Xedilian is a medium ruin southeast of The Fringe, at the heel of Madgod's Boot, initially containing Grummites (quest-related). [edit] It contains two zones: Xedilian and Xedilian, Halls of Judgment.

Xedilian is a type of torture and endurance chamber consisting of multiple "survival" rooms with varying physical or mental tests for each. Initially it was used to test adventurers that entered into The Shivering Isles of their worthiness, much as The Gatekeeper of the Fringe is used for currently. Since the Gatekeeper was more efficient at it, Xedilian was forgotten and all but lost to ruin. Described as "a marvel of engineering", it is disguised as a ruin full of treasure to entice greedy adventurers, who are initially lured in by a "Siren's Call" type of device deep within that attracts them from the outside. Once inside, they travel through a series of three chambers where a spectator watches them from up on a platform and decides whether they will face an overly challenging foe (death), or a mentally unbearable illusion (madness).

Initially Xedilian is broken down and overtaken by Grummites. It must be cleaned out and restored in the quest A Better Mousetrap. After it has been fixed, the player is given the opportunity to work the chambers in the quest Baiting the Trap.
