Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

Tovisa, a member of the Pact, will come out of hiding to speak to you when you walks around the outskirts of Northwind Mine. She needs help in figuring out why the Reachmen have taken over the mine. She disguises herself as a peasant and lets herself get captured to infiltrate the camp. Meanwhile, she needs you to investigate the camp for information. She gives you a Northwind Disguise to make the task easier. As with other disguises involved in quests, do not wander too close to the Stonetalon Sentries, who are holding torches. If they see you, your cover will be blown and your disguise will be destroyed. If you lose your current disguise, a new one may be looted from dead Stonetalon clansmen.

The hagraven totem

There are three specific objects that you are supposed to investigate. The nearest one is the Corpse Cart behind Alona's Sanctum. Peer into the cart and examine the bodies.

<This cart is piled high with the bodies of dead miners. All the corpses are missing their eyes.>

Next is a Hagraven Totem at the westernmost portion of the camp. Examine it.

<This totem bears the distinctive markings of Hagraven worship.>

The last item of interest is a book on a table in the forge towards the center of the camp, which talks about how hagravens enjoy eating eyeballs. If a totem associated with hagraven worship is located nearby, hagravens like to eat eyes, and all the corpses in the cart you looked at were missing their eyes, these Reachmen must worship eyeball-eating hagravens. Tovisa and the villagers from Shor's Stone are in danger. Head to the area where the captive miners are being held and report your findings to Tovisa.

Tovisa will ask you to intervene with what the Reachmen are doing by infiltrating the mine. The key to which is inside Alona's Sanctum. She plans on warning Vigrod about the hagravens, and gives you the Sanctum Key. Enter the sanctum directly south of Tovisa's location, where you will be met by Heiress Alona and a Stonetalon Witchman. The heiress appears to be communicating with Stral Blackthroat and someone named Thallik Wormfather. Kill the heiress and the witchman, then take the key from the nearby chest. If you so choose, you can sneak up behind the heiress and take the key from the chest without alerting the Reachmen.

Return to where the prisoners are being kept and speak with Prisoner Gnarled-Root in the now-empty enclosure. She will tell you that all of the prisoners besides her have been taken to be murdered in the mines. If you have unlocked the Intimidating Presence passive from the Fighters Guild skill line, you will be able to intimidate her for a ward that stuns hagravens.

Inside the mine's first large chamber, Tovisa will be found with a piece of cloth covering her eyes. It turns out that she was drugged and the Hagraven took her eyes. This conversation will end the quest and begin the next one.

* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
