Help

(moved from Lore talk:Mythic Dawn Commentaries#Help)

I sold the the 3rd and 4th books for the quest The path of dawn! How can I get them back?

E-mail me at ben_-913@hotmail.com — Unsigned comment by 99.236.57.89 (talk) on 14 April 2010

No. If you ask on a wiki, have the common decency to check back instead of expecting people to email you.
If you sold them, you should be able to buy them back again if you go back to the vendor quickly - before their inventory respawns. Otherwise, you're out of luck. rpeh •TCE 16:26, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
(E/C) Otherwise; as detailed on its page, you can get further copies of Book 3 in the Sunken Sewers and in the Lake Arrius Caverns. Alas, the only copy of Book 4 is the one acquire during The Path of Dawn. --SerCenKing Talk 16:29, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Letting Guards take Care?

Moved from main page: "i have also found a way of getting the fourth edition book without dying although brausus may die in some versions depending on how the events unfold. firstly make sure that brasus is the one entering the rrom for the metting, then go in after him and wait in the shadows once the sponsor has entered rush in and pickpocket any items you want. straight away unequip everything you are wearing and weapons also use potions of speed if available, and escape through the door keep checking your zoomed in map of the area so not to get caught and head out once out of the sewers do not stop running if you can run past as many inperial gaurds as possible you will see them running towards you do not be alarmed they are helping and will kill the other assasins attacking you in some versions barus lives pr he may die but he is not key past this part of the game anyway." by anon- 94.7.49.55

I removed the contribution because of the use of "I", poorly written, and the question of usefulness; however, it brings up a point of whether guards could potentially help get the 4th book. It seems unlikely, as the chances of getting out fast enough and the chance Baurus dies are high. -- Jplatinum16 21:38, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

I see it as too convoluted to really be useful, even if it might work. Robin HoodTalk 02:28, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Getting stuck on the chairs.

I've been having a problem in this quest, I've had a glitch that when I try to sit down on the chairs (both in the inn, and in the sewers) that I just stand beside them and are unable to move or attack. is their any way to fix this? it let me move again when Baurus when down stairs in the end, but I can not fight back in the sewers if I choose to meet the Sponsor myself (I'm on the PS3 game of the year verso if that helps any too) 64.42.205.241 20:57, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

If you have the Knights of the Nine addon, and have fought Umaril, there is a chance that a glitch may occur that will cause you to be unable to sit. — Unsigned comment by Tenraah (talkcontribs) on July 16, 2010

Mythic Dawn Guard with the torch has nice loot.

Is it worth noting on the article that the imperial Mythic Dawn Guard with the torch always has a random leveled necklace or ring? I just reloaded my save outside this room and replayed this part about 30 times so I could get the Necklace of Swords I wanted. --Tenraah 06:09, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Baurus is stuck in Cloud ruler temple (Moved)

um i beat the game by going thru the roof of that temple and now i need to go thru the main questline again. but when baurus tells me to follow him to the sewer he just walked directly to cloud ruler temple and wont leave — Unsigned comment by 71.68.16.86 (talk) on July 20 2010

You can't finish it then, if you cheated to finish it a first time. --Arch-Mage MattTalk 18:38, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Tar-meena will not tell me any thing on the mythic dawn cults.

when i started the game i went on and did the main quest first but after a little bit i went off and started dark brother hood, and thieves guild quests. i then went to talk to Baurus and helped him kill the mythic dawn member, i got the book and talked to Baurus again. he told me to go talk to ter-meena, however when i go to talk to her she has nothing to tell me except they follow mankar cameron and no one knows where they are. i then decided to go and complete all the mages guild recommendation quests to see if i could talk to her in the archives, however she still tells me nothing new. i went to jearl's house in bruma and stole the commentaries 1 and 2, went back to talk to tar-meena and still nothing new...what do i do now??

Baurus stuck behind barrels fix

Don't know if this works on any other version, but on the 360 version, after getting stuck behind the barrels next to the stairway in the sewers, Baurus resets himself if you go ahead into the meeting room. The Mythic Dawn sponsor won't be in there since you haven't tripped the quest trigger (i.e., talking to Baurus outside of the door) but when you come back out, Baurus will appear and start the quest advancement conversation.

A problem with Baurus.

I'm playing the 360 version, and I have a problem in this quest. Whenever I stand in the same cell in which Baurus is, the game starts to slow down very much, making gameplay almost imposible. Any help?

--2.136.156.154 19:06, 10 April 2011 (UTC) I also have this problem, i tried pick pocketing him and it said he has 6000 Oghma Infinium so I tryed taking them and now I am stuck lagging and im not sure if there is anything i can do about it

Can anyone else confirm the Baurus using fathis ules house?

I unlocked everything, even double checked, knowing that Baurus would come find me. He met me IN the basement, then turned around and proceeded to go the normal way. Any ideas?--Catmaniac66 15:08, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

UPDATE- I literally had Baurus meet me in front of the door to the meeting, via fathis ules house, and he still started to walk backwards through the sewer.--Catmaniac66 15:12, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
Once more- The problem appears that Baurus is supposed to open the first gate. There isnt a switch on the side he was coming from (the opposite side as normal since I got him to follow me through Fathis Ules' house. Can anyone test to see if this method would work unlocking both of the doors in his house AND opening the gate in the Elven Gardens Sewers?--Catmaniac66 15:29, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Help please.

Its been a while since ive played and i just tried to pick back up on the path of dawn quest line. My log says i now have volume 3 of the four books i need, but i should find out why the bookseller had it. However the 3rd volume is not in my inventory, i cannot find gwan anywhere, and the only speech option the book keeper gives me is rumors, city, and something about how he has never seen the 4th volume. If i sold the book a while ago i have no memory of doing so. Idk what to do. Solutions? Suggestions? Thanks — Unsigned comment by 76.14.120.231 (talk) at 12:39 on April 30, 2011

Looking in the Construction Set, there are very few places where you can find this book. Two in Lake Arrius Caverns, of course you can't get those yet. One in the Sewers. I believe that this is in the part that Baurus must open or something. And then in a test area that you can't reach without console anyway. If you can;t find wherever it went and you have already gotten it for sure, then it would be pretty much impossible to find again. :( --DKong27 Talk Cont 22:27, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback :)

Beating the game

i bet the game. and i accomplished it without bauros dieing . how ever i can find him anywhere? does anybody know where he is? :) — Unsigned comment by 46.7.79.165 (talk) at 21:35 on 26 May 2011

Try Cloud Ruler Temple. He might also be permanently stuck inside the ruined Temple of the One, which you cannot access again without using console commands on the PC. Legoless 20:40, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Supposed bug with Baurus doing the talking

"*If you follow through with Baurus's suggestion and let him do the talking, Raven Camoran will not be set hostile towards the player at the end of the conversation (he is only turned hostile towards the one sitting at the table, in this case, Baurus). This can have weird consequences if he kills Baurus. If you talk to Raven, he will tell you to sit at the table. If you sit down and talk to him, he will engage in generic NPC conversation, but won't have any topics. If you are a vampire, he will say the usual "Stay away from me" greeting. Please see the Talk Page for technical details and a fix."

Unable to recreate this. Staying completely hidden until Baurus is dead, Raven is immediately hostile and attacks as soon as he sees the player. (This is without the UOP active of course.) Tried it twice to make sure. Kivan 23:33, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

I've removed that bug. I hadn't noticed it before and I've never had the problem it describes either. rpeh •TCE 08:17, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. :^) Also forgot to mention (although it's rather obvious): "Please see the Talk Page for technical details and a fix." ... there wasn't one here at all. Guess it got pulled earlier too or never existed. Kivan 13:49, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Image nitpicking by editors

Since two editors decide they want to nitpick, I will bring it up here. The purpose of {{multiple images}} is to keep related images in a single box. This is not the time for petty gripes about image sizing. The only time when that argument is valid is when you are defining images sizes for all of the images on a page. Since the wiki defaults to 200px, so does the template.

(Now, I don't really want to comment on the audacity of Krusty to make the change on the page under a false edit summary.) elliot (talk) 02:45, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

Please don't describe other editors' changes as "nitpicking". Accept that other people don't share your opinions and argue on the merits of your solution. rpeh •TCE 08:40, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
I already did argue for my choice, yet you have failed to do anything of the sort. Please don't sit here and suggest that since you made that edit that it is the superior one. And yes, it is nitpicking. elliot (talk) 17:39, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
The default resolution is 180px, not 200px. Flexible resolutions, in my opinion, are more important than having images in the same box. --Legoless 17:49, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
Exactly. I always remove hard-coded image sizes when I see them unless there's a very good reason for them. In this case, there's no such reason so I'd prefer to use the normal thumbnail code. That's not nitpicking at all. rpeh •TCE 18:03, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

() This entire discussion proves as to why wikis don't work when you have blind followers of a vastly overconfident editor, spewing forth the same garbage. elliot (talk) 22:15, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure why your launching personal attacks at someone, and agreeing with a more experienced editor's point of view has nothing to do with blindly following. Don't derail the discussion by making meaningless jibes and choosing sides. --Legoless 22:32, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
(edit conflict) While I don't support his attitude, I agree that Elliot's version is the better one. The gap between the images is quite annoying as it forces the second image into the notes. I believe the problem with Elliot's version is the image sizes? Can't we just edit the template so it defaults to 180px like thumb images? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 22:36, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
I agree that the single box is more visually appealing, but fixing the resolution at all is the problem. See this recent discussion. The problem is that the default thumbnail size can be adjusted by the user, although I think that that particular discussion was concerning much larger images than 200px. --Legoless 22:41, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
I see the problem. Would it be possible to add a new preference option for multiple images in a single box, or even better have them default to your image thumb preference? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 22:48, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
The trouble is that when you use the "thumb" option, each image gets its own border. There might be a way of hacking things using CSS, but that'd need extra research. rpeh •TCE 08:32, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

() The only way to really do that, AKB, without going insane, is by using the CSS per page extension. I am not sure it is worth the trouble that it may invoke. elliot (talk) 01:47, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

If the desired effect is simply to get rid of the gap between the two thumbnails, then hopefully I've now taken care of that with this bit of new css (use ctrl+F5 for the change to take effect).
On the other hand, I doubt there's any easy way to make the multiple images template recognize user size preferences -- confirmed by multiple posts at wikipedia (here, here, and here). And given that limitation of the template, I think we should avoid using it. Small tweaks in image spacing seem like a pretty minor priority compared to respecting user's preferred image sizes. --NepheleTalk 02:24, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
That looks pretty good. While a (extremely tiny, practically unnoticeable) gap remains, it seems that this is the best result we can get. Unless we're to find a way to get this template to conform to the thumb size preference without each image requiring it's own border, I think this is the best possible solution. If a way was found to make the multiple images template to follow user's preferences was found, I'm sure we'd all support changing it back. Until a way is found, I think this is a decent alternative. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 02:43, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
The gap can be completely eliminated -- but there will still be a horizontal line. In fact, I just tweaked the css to demonstrate that option. One problem that I noticed, though, is that it was also affecting horizontally-aligned images such as on Ald Redaynia. I've changed things around now to fix the horizontally-aligned images -- but it's a bit of a kludge, because it relies on always using thumb|left in cases such as Ald Redaynia, and always using thumb|right in cases such as The Path of Dawn. --NepheleTalk 02:58, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
That looks great - thanks, Nephele! rpeh •TCE 05:49, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

() Am I the only one who has noticed some issues with the new CSS? Or is it the temporary fix you were talking about Nephele? elliot (talk) 11:31, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

I don't get that with Chrome 15.0.874.106 rpeh •TCE 11:39, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
Use Ctrl+F5 (or whatever the equivalent is in Chrome) to refresh the CSS. That's what the page looked like before my second edit to common.css, but it shouldn't happen with the final version of the file. --NepheleTalk 14:24, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, it fixed it. I did that but I seriously had to do it seven times. I'll just blame my crappy laptop. elliot (talk) 18:45, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
