[edit] Comment moved from article

This comment I have moved as I couldn't make useful sense of it while maintaining the appropriate style, but it might contain redeemable content. Editors are welcome to rephrase this into a useful "thing to do when you're bored" and replace it in the article. --Actreal 07:16, 29 September 2006 (EDT)

All things deadly and Nasty
Going on a huge duengeon clear-out and collecting all the great loot to fund the clear-outs quite fun once at higher levels and after cleaning out the deungeon and traps move the bodies to make a pile or put them in stupid poses like in Bruma i have a guard in his Off-duty clothes on the stairs as the cross of jesus theres also i nice little glith that some people in Buma what murdered you get a bounty of a assult.

Errr, dungeon clear-outs are a feature this game is focused around. Bodies fade after 4-5 days. this really isn't a fun thing to do when you're bored

[edit] Move Roleplaying Section

I think that the roleplaying section takes up too much space and deserves its own section. Just my thought

I agree. Roleplaying deserves its own section and definately isnt' something relegated for "when you are bored."

I also agree. Pappasmurf 17:37, 8 February 2007 (EST)

I also agree, I found out about the RP section by accident, and many people have noticed it yet. We need more people to add there ideas, so it must be more visible. Doesnt sound like anyone would object really. The Role-play has alot of importance to Oblivion. - Fireresistance vs Flaming.

Done! Oblivion:Roleplaying Now we just need to fix up this page a bit. :) Pappasmurf 19:09, 15 February 2007 (EST)

I don't think anything links to this page. 67.142.130.49 20:40, 2 March 2007 (EST)

I fixed that problem. I put a link back on the main page as I could'nt find anywhere else to put it. Pappasmurf 18:55, 3 March 2007 (EST)

[edit] Comments moved from article

I moved the following two commonts from the article:

You can allso be sailor. (From Jobs for Anvil)
You can allso smuggle skooma, ale, weapons and other stuff to your inmates and get the payment through console. (From Things to Do in Jail)

I don't understand how either one is supposed to work. The first one would require a boat that one could sail, which do not exist (without mods). The second would require inmates, and very few exist (most who do are quest NPCs).

If someone makes more sense of them, they can be moved back. --Dylnuge(talk · edits) 14:28, 23 January 2007 (EST)

made some sense of the sailor one, not sure if its good. Irishguy42 13:04, 24 January 2007 (EST)

Well Iríshguy your is atleast better than mine ^_^ I should maybe have written what I meant by being sailor. But thanks for improving it. - Fireresistance vs Flaming.

I was thinking...maybe for the Arch-mage role-playing, maybe someone could work in the Frostcraig Spire plug-in? Irishguy42 10:24, 28 January 2007 (EST)

I think this would fit better into the role-playing section as a new header; Smuggler ---Western3589 4:27, 3 November 2007 (EST)

[edit] Suggested Limits

I would like to propose that this page at least be limited to actions that can be done without using the console. A large number of readers do not have access to the console; the console is considered to be cheating by many people; and, there are almost countless possibilities for actions once you start adding in console commands. Does anyone have any counter-arguments, or objections to deleting all references to the console (and thus all activities that are only possible using the console) from this page? --Nephele 15:50, 27 January 2007 (EST)

Me. While I agree with you, it limits incredibly what you can do and what you can do lawfully when you don't use the console. Sure, a lot of 360 users read this page, but that doesn't justify yanking away all ideas for PC users. 68.82.237.175 20:45, 27 January 2007 (EST)

I agree with 68.82.237.175 on this one. I personally use the 360 and don't care if there are console commands scattered throughout the wiki. (also my complements to whoever made this page : ) ) Pappasmurf 16:48, 8 February 2007 (EST)

To add something like: "You can allso use console to recieve your payment" works fine imo. As long as there is an option for the 360 users.

I'd support getting rid of the items that require the console, though leave the ones which are easier if the console is used, but are still possible without it. I'd also suggest removing (or, at least, flagging) the ones that rely on the duping glitch, as that got removed in the 1.2 patch.DisplacedAvenger 11:22, 17 May 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Deletion of Tomacco Entry

There was an entry about a potion recipe using the ingredients of Tomato and Tobacco that linked to a Wikipedia article, Tomacco. The entry was deleted with the comment "mixing together a tomato and tobacco doesn't have anything to do with the simpsons". If the person responsible for that deletion had bothered to read the article linked to, they would have known that saying that mixing tomato and tobacco has nothing to do with The Simpsons, is about as incorrect as saying that Cromulent has nothing to do with The Simpsons.

If it had been deleted because it has little to do with Oblivion, that would be understandable, since there's never been a confirmation by the developers that making the ingredients Tomato and Tobacco valid for combination into a legitimate in-game potion was a deliberate homage to the 11th Season Simpsons Episode in question, and not just a coincidence. Even with the question of whether or not this is a deliberate easter egg or just a coincidence, making potions based off of obscure pop-culture references certainly falls in the category of "Things to do in Oblivion when you're bored," but it's not worth getting into a revert war about.

Still, it's worth noting that if you're going to put a reason for an edit, it pays to actually check available resources (the Wikipedia link to Tomacco was right there in the entry that was deleted) to see if your reason bears any resemblance to reality, because if it doesn't, you may just get called out for it.

[edit] Repetition

Removed Urban Sprinting because it is just like Hit n Run.12.210.228.164 22:33, 15 July 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Cleaning up - Another Attempt

I've posted a section over at the Community Portal on one possible idea for cleanup up this page. Please take a look and let me have your feedback or ideas. Apologies for spamming this around but I felt it should appear on the talk pages of all the articles I mentioned in the post. --RpehTalk 06:30, 19 July 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Hill Arrows

(moved from main article - does anybody know what this is actually trying to say?) --RpehTalk 05:38, 25 July 2007 (EDT)

Go to Bruma front of chapel. You know there is a little hill which goes down chapel to Olav's Tap and Tack. When you kill Burd he becomes unconsicicious. If you shoot him with arrow while you stand middle of hill and he tries to attack you he slides!

Hmmm, it seems it is saying that if you get Burd knocked-out while he is running towards you, He flies forward, like most essential characters. --Voyevode 03:17, 28 July 2007 (EDT)

Ill try to re-phrase that so it makes a little sense:

Go in front of the Bruma chapel. Then there is a hill that leads to Olav's tap and tack, Knock Burd unconscious. If you shoot him with an arrow while you stand in the middle of the hill while he tries to attack you he slides!

It was written horribly and doesn't make much sense not really something to do, it justs hows how important characters fly towards you when you knock them unconscious.

[edit] Do we Really Need This?

Do we really need the Drunkard part? I think it's pretty stupid, and doesn't deserve to be placed here, or anywhere on the site. Anyone agree? --Playjex 18:08, 1 February 2008 (EST)

Agreed. Its really stupid and I wouldn't do it if I was bored. --Matthewest 18:16, 1 February 2008 (EST)
REALLY bored. If you really wanted to do it, you could just spawn a dead body and a bunch of drugs from the console. --69.19.254.196 23:42, 1 February 2008 (EST)

[edit] Question about "Rising Crime"

(Question moved here from talk page for deleted copy of this article)

Does this also work on Shadowmere? I read it can be useful in the Defense of Bruma because it is essential, but does it also fight back? And can you place a bounty on a horse? I think it would be fun to watch a couple dozen imperial watchmen getting killed by a simple horse! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.86.174.110 (talkcontribs).

[edit] Bricks

When they mention the construction with bricks, they talk about the ruin Vilverin. I did not find a single brick in the whole ruin. I spent an hour with light spells, and searching every little corner for one brick. I couldn't find one. Is there another location I could find stone bricks? I really want to build a house.--Imperial Scum 00:36, 16 March 2008 (EDT)

There are 9 bricks in Vilverin, which is why people focus on that particular ruin. They're at the bottom of a set of stairs leading to the room with the collapsed food store in it. There are also 6 bricks embedded in the ground at the end of the wall just east of Modryn Oreyn's House in Chorrol (some of these are not visible but can be picked up anyway) and 7 in the gap in the wall just outside his back door. That should be enough to be going on with! –RpehTCE 05:52, 16 March 2008 (EDT)

OK thanks. I found them this time. I don't see how i missed them. I also found a stone brick in the taxnominist's (I think that's spelled right) room at Battlehorn Castle. You can't dupe it though.--Imperial Scum 22:04, 20 March 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Cyrodiil's Most Wanted

Interestingly enough, whenever a character is in jail for more than 512 days, all of the alive/dead variables for NPCs seem to reset. This bug/glitch/feature works every time I try it, however, I do not know if it occurs on the XBOX or PS3. --Aranai 13:09, 16 March 2008 (EDT)

Single question. How do you stay in jail for that long?

[edit] Watching A Fight

I'll put this here, as to be perfectly honest I'm rubbish at editing pages. Anyway, I was thinking it could be possible that you could stage public fights using the console - you could place two NPCs in an area that does not let anyone in or out exept you (by jumping, probably), and then use the console to make them start combat. This could be boxing (using the console command to remove all items would be used) or with weapons (again, the console could be used) For an area to use, I'm thinking stables, but I don't know if they let NPCs in or out. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jonald (talkcontribs).

They do let people in or out by the stable door that everyone can use, just use guards, they never run. Puddle 12:02, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
I haven't confirmed this, but you could just put paintbrushes in front of the door so that it would just be like another part of the fence.--Imperial Scum 16:29, 11 April 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Avoid Arrows Problem

In the section "Avoid Arrows", it states that you should get 100% Reflect Damage, one of the parts being the Escutcheon of Chorrol. It also says to get 110% Reflect Magic, and use the Spell Breaker. However, these are both shields and can obviously not be used at the same time. The section implies that you can have both immunity to physical and magical damage at the same time, but with this method it is impossible. Figgy 01:13, 29 May 2008 (EDT)
