Not sure how this fits in exactly, but I remember seeing that Usheeja's Amulet exists in this game. It's actually a carry-over from Morrowind, which also had an Usheeja's Amulet, but no Usheeja to go with it. (This amulet was also memorable as one of the few items in Morrowind with a unique appearance.) Probably bears looking into... --TheRealLurlock 10:36, 11 September 2006 (EDT)
- I just looked in the CS, and couldn't find this amulet. It is definitely not in Usheeja's inventory or house, and couldn't find it under Clothing (as either Usheeja's Amulet or Amulet of Usheeja). On a site search, I found a reference to it Morrowind ([[Morrowind:Item List/Clothing]]), but nowhere else. --Nephele 12:39, 11 September 2006 (EDT)
[edit] Usheeja's Murder
While spying out from a distance (using the excellent Dwemer Binoculars mod) the Ayleid ruin Fanacasecul prior to an attack, I witnessed the, to me, very surprising sight of the two resident bandits attacking and killing an Argonian dressed in chainmail armor. I was too far away to have intervened in the fight, and anyway wasn't at all certain what was really going on, but, after I had closed with the bandits and killed them, I discovered that their victim was this character Usheeja. Searching the corpse I found, amongst the usual effects, the key to his house. Obviously, I then wondered what the game was setting up for me here and what I was supposed to do. After looking in the CS and reading the notes here, I am actually inclined to suspect that this is just another example of the game trying to entrap my character (i.e., in this case, into trespassing into Usheeja's house, by suggesting that this might be part of some kind of quest). I chose to play a "good" character in Oblivion, that from the beginning didn't murder or steal, and yet the game has succeeded in entraping me into "stealing" (no red hand on any of them, either before taking them or in the inventory) 28 items (mainly from the Hackdirt quest, I think, because I let the villagers live and they made a "false report") which I only discovered, too late to go back to a previous save, when I was arrested and fined after happening to talk much later to a guard (nothing was removed from my inventory, but the stats log says that I stole 28 items). I won't bore you with other instances of attempted entrapment I have experienced, but, as you may guess, I am not happy with this kind of interference from the game in how I choose to play it - if only because it ruins the experience of immersion knowing that there is a backseat driver watching my every move and trying to trip me up or trap me for its own amusement (and don't let me get onto the topic of the game's cheating, which also destroys its realism for me).
Anyway, thanks to these notes I now know that there is no quest involving Usheeja and no need to enter his house, but I am still not decided whether to go back to my previous save and try to rescue him from the bandits (just to thwart the game, maybe, although I would risk it then putting him in the way of my arrows or sword). --Armod195.92.67.74 15:21, 19 March 2007 (EDT)
- First, there's no background script in Oblivion that tries to trip you up. I can only think of one quest where you are forced to do something illegal in an ostensibly "good" situation. If you haven't stolen items, then you won't have any items showing up in that statistic. There's nothing the game can force you to do. You can leave quests incomplete if you don't want your good character to have any blemishes on his/her record.
- Second, how does the game cheat?
- Third, to anybody, why would Usheeja be wandering around Fanacaseul? I know people travel, but I didn't think Usheeja went anywhere outside the Imperial City. IWon'tFightUndead 21:43, 28 November 2007 (EST)
I went into Umbacano Manor on the "The Collector" quest and noticed that Usheeja's health was low, meaning that he had been in a fight with something. It might be worthwhile to hang around a few days and see where he goes at night. Also, I went in the house before 9am and the door was not locked. This was bad because Usheeja considered it trespassing and threatened to call the guards. I reloaded a save-before-enter then waited till it was 9am and everything went fine -Zack 4 Mar 2008
I've just found him dead on the road just north of Bravil. A nearby brown bear was the likely culprit. Quite a dangerous part of Cyrodil, around Bravil...I've also found Hlidara Mothril and Carandial dead in the vicinity. ComaDivine 13:37, 5 September 2008 (EDT)
