it is actually possible to kill him without either tears or arrows, i have done it before. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.151.111.96 (talkcontribs).

Yep, that's what it says: you can fight him as-is, or use the arrows and/or tears. --GuildKnight | Talk contribs 21:19, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

Ah sorry, did not notice it there :) Flongoid 21:25, 29 March 2007 (EDT)

Can you kill him when the adventurers are attacking him? It would make it much easier. --Elpiggo 13:28, 06 May 2007 (EST)
Believe so, but he really is so easy with arrows and tears you wouldnt need to. -Lordsword 8 10:16, 6 May 2007 (EDT)
I guess you could kill him, but if you notice whilst the adventuers are attacking him, they actually do NO DAMAGE. This is what makes him look really hard to kill - besides, during that battle, he might be under the effects of the SetGhost command discussed under the staff of banishing, which would mean that you couldn't kill him. - Aeroice 23:56, 1 June 2007 (EDT)
I tried to kill him during the adventurerer's battle, and i could do no damage to him either. Right when they died though, THEN i started to hurt him. I think the adventurers DO do damage, but the gatekeeper is invincible while they are alive. - Lucky the Cat Guy 18:56, 9 August 2008 (EDT)

That image is sort of small. Anyone have a better one? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Timmeh (talkcontribs).

Just saw Jayred die in my game, kamikazeed on a shamble in Dementia. So I guess he doesn't stay essential after that quest, but now I wonder who to report any talking bones to. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.190.50.241 (talkcontribs).

Your dedication and diligence to the wiki has not gone unnoticed. A user has seen the progress you've made, and has given you a cookie because of it. Good work! The user had the following to say:

You now have the right to aknowledge yourself as a true Spartan >:D.

Then the award should go to AlbinoMudcrab, since he added that. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 14:07, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
Wow, I don't know how I never noticed the cookie here. I feel bad since it's been so long, whoever put it here, will probably never read my thanks. Good lord we have a lot of articles. Anyways, whoever you might be 24.17.138.249 I thank you for being one of the few that picks up and gets a kick out of my absurd, yet cleverly and strangely fitting, pop-culture references. They are spread all over different articles and it always thrills me just as much as the reader when someone takes notice. Thanks again for as far as I can tell--I'm the only "deemed" true Spartan currently on the wiki. --AlbinoMudcrab 00:53, 23 April 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Can do you all quests in both Mania and Dementia?

Just wondering; also can you alternate transporting in between both the realms at any given time? - Some Random Person Obsessed with Oblivion —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 162.83.222.97 (talkcontribs).

The answer to both questions is yes. --Mankar Camoran 08:34, 30 October 2007 (EDT)
Is there a difference between the two realms other than the inital spell given? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 38.100.176.34 (talkcontribs).
Yes, there is, mainly in landscaping, the types of foes you will encounter, and behavior of the inhabitants. Puddle 20:23 April 13, 2008.

[edit] Nanette's Punishment

You can coax the info on Relmyna's Tears out of Nanette to defeat the Gatekeeper. If you do so, when you meet Nanette at Xaselm, she'll refuse to talk to you any further because of the punishment she received from Relmyna.

If you defeat the Gatekeeper in any other fashion, am I to assume Nanette would be more recpetive in the future? That difference should be noteworthy. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 192.31.106.35 (talkcontribs).

You'd think so, wouldn't you? However, on my first trip through the Isles I didn't get the tears and Nanette still wouldn't talk to me. At the time I wondered what on Nirn I'd done to the poor woman. It was only afterwards I found out... --RpehTCE 02:18, 12 December 2007 (EST)
I tested this, and when you use the Tears, she will say something along the lines of "Get away from me, thanks to you Relmyna punished me...so much pain..." and when you kill Yourself, or with the arrows, she greets you normally and will say something along the lines of "I'm not fond of Relmyna's ways...but i learned so much...so much...". - Lucky the Cat Guy 18:59, 9 August 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Orc Adventurer Captain

I went to see the good ol' adventurer fight, and noticed an Orc clad in full ebony armor sporting the above name, or some variation of such. When the quest update stated the party had been bested, the captain, having survived up till then, sheathed his weapon and sprinted up the hill to the Door to Cyrodiil and entered. I followed through, but he had disappeared. I'm sure he was nowhere to be found because I had a 180ft. Detect Life enchantment on my ring and there were no dashing purple blobs. Is this nomral? Was it a glitch in the quest or his AI? Why did he disappear? 69.155.129.36 17:56, 23 January 2008 (EST)

I don't know for sure, but he's probably disabled after entering the door. That isn't a bug; it happens troughout the game on several occasions (J'skar for example)--LordDagon 11:40, 26 January 2008 (EST)

[edit] Gatekeeper Bug

The bug seems to happen on PS3 whether or not you leave Shivering Isles. Upon reaching the gate and talking to everyone (the aventurers give the message "I HAVE NO GREETING" from the get-go), they all just stand around and do nothing. A couple of the adventurers are actually stuck in the steps to the point that you can only see their heads sticking up. Attacking the Gatekeeper has no effect, as I cannot find a weapon that kills him fast enough before he regenerates. Magic has no effect on him at all. Waiting or resting has no effect on the adventurers. Also, I cannot get the other two quests to come up to get the Gatekeeper Arrows or Relmyna's Tears. Does that only happen after the adventurers are torn to bits? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 38.100.176.34 (talkcontribs).

[edit] Gatekeeper Bone Arrows

When you get these arrows I would strongly recommend that you keep some to duplicate. I think these are the best unenchanted arrows in the game. They are equal to Perfect Madness and Amber arrows and they only weigh 0.1 instead of 0.3. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Imperial Scum (talkcontribs).

[edit] Bone Arrows

I have been using the bone arrows, duplicated, and they seem to fly straighter than any other arrow, almost staying level whenever I shoot from a far way away. I haven't confirmed this but can someone test it out please? Can'treadtheElderScrolls 17:57, 25 September 2008 (EDT)

[edit] Gatekeeper Disappears

Moved from main article:

Sometimes the gatekeeper is not there.

Some more information, such as what may cause this bug, or even other instances in which this has occurred would be helpful. Vesna 11:47, 25 December 2008 (EST)

This is actually a true bug, it may of been fixed in one of the patches, basically I don't know anything about it but the gatekeeper didn't kill the advernturers. 2 advernturers practised fighting. I used the console to kill the adventurers to try and fix it. No luck, I've basically done the quest without a gatekeeper, I tried using the console to spawn a gatekeeper but it just knocks him unconcious. There appears to be no way to continue the questline. no matter what you do then it says talk to haskill who won't appear because you haven't killed the gatekeeper stopping you from ever entering the isles. spawning Haskill doesn't seem to work either as he will have no dialogue. Any help would be appreciated.--Repeater 14:09, 14 May 2009 (EDT)

[edit] Wabbajack

It says the Wabbajack is supposed to work on the Gatekeeper, but I've tried twice and the Gatekeeper always stays the same... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.43.180.154 (talkcontribs) on 14 May 2009.

I've deleted that comment entirely. Wabbajack definitely doesn't work - the GateKeeper (all versions) is in the NoWabba Faction, whose members are explicitly excluded from the effects of Wabbajack. The Sanguine Rose note is just weird - nothing is affected by the rose - it just summons a daedra. I removed the Mehrunes Razor note because although it's true, it's only worth noting things that aren't affected. –RpehTCE 12:09, 14 May 2009 (EDT)

[edit] Both Powers Bug

Playing on a PS3, attempted to use the bug to get both door powers. The site is right in that the power gained is before the auto-save; however, when I reload and enter the other door, I do not get the second power. For clarification, I went through the door to dementia, got power, then it auto-saves. I reload the auto-save, and I have yet to open either door while possessing the power of dementia (demoralize 48 pts etc). When the door to mania is opened, I receive the quest update as normal, but no power of mania is given. Perhaps, after someone seconds this (as I have now reloaded several times to no avail), this can be removed (as in the exploit doesn't work)? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.37.203.118 (talkcontribs) on 28 May 2009.

As I recall (I'm the one who added it), you don't get both powers, nor did I mean to imply that you could. The point was that you get the power, then the auto-save kicks in, so if you re-load and you're expecting to get the power as you go through the door, you won't. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 21:29, 7 June 2009 (EDT)

[edit] Tears?

I used the tears method my second time through the Isles, only I didn't notice the handkerchief so I didn't actually pick up the tears, but the gate keep was glowing red so I went and attacked him and it seemed to work. I think it was because because it was so recently after the lady was crying near him. I'm going to retry this now to see what happens. Silkysmooth 22:26, 10 June 2009 (EDT)

[edit] Quest Items?

I got Relmyna's tears but I did not use all of them. Now there are two bottles of them in my inventory and I can not drop them as they are marked as quest items. I will try simply wasting them, but do they ever become non-quest items? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.104.145.169 (talkcontribs) on 03:37, 30 June 2009 (UTC).

Most likely not, but if you are on the PC, you can use setquestobject <BaseID> 0. --Elliot(T-C) 03:37, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Charity of Madness

It's the reward for the quest, you receive it from Sheogorath when you to talk to him at the end of the quest. For some reason it is listed as the reward for the next quest, somebody should fix this. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 79.177.115.9 (talkcontribs) on 24 July 2009.

Fixed. You can always fix things like that yourself, incidentally. –rpehTCE 17:32, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
