Anomaly Amount[edit]

Anyone know how many of these anomalies there are? have just been told of a second one - not sure if this is a bug (as have had other college quests appear twice) or whether this quest is supposed to reoccur? Alonella 19:37, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Its a buggy Quest — Unsigned comment by 217.121.85.100 (talk) at 14:09 on 17 December 2011

same thing happened on xbox. John142` 21:08, 17 December 2011

() That sounds more like it's a recurring radiant quest, like The Dark Brotherhood Forever. The multiple locations certainly seems to indicate this. Starbucksisevil 23:54, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Could be, haven't done the second iteration yet, but ... have had a lot of college quests appear twice n not again .... not sure how to tell the difference tho ... Alonella 00:10, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Let me clear this up a bit. Any quest that appears twice is a radiant quest. Radiant meaning recurring. Removed the bug stating the twice quest radiancy.--Shm0key 16:28, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
Excellent - thanks for the definition, things are now starting to make more sense:))
Now for the next question ... how is a radiant quest identified in the wikki? I read this article the first time I did the quest and had no idea that it was going to reoccur... other radiant quests are marked e.g. A few words with you "(radiant quest)" appears in its quest description also 'quest locations' is listed as "Radiant" (I think this is a special option?) so, logically, this quest description should look like the other radiant quests and not like a non-radiant quest??? which begs the question of what does one do to make it so?
PS have commented out the bugs section of the article as there are now no bugs... Alonella 21:27, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Missing the quest activation[edit]

If you don't ask Tolfdir "Is there anything I should know?" during the conversation right after you finish with Ancano, you don't get the option again. This is kind of annoying since I have been able to avoid a number of glitches in the game by not having complete, continuous conversations with questgivers. Apparently, the script to initiate the quest only exists at that point and it must be selected during that conversation. Luckily, I am on PC so I can probably initiate it with setstage. (Haven't tried yet, I'm doing some master quests first.) If not, I presume that I'll be stuck with having to randomly find and destroy all the magic anomalies so that the quest will autoinitiate itself at stage 20. This could be a real bummer for PS3 and X-Box players. Lazar 04:25, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Using 'setstage MGR30 10' did work. It initiated the quest and Tolfdir had the original script line back. Although my Quest Log did not show a descriptive, Tolfdir told me where I needed to go and it showed up on the map. The quest finished cleanly with all stages completed except stage 201, which indicates that this is a radiant quest and I'll probably have it again later.
Note for PS3 and X-Box: If you miss the quest activation and have to do it the hard way by closing the rupture in order to activate the quest, keep an eye out for a pale blue haze about the size of a troll. My location, on two runs, was East of the Winterhold Stables past the second farm. As you approach some rocks near the top of the rise in the road, it was about 50 yards to the right. Good luck hunting. Lazar 07:12, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
I was able to initiate this quest long after I had completed the Eye of Magnus questline (I would estimate at least 10 game days). The dialogue option with Tolfdir was present on a subsequent visit to the College. I am running the PC version with the latest patches. Xyzzy 15:25, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
I just ran into this issue myself. There might be a time delay for the quest activation. Tng88 04:57, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
On the PC I received an onscreen prompt to "talk to Tolfdir; although no Misc quest was created. The conversation topic was then in the menu, but not Highlighted as being renewed. — Unsigned comment by 92.13.118.46 (talk) at 14:55 on 17 November 2012

[PC] If you're stuck with a rupture that doesn't generate anomalies...[edit]

select it in the console and "disable" and "enable" it back. — Unsigned comment by 87.79.75.43 (talk) at 21:07 on 9 August 2013

Does anyone have the rupture baseID or even know what it's called when you select it? I tried "help rupture 4", but that doesn't return any results. 66.69.36.26 01:38, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
You wouldn't need its baseID gut rather its refID, which you can obtain by clicking on it while your console is open. To see if you have selected the right object, use the disable command and see if it vanishes. (Be sure to re-enable it afterwards) -- SarthesArai Talk 16:06, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I was in a rush and didn't explain. There was that glitch where the rupture doesn't even appear. I thought spawning a new one would do the trick. It turns out you can spawn three anomalies by "player.placeatme 00053F1D 3" in console, then kill them. That updates the quest to speak to Tolfdir. 66.69.36.26 21:44, 30 August 2015 (UTC)

Respawning?[edit]

I completed Aftershock, the rupture was at Windstad. I fast traveled away and when I came back, the rupture had reappeared. Is this quest repatable, or is this a bug? Will the rupture always spawn infront of my house now? Any one else with this problem? I play on the PS3 legendary edition, so only official patches and DLCs. 24.114.92.241 13:29, 21 August 2013 (GMT)

Seems to have been a one time thing, after reloading an earlier save and repeating the process, the rupture doesn't appear. Seems to have fixed itself. 24.114.92.241 14:07, 21 August 2013 (GMT)
