Angeline Morrard

Angeline Morrard, a Breton apothecary, is the proprietor of Angeline's Aromatics in Solitude. Her niece, Vivienne Onis assists her in the store, and takes over ownership of the store if her aunt dies. Angeline used to sell perfumes for use in homes before the war, hence the store's name; she now caters to adventurers and soldiers.

Angeline wears a set of merchant clothes, a pair of boots, and a hat. She carries a key to her store, and a selection of common loot and gold.

If you ask Angeline for Alchemy training, she declines, saying she's just a simple herbalist, and refers you to Lami in Morthal or Arcadia in Whiterun.

Angeline will ask you if you have been to Whiterun. If you tell her you have, she will ask for news about her daughter. If you say you have no news but are willing to bring some back to her, Angeline will mention that her daughter was stationed in Whiterun after joining the Imperial Army. She asks you to talk to Captain Aldis for information about her daughter.

No News is Good News[edit]

She can start the quest with either of these lines:

"You're a traveller, correct? Have you been to Whiterun?"
"It's good to see a fresh face. You wouldn't have happen to come from Whiterun would you?"

You can answer her question with:

No, sorry. I haven't been to Whiterun before.
"Ah well, it was a long shot."
Actually, yes.
"Wonderful. I hadn't really hoped to run in to someone who had been there."
You mentioned something about Whiterun before?
"My daughter, Fura, was assigned to Whiterun after she joined the Imperial Army. I was hoping you might have met her.
I haven't heard from her lately. I've tried talking to Captain Aldis but he hasn't been any help."
I'm sorry, I've never met her before.
"Ah, well I guess it was unlikely. I'm sorry to waste your time."
I haven't met her, but I could try to get more information.
"Oh that's very sweet of you. Anything you can find out from Captain Aldis would be welcome news."

When spoken to after returning from speaking to Captain Aldis:

I have some news about your daughter.
"You got Aldis to tell you something? I knew you would. What did he say?"
Angela [sic]... Mrs. Morrard... your daughter is dead.
"I told her. I told her the imperial [sic] army would kill her. That this was a war of Jarls and Imperial Generals and we had no part in it.
She just wouldn't hear it.
It was brave of you to come to me with this. I can't thank you for it, not for this, but you have done me a service."

Dialogue[edit]

When approached:

"Ah, welcome to Angela's [sic] Aromatics. Can I help with some herbal needs?"
"Feel free to look around. We have a fine selection of herbs here at Angela's [sic] Aromatics."
"So, what are your needs? Perhaps a pinch of this, and a bit of that? Hmm?"

When spoken to directly:

Can you train me in Alchemy?
"No, no. Mostly, I'm just a simple herbalist. Lami over in Morthal should be able to help you." or "No, no. I'm just a simple herbalist. You'll want to see Arcadia, over in Whiterun."
Aromatics? So you sell perfumes?
"We mostly carry herbs and alchemical ingredients, that sort of thing. Before the war, our stock was mostly used for aromatic use in homes, yes.
These days, we have more people like you coming in, looking for healing and the like."

You can invest in her business:

I'd like to make an investment in your business.
"Splendid! With the extra coin, I'll be able to purchase twice the volume in supplies that I normally do."
Let's see what you can do with this.
"I'll call upon my suppliers this very evening and arrange to double my orders."

When exiting conversation with her she can say:

"Thanks again for finding out about my daughter."
"Don't forget me next time you need herbs and potions."

Conversations[edit]

Angeline may have some short conversations with her niece Vivienne in her store:

Angeline: "Vivienne, could you check out supplies of mandrake root?"
Vivienne: "Which one is that again?"
Angeline: "It's the root that looks like an ugly little man."
Vivienne: "In that case, I'm pretty sure it tried to buy me a drink last night."

Notes[edit]

  • Angeline refers to herself as "Angela" in her dialogue, and she is referred to by that name during the quest No News is Good News as well.

Bugs[edit]

  • When investing gold in Angeline's store, the chat option does not disappear. Therefore it is possible to invest repeatedly in her shop. However, because of the way the script works, she does not retain this gold. Consequently it is impossible for her base gold to be raised by the investing perk.
