Lost Prospect Mine entrance.

Lost Prospect Mine is an abandoned gold mine which is thought to be depleted.

On first inspection, it seems there is nothing of note in the mine. The entrance leads to a central room with a small pool of water and three other paths. Each path is a short dead-end mostly full of junk items, except for a leveled mace in the tunnel to the left from where you enter the central area. A miner's journal confirms that the mine is likely tapped out and the previous owner, Bern, disappeared without a trace.

The real treasure in the mine lies above the pool of water with the waterfall. Accessing the ledge behind the pool, either by jumping from a nearby ledge or using Whirlwind Sprint, reveals a short passage ending in an alcove containing three gold ore veins. A skeleton, presumably Bern's, lies crushed beneath a rock fall, revealing his likely fate.

Followers may follow you to the tunnel with the ore veins, but will probably get stuck there, unless you command them to stay and wait.

Besides the gold veins, the mine also contains a significant amount of mushrooms to harvest for Alchemy purposes.
