Shadowrends

Shadowrend is a weapon retrieved during the main quest. It is one of the most powerful weapons in the game.

It can either be a claymore or a battleaxe. If your Blunt skill is greater than your Blade skill at the point when you enter the Grove of Reflection, you will receive the battleaxe. If your Blade skill is greater, or if the two skills have the same value, you will receive the claymore.

It is leveled to the character's level at the time it is received. It also has a leveled enchantment that casts Weakness to Magic and Damage Health on strike. The Damage Health effect is leveled with the weapon but the Weakness to Magic remains the same for every level with a magnitude of 15%.

[edit] How to Get It

Shadowrend is obtained in the quest Symbols of Office. When you reach the Grove of Reflection, you will have to battle with a shadow version of yourself.

You must retrieve the blade/axe after defeating your clone, but he/she will only drop it if it is the weapon equipped. Even if the weapon is equipped, the clone will only drop it if it's unsheathed at the moment of its death, so be sure to wait until the clone draws the weapon before incapacitating it. It would be easier if you silenced the clone to stop it from summoning a weapon, and so preventing you from collecting Shadowrend (alternatively, cast Dispel to dispel any summoned weapon). It helps to save before you fight your clone, in case it does not drop Shadowrend.

Your clone possesses all the spells you have, and if you are wearing invisible armor, it too will be invisible.

If you have a weapon in your inventory, that the game considers better than Shadowrend, then the clone will use the other weapon and not drop Shadowrend when defeated.

In general, the sword and axe versions of Shadowrend have the same statistics, other than the governing skill. One exception is the weapon's weight for the maximum level version.

[edit] Notes

  • Shadowrend is almost identical in appearance to the Dragonsword of Lainlyn, which is added by the Fighter's Stronghold official plug-in, however the Dragonsword is a one-handed weapon.
  • The shape of the Shadowrend Battle Axe is identical to that of the Daedric Battle Axe, but its texture is black and smooth instead.
  • In the light, Shadowrend turns a shiny yellow color.
  • Shadowrend is slightly faster than most other two-handed weapons, having a speed of .85 rather than .8 or .7.
