding the fact that I've leveled my light armor skill several ranks by sparring with him. Yeah, yeah, I could be lying, blah blah blah. You know... I could be wrong, too. But try it yourself first.

I've fought with him for hours (in-game), but he really wont make your armor skills go up.09:51, 14 December 2007 (EST)lordDagon

[edit] Block Training

He offers training in Block between 12 noon and 2 pm, however the popup window says Trainer Level "novice". I think it needs further investigation as to what that means. What levels does he train to? Vlad the Imperial 16:07, 16 October 2007 (EDT)

The construction set says he trains up to level 0. I think he may be similar to Trayvond. You may see Treyvond's page for more info. --Mankar Camoran 16:19, 16 October 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Sparring ends when...

The player's health drops too low? I don't think Shagrol deals damage, ever. I guess you could poison yourself, but that has nothing to do with the sparring. IWon'tFightUndead 02:11, 16 October 2007 (EDT)

Have you tried yielding? Just tested it myself, yielding to Shagrol does end the sparring session. 72.28.170.64 23:01, 16 October 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Increasing Weapons Skills

I understand that he cannot increase your armour skills - because he doesn't actually do you any damage. But does hitting him with swords, axes and arrows improve your respective Blade, Blunt and Marksman skills accordingly? In other words, is he more than just useful Block trainer?

Yes, beating him up does increase your skills. You do damage to him until he's knocked unconscious, at which point the sparring match is over. Honestly, the idea of beating this guy senseless and then waiting for him to get up so you can do it again is really pretty amusing. =D IWon'tFightUndead 16:09, 17 October 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Strange glitch

I fought with him for several hours (in-game), constantly giving him weakness to poison 25%. When i was finally satisfied (i wanted to train my destruction skill) i 'killed' him. ( ofcourse, he was only knocked unconscious). When he got up again, he didn't have any sholders anymore. No, this isn't a joke. His 'shoulders' where hanging about halfway his arms, and those arms where hanging to his body with only a bit of skin. I'm playing on the xbox, so showing a screenshot of him is impossible. Has anyone had this glitch before? Any ideas, solutions are welcome.LordDagon 10:02, 14 December 2007 (EST) UPDATE: saving and reloading in another cell solves the problem.LordDagon 10:38, 15 December 2007 (EST)

[edit] The End of Friendly Sparring

I used the Akaviri Sunderblade while sparring with Shagrol, as well as some custom Destruction spells that disintegrate weapons. Rather quickly his weapon was useless and he began equipping and unequipping it over and over. Finally, he ran off to grab an actual weapon that could hurt dear old me. We continued to spar, but he was actually doing damage. After I yielded, I discovered that his disposition has lowered. Nothing a tiny bit of gold wouldn't get back up to 100, but it seems that this is another way to end the match. I didn't incur a bounty, but it was as if we were actually fighting.

I can't think of a way to blend this with the main article, it probably doesn't belong there. However, it was pretty interesting. I'm lucky Athon wasn't there, though I wonder if he would have defended me or attacked me. xoxo Coryl

Athon wouldn't have interfered. He'l just stand there, wathing the sparring.--LordDagon 09:34, 2 April 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Un-Friendly fighting

Apparently you can assault Shagrol at any time to start a fight. No bounty will occur, and he'll keep fighting until you knock him unconscious(or yield to him, I would assume). His disposition will, of course, be lowered by this, but you won't get a bounty from this. As long as he has a weapon equipped he won't hurt you (i.e., right after you finish sparring, or when he is "attacking" one of the dummies.) if he doesn't have a weapon equipped he will beat at you with his fists, which do hurt. He will still spar with you no matter how many times you attack him.

Could this be added to the main page as a note? LittleElfGirl 02:34, 15 September 2008 (EDT)

Sure. It could do with a little check to make sure it's always true but then there's no reason why you can't add it. –RpehTCE 03:31, 15 September 2008 (EDT)
