[edit] RPG elements and notes

Should RPG suggestions be made in walkthrough as notes? Is it valid to add suggestions for role-players? Role-players can choose actions that seem in character, for this one it seemed right to complete the contract properly (even though the quest can be completed without killing all the trolls), and retrieving at least Vilanus' sword was appropriate to return to his mother. hmmmm... --MacFodder 06:16, 22 February 2007 (EST)

agreed. I thought the same thing reading this page. Lalanas 20:34, 19 March 2007 (EDT)
also, some of the wording is a bit...uh...wordy and not really useful beyond being flowery. should that be trimmed down as well? Lalanas 19:32, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
You both got my blessings, I totally agree. There is a page for role-players. A walkthrough should be simple and detailed with useful details. As for the notes, they should encompass points of interests, hidden secrets (if any) and tips. --Vartan 19:39, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
In that regard I edited a note with the caveat "If your into roleplaying...". Grandmaster z0b 19:52, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
Yeah good idea, why not have a separate column on quest pages, with some green background. It'd be entitled "If you're into roleplaying..." and then it'd give a list of the things you would want to do? I'm just throwing that out, I'm not skilled using Wikipedia so I'll let others decide :p --Vartan 19:55, 20 March 2007 (EDT)

The RPG suggestion is completly out of place on this page.... Put those comments on a roleplaying page, and not quest tips, especially since it is not commonplace on walkthroughs.... 24.149.23.119 13:10, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

The notes section in Oblivion:Trolls of Forsaken Mine and Oblivion:Forsaken Mine provide contrasting information about whether the corpses will appear before the quest or not. Ankoch 21:14, 15 June 2008 (EDT)

[edit] All the bodies are missing!

I went into this mine and all the NPC's were missing, only Viranus's body was there. So I missed out on some great loot. Anybody else have this situation? TheOtherZack 68.26.248.205 21:32, 1 December 2008 (EST)

I am having the same problem actually, no bodies, trolls..anything, just rats..I did find Viranus though and retrieved the journal...but it doesn't feel complete without hacking some trolls away =/ Pra3t0r 0f R0m3 21:40, 2 January 2009 (EST)
I had the same problem, no bodies except Viranus Donton. I had entered the mine earlier before I got this quest, and killed all the trolls, and - as expected - found no dead members of the fighters guild. Closer examination with the Construction Set revealed, that all the dead bodies are initially present, but as disabled NPCs. These NPCs will not respawn during cell reset like the leveled savage trolls, and are removed like any other dead body, when the mine is repopulated with nuisance creatures and the chests are refilled.
It is possible to check the condition of the mine with the console commands prid 3B30C and enable, which will do the same as the script at Stage 10 of Quest FGD06 (FGD06DeadFGREF.Enable). If the bodies are still present, they will slowly appear (magically before your eyes, if you are there), if not, only large boodstains will appear, because these are static objects, also initially disabled. This depends on the amount of time passed after first entry into the mine.
This may be considered a bug, however it would be better, if the cave is considered locked until the quest starts, because there is no reason for a dead Viranus, if there are no trolls. I have not checked, if it is even possible, to kill or remove all trolls just by entering the mine zones shortly and waiting for later reset.
Done with German Oblivion retail version, Shivering Isles retail installed, last official Bethesda patch 1.2.0416 applied, DARNnified UI and Raymunds Patches (German translations and UOP). Results unchanged with patches removed.
