Grammar[edit]

The following sentence:

The Collector: Help Umbacano, an ancient artifact collector, recover the "Ten Ancestors", a set of ancient Ayleid statues.

Should be modified to:

The Collector: Help Umbacano, a collector of ancient artifacts, recover the "Ten Ancestors", a set of ancient Ayleid statues.

The reason for this edit is that in the first sentence, the modifier of Umbacano is misplaced, giving the sentence the connotation that Umbacano is "ancient". The second sentence rectifies this problem by making the modifier modify "collector", instead of "Umbacano".

Thanks, done... but you can make changes like that for yourself if you like. –RpehTCE 04:58, 4 January 2009 (EST)
"Um bacano" (with space) can be translated to Portuguese "a cool guy" (or something like it). Maybe there's a Portuguese dev! --Disarm76 14:30, 17 April 2009 (EDT)
http://translation2.paralink.com/ states that "Um bacano" means "A wealthy man" in Portuguese, and Umbacano is, without a doubt, wealthy. Is this worth mentioning? --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 14:34, 17 April 2009 (EDT)

Umbacano Manor[edit]

Out of curiosity, has anyone tested the containers in Umbacano Manor? Since he dies at the end of Secrets of the Ayleids anyway, if you could take over his house it'd be mighty nice. GenocideHeart 11:51, 7 March 2009 (EST)

I might give that a try. It has always slightly bothered me that the crummiest house is in the imposing Imperial City, so it would be nice if that were the case. My suspicion is that there won't be any there, but it's worth a shot. Of course, with the console, you can change the ownership of beds and even change the name 'on the door', so to speak. — Unsigned comment by 87.127.79.8 (talk) on 19 April 2009
Just taken a look at everything using the CS. In the basement, all the sacks are safe. Nothing on the ground floor is safe. In the private quarters, there are three chests: one in front of the main desk, against a wall, under a painting, the other two standing on top of one another in a room with a writing desk but no bed. Lastly, the locked jewelry box. There's nothing in the attic. –RpehTCE 07:32, 20 April 2009 (EDT)
Is there anyway to alter the containers so that they are all safe?12.74.164.125 23:04, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
No, but that would be nice--Corevette789 23:36, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Outside of containers[edit]

<math>Insert formula here</math>

Is it safe to place items outside of the containers within umbacano manor? Because it'd be nice to decorate — Unsigned comment by 24.208.29.92 (talk) on 28 October 2009

It's always safe to store items outside of containers (though some players have reported that items may fall through the ground at various locations in the game). When a cell resets it doesn't affect the items you left there lying around (but it does reset containers you may have put items in). --Timenn-<talk> 10:16, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
Do not forget though that people may pick up items. I left a dwarves longsword outside and a beggar started to wear it around in Anvil.Obliviongamer 00:49, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

The Ayleid Revivalist[edit]

Glarthir: "Maybe the Mythic Dawn, or the Ayleid Revivalists?". There is one, at least. 94.180.10.20 23:00, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

PS3 glitch[edit]

On the PS3 version of the game, when you try to walk up the stairs to Umbacano's quarters, the player may get stuck on the first step, you must jump to get out of this glitch.

I moved this from the main page. If there's confirmation that this is specific to the PS3 and not just a one-time occurance, it'll be put back. --Darth NANAME 17:42, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
I've played on the PS3 and 360 versions and can confirm this odd glitch on both of them. Not gamebreaking or anything, just annoying. Jollring occasionally gets stuck on the first step as well, and has to be prodded to one side to get him to open the door. Probably not worth mentioning unless someone has actually got truly stuck there (but I think the game would autosave on entrance to the manor anyway, so a quick reload would sort it). --Chiliflamingo 21:07, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
I have noticed this on the PC. Fortunately, there is a button called a spacebar, which allowed me to ignore the obstacle. --TheEnigmaticMan 20:42, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Glitch[edit]

I walked into the study with Jollring and I was attacked by some crazy high elf in full elven armor with a claymore. I checked and it said his name was "King of Nenalata"! Someone help me!!!!! Stirksailor 01:40, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Thats who Umbacano becomes. You helped him become the king of nenalta, then ran and he followed you. Or its a glitch and he appeared early.--Catmaniac66 19:21, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

I think Umbacano is Ayleid not Altmer...[edit]

I got this dialouge specifically when I turned in the 8th Statue...

"I had never thought to see eight of the Ancestors together again in my lifetime. Well done!"

I only recieved that dialouge when I turned in the 8th statue. I seriously think this guy is Ayleid and using "sorcery" to remain young.--71.23.17.32 02:27, 6 September 2011 (UTC) unokitsune

Actually, I think you misunderstood what he was saying. He meant that he never thought that "eight of the Ancestors" together again; he says "in my lifetime" because he thought it would only happen again after he was dead (in other words, he has never seen them together but had hopes to seem them together in his lifetime). And I'd like to establish for anyone else who may ask the popular question "Is Umbacano an Ayleid?": No. Period. End of story. Ayleids and Altmer looked different, spoke different, and practiced magic different. They were no more alike Altmer than they were alike to Dunmer or Bosmer. Even if Umbacano was making himself young, we never have evidence of magic changing race (this isn't Harry Potter's polyjuice potionever it's spelled ;) ). I myself used to find myself wondering this, but Elder Scrolls Lore clearly shows that this is an impossibility.--Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 05:12, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
