By "he will disappear from Anvil forever," is it meant that he disappears from Anvil or from the game entirely? (I did some poking about in the CS, and I could not find anything specifically deactivating him.)Jadrax 08:40, 23 January 2007 (EST)

Actually, during the Umaril quest, the CS does execute the command "NDProphetREF.disable", suggesting that the prophet really does just disappear. --Nephele 11:30, 23 January 2007 (EST)
Mmm, I should probably try not to poke about in offical mods before my second cuo of tea of the morning in future then... Jadrax 19:03, 23 January 2007 (EST)
It's not the easiest script to find, since it's buried in the commands executed at stage 50 of the quest rather than in a script related to the Prophet (and it's not even a particularly obvious quest stage). I've taken to just searching through the raw esm/esp files instead of using the CS to find random little commands like that. --Nephele 00:33, 24 January 2007 (EST)

[edit] Talos?

On the face of it, the game seems to treat the Blessing of Talos as a regular spell, aside from it being categorized as a script effect, and the fact that he simply bestows it upon you during his conference with you (seems unique as well - compare to Mages Guild members that teach you spells at the end of their orders), and it seems this is the point when your fatigue curse is finally removed. That's...well, not very normal at all! I would guess that he is an avatar of Talos, and I think he looks a bit like Uriel VII. Anyhow, what is relevant here is that I'm adding the Blessing of Talos entry to the page. These other ideas are interesting, but I'll wait to see if anybody else has any more information before we add it in. --Edwin Herdman 06:50, 14 March 2007 (EDT)

[edit] A Little Theory

I think The Prophet is Tiber Septim. An ancient Ayleid king is released from the Waters of Oblivion and seeks vengeance upon the Nine. He destroys a church and kills all the priestesses, and a crazy old man (Talos) comes down from Aetherius . He calls out for a champion to destroy Umaril for all eternity. After a couple relic gathering missions. The Lord Crusader meets with the Prophet, and he bestows upon him the Blessing of Talos. Who else could do that besides Talos himself? As for the disappearence, after the Lord Crusader strikes Umaril down, Talos' (aka The Prophet's) work is finished and he has no more reasons to remain on the mortal plane, and thus returns to Aetherius.

Comments?

I agree. It even seems to have a resemblance to Children of Dune as well. But aside from the fact that the appearance is in indication, the whole 8+1 thing would seem a little blasphemous if were not coming from Talos himself.72.196.196.61 06:47, 4 January 2008 (EST)
I agree. He gave us the blessing of talos (tiber septim) and who else can do that other then talos or a great servant who must like almost all of his life serving him.
Me too. In fact I think it's pretty obvious that the designers intended the play to draw this connection, they just weren't completely explicit about it. Personally I think this theory is solid enough that it can be added to the main page.
I thought of this, too. He does resemble the Septims (Uriel and Martin) to a certain degree, I think, and he gives you the blessing of Talos like it's nothing. Plus, didn't people say he just came out of nowhere? And then he disappears again? 68.37.212.149 18:47, 20 May 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Source?

Originally The Prophet and Umaril were to be one and the same. The Prophet was to mysterious disappear from the chapel only to meet you at Garlas Malatar and then become Umaril, however this was thought to be too much like the Shivering Isle quest line so this idea was dropped. This does however explain the reason why the Prophet is no longer found in the game after the Knights Of The Nine questline is complete.

I've moved the previous note from the article pending some sort of verification or source for the information. Although it's interesting if true, right now it's hard to tell whether it's anything more than pure speculation. --NepheleTalk 01:44, 17 December 2007 (EST)
