Yes, it's fairly easy to talk him into giving up the book (and you get to call him a fool, something always appreciated). On the province information bit, that's interesting - I guess the bookstore owner mentions it, doesn't he? --Edwin Herdman 04:30, 13 March 2007 (EDT)

Quite the opposite, in fact: Gwinas is in reality an innocent, but he appears very guilty. The man is in contact with the Mythic Dawn, the note from the Sponsor proves this. Furthermore, he's trying to join the cult. Only by fortuitous (and a little contrived) circumstance do you find out he's horrified by the fact the Mythic Dawn killed Uriel Septim and suddenly decides to betray the cult he had worked so hard to sign up with (a little out of character, too). If Gwinas was of a more devious disposition (and you'd the Mythic Dawn catered to that sort) he could have easily betrayed you to Raven Camoran and the gang after you spoke with him. In any case, a player without the benefit of forseight might conclude stealing or killing this potential Mythic Dawn initiate to be a rational option.

Recently re-starting the game with the 1.511 patch I had the main quest bug up on me in Luther Broad's - after killing the Mythic Dawn agent, Baurus asked me to search the body, I did, taking the book, but at the point where two dialogue options appeared he didn't then move on to the step of asking me to visit the Arcane University to find out about the Mythic Dawn's books. I knew to go there anyhow, but could not access critical dialogue in order to get the quests for books 3 and 4 to show. --Edwin Herdman 04:28, 13 March 2007 (EDT)

I've encountered a problem similar to that. When Baurus and the agent first went into the basement, neither did anything, just sat there. If I left and came back in they started thrir fight. While I could talk to Baurus none of his facial animations worked and when we arrived at the sewers he did the same thing. He just sits there and never starts moving so we can get on with the quest. Is there a way to just mark the quest completed and get around it, or a way to fix it?

This just happened to me, on my first time playing. I tried using the kill console command, and he fell down then stood up and would have facial animations, but didn't walk anywhere. By pushing him to a door, he would walk through it. By walking away for a few areas, I would get the message that he was knocked out and upon return he would freeze again. However, I'm at a loss for how I'm supposed to continue the game. --66.41.201.119 20:40, 30 July 2007 (EDT)

Exiting the game and reloading after pushing him out of the building has made him start moving, this could be a possible fix every time. However once he enters a new area, I get the message that he was knocked out again and when I enter sure enough he's frozen. Saving and reloading makes him move, but I'm unsure how this will affect parts of the game where I don't follow him. --66.41.201.119 20:49, 30 July 2007 (EDT)

If you piss someone off to the point where they want to kill you, yes, you'll have a problem. It's not a bug, though, just a bad decision about how to play the game. Especially since Baurus dying at that point does not mess up the quest. --Nephele^Talk 03:54, 13 November 2007 (EST)

If you get rid of the first 3 Mysterium Xarxes you can't finish the quest. I had to find that out the hard way. Also they are not quest items but still don't drop them.^{—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.202.36.50 (talk • contribs).}

Sorry, but that's really not true. The moment you obtain one of the volumes, the quest updates and you no longer need the book. Tar-Meena may prompt you about the books towards the end of the quest, but you don't need to even talk to Tar-Meena to finish the quest at that point; you definitely do not need the books. So please check your facts before giving other players incorrect advice. --Nephele^Talk 03:54, 13 November 2007 (EST)

If you dawdle before reporting to Baurus after procuring Volume 3, he may come and find you instead, and his range extends even outside the Imperial City. This can prove annoying, as you will be forced to travel with Baurus manually the entire way back to the Sewers. Using fast travel to expedite the journey will not work, as Baurus does not follow you (rather vice-versa). [Edit: This is not always true. I fast-traveled to the City and found Baurus waiting for me just inside the sewers] Baurus also has no horse and does not run. He does, however, automatically attack bandits and other hostiles.

On my higher leveled assassin character I was quite unhappy (to put it mildly) when I found Baurus waiting for me in freakin' Leyawiin. You may need to be able to run fast, but I found that if I attacked Baurus and provoked a fight, he would run after me the whole way to the Imperial City, at which point I just yielded to him.

I had the same problem. After looking for a fix, I found out that you can get items with the (~) command with the PC version. So to fix this bug, I did "player.additem 00022B05 1" I also needed to add the remaining 2 books to be able to continue the quest. The number for book #3 is 00022B06 and for book #4 is 00022B07.

I asked Baurus to meet Raven and as soon as they started talking, I pickpocketed the "Mythic Dawn Commentaries Vol.4" from Raven at which point a quest update got triggered and everyone just started walking away as if nothing happened. Yup I can confirm it. This seems to trigger the next part of the quest without having to fight the cultists, not even Raven. This also makes sure Baurus survives. --Sundaroct131088 11:14, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Tomb of Prince Camarril

I ecountered a bug that enables me from activating the Tomb of Prince Camarril. I spoke with Tar-Meena, went to the Palce district waited for the sun to reach the tip of the tower, and NOTHING. The tomb never starts glowing. I have tried repeatedly and nothing works. Also Tar-Meena has disappeared from the Arcane University so I can't follow her. Does anyone have any suggestions? Sounds like a glitch. If you're playing on the PC you'll be able to continue the quest by typing in a console code. If you're playing on the 360 or PS3 then make sure that you're there at around noon and after the sun reaches the tip of the tower wait for a while to see if anything happens. If nothing happens after a few minutes then there is a glitch, and loading a previous save may fix it.--Willyhead 12:42, 14 January 2008 (EST)

The only other thing I can think of is that it wasn't sunny enough. If the sky is overcast it won't trigger the update. I spent a frustrating couple of days (in game) trying to get the update once. –Rpeh^{•T•C•E•} 14:21, 14 January 2008 (EST)

• Finally, you can wait until you are in the sewers looking for the fourth book to find volume three of the book. It is laying on a table in the room where the Mythic Dawn cultists who walk along the upper ridge come out. It is sitting next to a few gold and some lockpicks.

I originally marked this as requiring verification, but as nothing has been forthcoming and I'm unable to confirm it myself, I'm moving this to here in case anybody else can manage to do so. I simply don't believe you can get the update to find Vol 4 until you have already obtained Vol 3. –Rpeh^{•T•C•E•} 13:47, 16 March 2008 (EDT)
