Kjeld the Younger

Kjeld the Younger is a Nord warrior living at Braidwood Inn in Kynesgrove. His parents, Iddra and Kjeld, manage the inn, as well as nearby Steamscorch Mine.

While the other miners sleep in the camp outside, Kjeld shares a room with his father at the Braidwood Inn where he sleeps every night between midnight and 7am. After a one-hour breakfast he enters the mine and spends eleven hours hacking away at the malachite ore, interrupted only by one-hour meals at noon and 6pm. At 7pm he spends a bit of time with the other miners in the camp before entering the inn for his bed at midnight.

He wears miner's clothes and a pair of boots. He uses a pickaxe in combat, and carries a spare iron dagger as well as lower class items and gold.

Dialogue[edit]

The younger Kjeld is rather cocky, and will often brag that he can beat you in a fight, although there is no option to brawl with him. He may rudely brush you off, or warn you that his father runs the town.

"You don't look so tough. I'll bet I could take you."
"I've never seen you before. Leave me alone!"
"Why are you still here?"
"My pa runs this town, and you're going to be in big trouble if you mess with me."

Conversations[edit]

While he appears to be cocky, Kjeld the Younger is, in reality, nothing but a huge child, as evident by the conversations he has with his parents. Note that Kjeld the Younger was supposed to have a sister named Froa, but she is nowhere to be found in the game, although the conversations can still be heard:

"I'm going to need your help in the kitchen tomorrow."
Kjeld the Younger: "When do I get to go hunting?"
Kjeld: "When you're able to draw a bow all the way to your shoulder."
Kjeld the Younger: "I can do that! I did it yesterday!"
Kjeld: "Oh, really?"
Kjeld the Younger: "So can I come?"
Kjeld: "We'll see."
Kjeld the Younger: "And then I told her about the vampires and how much they would pay me for her."
Kjeld: "That is rich. What did she do?"
Kjeld the Younger: "She's a girl. She cried."
Kjeld: "It's good to toughen her up. Not an easy world out here. Keep at it."
Iddra: "I'm going to need your help in the kitchen tomorrow."
Kjeld the Younger: "But papa was going to take me hunting tomorrow!"
Iddra: "Oh, I don't think you're old enough for that yet. You can help me salt the cheese curd."
Kjeld the Younger: "Why can't Froa do it?"
Iddra: "Because I'm telling you to."
"Papa, mama's making me do kitchen work again."

In the following conversation, Kjeld the Younger's dialogue is incorrectly attributed to his father and vice-versa.

Kjeld the Younger: "Papa, mama's making me do kitchen work again."
Kjeld: "And what did you say to that?"
Kjeld the Younger: "She can't tell me what to do!"
Kjeld: "There you go, son. Be your own man!"
Iddra: "You need to take better care of your sister."
Kjeld the Younger: "But she's so stupid!"
Iddra: "She said you threw her into a goat pen yesterday."
Kjeld the Younger: "Because she was being stupid!"
Iddra: "Don't make me bring your father into this."
Kjeld the Younger: "Mama, when can we go play in the river again?"
Iddra: "Not with all those soldiers all over the hold. Their horses can't see you, you know."
Kjeld the Younger: "I know, but..."
Iddra: "And you'll be trampled to death!"
Kjeld the Younger: "No way. I'm quick!"
Iddra: "Well why don't you be quick about finding my book that you lost?"
