Fetch a book for Urag gro-Shub. Quest Giver: Urag gro-Shub Location(s): The Arcanaeum Reward: small amount of leveled gold ID: MGR20, MGR20B

Urag gro-Shub wants you to find books for the Arcanaeum.

Radiant Options

This is a radiant quest which you can only receive from the following person:

The book that you are asked to find is randomly selected from the following list. The book is located in the boss-level chest of any dungeon in the game, meaning that your destination is randomly selected from 141 possible dungeons.

The books in the list are never skill books, and the monetary reward you get from Urag for returning a book is very small in proportion to the amount of work required to fetch it. However, this quest should be regarded as a means for locating dungeons in Skyrim. The various loot you find in the dungeons will be considerably more valuable than the book.

Quick Walkthrough

1. Talk to Urag gro-Shub.
2. Retrieve the requested book.
3. Return to Urag gro-Shub.

Notes

• The two different quest IDs correspond to two nearly identical quests. In particular, the lists of possible books and lists of possible dungeons are the same for both quests.
• Success will make you Blood-Kin with the Orcs (if you aren't already).

Bugs

• If you find the book before activating the quest, you will be stuck with it. The quest will point to the chest, and the book won't be there, and can't be returned. Once this has happened, you will be stuck with any additional copies you pick up as well, even if you activate the quest before getting a second copy.
  • This bug is fixed by version 1.9.26.0.8 of the Official Skyrim Patch.
  • Use player.drop "book ID" "quantity" to drop and retake the book to complete the quest.
• If there is no quest marker pointing you to the book's location, the book may be located in The Katariah, in which case the book can not be reached until the quest Hail Sithis! begins.
  • This bug is fixed by version 1.2 of the Unofficial Skyrim Patch.
• The side quest given by Urag gro-Shub "Find the copy of Cleansing of the Fane" may point to the wrong location instead of Shadowgreen Cavern. ^?
• Use player.setstage MGR20 20 and then player.setstage MGR20 200 to set the book as picked up and turn the book in (respectively). It does not matter which book he asked for, this command works for all.

Notes

• Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
• Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
• Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
• If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
• On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage quest stage, where quest is the internal name of the quest, and stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest using resetquest quest, where quest is the internal name of the quest.
