Durnroot Burrow

Dunroot Burrow is a very large hive cave southwest of Highcross containing Elytra (quest-related). [edit] It contains five zones: Dunroot Burrow, Dunroot Burrow, Kelp Fen, Dunroot Burrow, Drone Tunnels, Dunroot Burrow, Bramble Halls, and Dunroot Burrow, Sanctum of Decadence.

Related Quests

Notes

  • The cave is blocked with a membrane on the outside that can not be removed until the player has consumed the drug Felldew, found on a particular Elytra that inhabit it and guard the outside. This is all explained and experienced during the related quest.
  • While by all Isles terms, this would be called a root cave, in actuality it is much more of a massive Elytra hive, with the last zone being a cathedral-like Felldew addict den.
  • Whether doing the related quest or not, this cave is exceptionally long and winding, in addition to being quite difficult at times given the large amount of Elytra inhabiting it. A careful player taking the cave at leisure should be prepared to spend a possible two or three game days inside before making it out the bottom. If doing the related quest, extra care should be taken prior to entering (in the form of potions, spells, and repair hammers), as the quick withdrawing effect from the Felldew will reduce all Main Attributes gradually up to ten points.
  • The first four zones, Dunroot Burrow, Kelp Fen, Drone Tunnels, and Bramble Halls all contain a beautifully rewarding amount of treasure in the form of 'Hollowed Amber Stumps' and the rarer 'Hollowed Amber Limb'. The last zone, Sanctum of Decadence, is the shortest of the five, consisting of basically one room with two 'Felldew Addicts' and the shifty-eyed Joofy the Brown who treat you as hostile but put up little resistance. Other than the related quest item, some Felldew, and a lot of Wine, there is not much rewarding treasure. There can be found a pair of Wrist Irons on top of one of the cupboards like the ones worn by the player at the beginning of Oblivion; amusing but also of no value unless the player is a mage wants to enchant them for protection while still attaining 100% spell effectiveness.
  • This cave contains 220 Flame Stalk plants, 27 Screaming Maw plants, 1 Mute Screaming Maw plant, 5 Watcher's Eye plants, and 149 Root Stalk plants.
