Zone 1: Rotten Den, Deadfall

Deadfall is quite large and split into 2 rooms, both of which have you run through a path as Scalon Statue traps (fourteen in the first room, seven in the second) shoot down at you. Only four of the statues (M) actually shoot at you, and those that do can be avoided by carefully timing your run through their field of fire. Be aware that Zealots patrol the area as well. There are also some Root Spikes traps (N) along the walls, avoidable by jumping over the trigger plants on the floor; and some Spike Traps cycle on a regular in-out pattern as you approach, which can be avoided by waiting for them to retract and then running past.

Occupants:

  • 2 Zealots
  • 2 Zealots (always best possible level)

  • 1 Dead Treasure Hunter (carries light armor, one weapon, unenchanted loot) at location O on map
  • 1 bedroll at b

Zone 2: Rotten Den, Precipice

Early on, a Scalon Statue (T) will take shots at you and trying to rush by the trap will result in multiple Zealots attacking. In the area after that a Zealot on a stone elevated over a pit will start casting spells at you. Past the pit is a large Scalon Statue, although it does not cast spells. Multiple Zealots patrol the area, and even players on easier difficulty settings should approach this last part with caution. From this area, 3 other zones are accessible: Hollow to the east (F); Sanctum to the south (E); and Encampment to the west (G). If you are just here for M'desi's Skull to complete the Ghosts of the Hill of Suicides quest, head straight to Sanctum.

Occupants:

  • 1 boss-level Zealot at location A on map
  • 5 Zealots (always best possible level)

Zone 3: Rotten Den, Sanctum

Like Hollow, this Zone is defended by Shambles. When entering from the the door in Precipice (E) or the two closer doors from Hollow (I) or Encampment (K), multiple holes lead down to a main hallway which has Shambles as well as many Root Spikes traps (N). Wait until the spike traps activate before running past them. To get to M'Desi's Skull (Q) for the undocumented quest, head west along the trapped hallway, up the ramp (heading south) from the coffin room, through another spike-trapped hallway and into a room defended by a Matriarch (A) and a few hulking Scalon traps (O). The skull is on the treasure Chest in front of where the Zealot is located upon first entering the room.

Occupants:

  • 1 boss-level Zealot at location A on map
  • 1 boss-level Shambles at A
  • 2 Shambles
  • 5 Shambles (always best possible level)

Zone 4: Rotten Den, Hollow

The name describes this zone perfectly: a large room with Shambles on patrol. Beware of the many Root Worm traps (T) in the first large open area. There is a Hollowed Stump under the ramp into the first room; it's easily missed unless you're backtracking. Some serious Acrobatics fortification or the Paint Brush climbing trick enables access to the southeast room's upper deck, which has a boss-level Hollowed Stump (B). Hollow has two doors to Sanctum (I and J).

Occupants:

  • 4 Shambles
  • 2 Shambles (always best possible level)

Again, the name of the room describes the place to the letter: this is the living quarters of the Zealots. Players on harder difficulty settings should use stealth (100% Chameleon or Invisibility) or prepare for long, drawn-out combat. There are beds in this room and it is possible that the Zealots will be sleeping when you enter the room, making it a simple task of sneaking up and killing them or just sneaking past them. However, if they are awake, the task of getting past the room is much harder. This zone contains two doors to Sanctum (L and K) as well as a shortcut back to Deadfall (D).

Occupants:

  • 2 Zealots
  • 4 Zealots (always best possible level)

Other:

  • 3 Dead Young Baliwogs at locations M on map
  • 6 bedrolls at b
