[edit] Multiple Wayshrines

There are multiple wayshrines to each of the Divines (between three and four each). --Trithemius 19:28, 6 April 2006 (EDT)

I've retrieved the locations from the CS, to do so:
  • In the Object Window, choose WorldObjects > Static > Wayshrines.
  • For each of the four Wayshrine variants, right click and choose Use Info, giving a list of cells in which these shrines variants are found.
  • To discover which Divine's shrine it is, go to Cell View with the Tamrial worldspace, expand the Form IDs in both Object Window and Cell View and cross-reference.
  • In the Objects part of Cell View, there will be a WayshineAltar... item with the Divine's name
Welcome to check, there appear to be two plain, non-associated Wayshrines (in the CS, not checked in game), these are Wayshrine03 in cell (45, 3) and Wayshrine04 in cell (-26, 25)
Map is done automatically using dimensions of the overall colour map and some rough arithmetic, so may not be quite accurate --AndrewP 11:07, 15 April 2006 (BST)

[edit] Individual Gates Being Destroyed

While editing this page (in particular to provide all the wayshrine locations), I deleted the comments about individual gates being destroyed by oblivion gates, since the notes indicate that the gates are not in fact destroyed.--Nephele 03:16, 16 June 2006 (EDT)

[edit] Optimal Set

Has anyone discovered a "best" or optimal path for visiting all nine. Best in either of at least two possible senses: 1. of shortest distance or least amount of time, and 2. of being easiest for a low level character or beginning player to find or visit? — Unsigned comment by Kalevala (talkcontribs)

I haven't thought about it before, but I'd guess that this would be a pretty good set to visit:
  • the four right around Skingrad (Mara, Tiber Septim, Arkay, and Kynareth)
  • the three around the Imperial City (Julianos, Stendarr, and Dibella)
  • the two by Kvatch (Zenithar, Akatosh)
These are some of the best clusters of wayshrines (Skingrad in particular) and you can fast-travel to each of the cities even as a new character. Also they're mostly close enough to cities that a weak character could flee back to the city in case of random enemies, and get the guardsmen to defend. If you're trying to hit them all in a row, you might want to start with Akatosh and take advantage of its speed boost (following up with Zenithar and the luck boost won't hurt either for speediness). That's a starting point at least... feel free to experiment and see if you can improve on it :) --Nephele 01:34, 10 January 2007 (EST)

[edit] talos vs. tiber septim

I have noticed that UESPWiki has been referring to Talos as Tiber Septim (which is accurate), but the game itself refers to Talos as Talos. Shouldn't we be consistent with the game itself? Lalanas 16:05, 2 April 2007 (EDT)

I think this is a Knights of the Nine issue. In the original game (without any mods), the wayshrines to T* are each identified as "Wayshrine of Tiber Septim". Once you install Knights of the Nine, they're all renamed to "Wayshrine of Talos". I hadn't noticed this before; probably a note about this name change needs to be added somewhere. But I'd say that this page should use "Tiber Septim" as the primary name, since that's the name in the vanilla version of the game. --Nephele 16:43, 2 April 2007 (EDT)
agreed. i didn't realize that my knights of the nine had changed it. Lalanas 16:55, 2 April 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Dibella

The wayshrine of Dibella gives unlimited uses, great for leveling up magic skills fast

I'm not sure what this note that was added to the article is trying to say. The wayshrines of Dibella work exactly the same way as every other wayshrines: without Knights of the Nine it can only be used once per fame level; with KotN it can be used multiple times as long as your infamy is 0. So I don't see any reason to single out Dibella's wayshrines. Furthermore, I'm not sure how using a wayshrine is supposed to help with leveling up your magic skills... unless your character is an Atronach or otherwise has spell absorption abilities. --NepheleTalk 11:49, 7 April 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Removing Gray Fox infamy

Is it possible to remove the Gray Fox's infamy by using the wayshrines after installing KotN? — Unsigned comment by Ichigo (talkcontribs)

No. See the notes, in particular the one about not being able to use wayshrines when wearing the Gray Cowl. See also the notes on the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal about the Cowl's bounty. --NepheleTalk 16:24, 6 July 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Horses and Wayshrines

Can you get a horse blessed at a wayshrine, and if so, how??-Mr. V 09:37, 19 September 2007 (EDT)

Try here, under "Useful Spells," second paragraph. --Eshe 19:33, 23 September 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Horses at Wayshrines

Note that there is a game glitch, and I dont know if there's a specific way to activate it because I discovered this by accident, where if you ride up to one of the shrines (I'm pretty sure this happened with the Julianos shrine) with shadowmere, dismount him, pray, and then get back on,shadowmere will go at about 400mph. I'm not joking, this actually happened to my guy. — Unsigned comment by 207.229.133.174 (talk)

Yep, that's how you bless a horse (see above question and link). --Eshetalk22:02, 30 October 2007 (EDT)
I've had this glitch too, take a look at my message if you are interested.--Willyhead 09:25, 15 February 2008 (EST)
Is there anyway to remove this effect? My horse is now useless except for fast travel. Any normal travel, and I lose whatever speed benefit I might have got because I have to constantly stop, dismount, and heal the horse. I've also had to use the console to resurrect him after he was attacked by a bear, tried to flee, hit a rock and shot 90 feet into the air, immediately falling to his instant death. If there isn't a way to dispel it, I'm going to kill the horse and buy another one, because this is absolutely useless. And I really can't afford to be replacing a horse. 98.211.124.111 05:03, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
That is my problem, too! The blessing should have worn off a long time ago, but my horse is still super-fast and thus barely usable. AND I don't know whether it's because somehow no magical effect is registered on the horse, but Dispel on touch seems to be not working. When I cast Dispel on my horse, the shape of the horse doesn't glow. I haven't found a solution anywhere, so I'll probably park the horse somewhere and buy another one. After all... money is not the problem in Oblivion. If you want to, you can use several easy ways to make loads of it. --217.85.242.219 12:37, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Infamy

Can anybody answer this infamy question?

First, the situation: I have started the Pilgrim quest, have not started the Brotherhood quests and have no infamy.

Since visiting all the Wayshrines erases infamy can I now join the Brotherhood, complete most of the quests, then complete the Wayshrines to erase all infamy? Some notes seem to say that if you gain infamy while doing Wayshrines you need to re-visit all the shrines. Zack - 10 Mar 2008 — Unsigned comment by 4.246.21.115 (talk) at 05:42 on 11 March 2008

I believe this is only the case when Knights of the Nine is installed. Without KotN, you can only visit one wayshrine for each god once every fame level, and you get a blessing as long as your fame is greater than your infamy, regardless of your infamy level. With KotN, you can visit wayshrines as often as you like, but you only get the blessing if your infamy is zero. If your infamy is greater than zero, visiting one wayshrine for each god will set it to zero. --Gaebrial 03:59, 11 March 2008 (EDT)
Yes I can confirm that with KotN this is possible! I started with 0 Infamy and went to a few washshrines (Zenithars and Talos) then completed sanguines quest. Then with one infamy went to the remaining shrines and before I could get to Talos and Zenithars it said I had been forgiven! Herkron 15:54, 30 April 2008 (EDT)
Great to hear, but is this repeatable? Can one use this to absolve infamy in the middle of the KON Pilgrimage quest, incur additional infamy but absolve this second lot by visiting all 9 wayshrines again outside the initial KON Pilgrimage quest? 220.245.178.135 01:28, 14 June 2008 (EDT)
yes — Unsigned comment by 81.141.178.120 (talk) at 15:28 on 11 August 2009

[edit] Location

Maybe it's just me, but has anyone else noticed that for the majority of the daedra shrines there is a wayshrine very near it? I think that would be helpful info to know, I at least use it to complete the pilgramige by fast traveling to a daedric shrine then searching for a wayshrine. 207.69.139.141 19:31, 5 February 2009 (EST)

the above is me, forgot to sign in AlphaOmega 19:34, 5 February 2009 (EST)

[edit] wayshrine isn't working

the article says the wayshrine of Kynareth just east of Skingrad is still usable after the oblivion gate is closed but when I activated it it cast a spell but I received no effects. does anyone know why this is happeing. I'm playing on xbox — Unsigned comment by 81.141.178.120 (talk)

This is from memory, but I think there is a problem with part of the ruined gate blocking the spell effect from certain directions, due to the exact location the spell is 'cast' from. You just need to move around the shrine to a position that isn't blocked by the gate debris. --Gaebrial 07:17, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Specific map for wayshrines

I noticed that on gamefaqs there was a very useful map for wayshrines in the maps area and I was wondering if someone could create something similar to it and post it here. — Unsigned comment by Ymprat (talkcontribs) on 14 December 2009

Uh, that map can already be found here, and is linked from this article. We also have our Oblivion map as well. --Timenn-<talk> 10:32, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Zenithar

I had Zenithar's blessing (whatever it's called) of +10 Luck and a Highwayman refused to extort me, saying instead a random friendly greeting. If I talked to him his dialogue was still limited to extortion but if I did not he would not initiate it with me, simply pacing back and forth instead. If this is the effect from Zenithar it and any similar effects (kynaryth and animal hostility?) should be noted. I don't think it was my luck, only like 66, but it might have been a game bug. My copy seems quite prone to them. 206.53.58.90 15:05, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Enchantment misses?

At the Way Shrine of Akatosh that is Southwest of Bruma, I activated it, and the enchantment promptly hit the rock three meters behind me. I didn't think this was possible? 118.210.231.191 01:38, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

It is a ranged spell, so it can occasionally miss you if you move while activating it or sometimes a shot just veers off in the wrong direction. Not a major problem really, but it is a bit annoying. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 01:45, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. I was kind of worried my game was glitching. 118.210.231.191 01:46, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Infamy clearing bug?

I completed the Path of the Wayshrines without taking on the quest, and recieved the Greater Power, Pilgrim's Grace. After that, I did the entire Thieves Guild quest line. I started to do the wayshrine path to clear my infamy, but it was cleared at the start when I activated the Wayshrine of Akatosh near Anvil. I did not need to do the entire circuit again. Bug or intended behaviour? 24.156.216.144 19:17, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

It's standard behaviour. See Oblivion:Pilgrimage#The_Wayshrines (5th paragraph). --NepheleTalk 20:01, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Restoring Magicka?

I remember there being a wayshrine that could restore all of your magicka. I've been hitting this Wayshrine of Akatosh for a while now, but it hasn't happened (it only happens on the particular shrine that does it once out of four or five times). Any help?99.52.200.110 21:35, 23 November 2012 (GMT)
