There is a Dwarven Sphere Centurion Arrow in the Dwemer Museum which it appears you cannot pickup? --77.36.50.9 13:23, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

Dwarven Sphere Centurion Arrow is a unique item for your follower only, like the Giant's Bone weapon --pms00 — Unsigned comment by 98.176.242.147 (talk) at 20:42 on 17 January 2012
I just found it -- its in the dwemmer museum, I didnt have a follower with me to grab it but since it was like the giants club ill assume they can grab it. (Eddie The Head 12:20, 19 January 2012 (UTC))
CONFIRMED- your follower CAN pick it up... However, i can not seem to find it in their inventory when i try to trade items (ps3; Legendary Edition; Marcurio [battle mage]) — Unsigned comment by RobotD (talkcontribs) at 00:45 on 28 December 2016

Make your own[edit]

Is it possible to smith or make arrows?- Azurome 09:46, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

yeah, the dawnguard expansion allows the player to craft arrows and bolts. Al-Muat 21:39, January 29, 2013
If you are on the vampire's team, can you still make arrows? — Unsigned comment by 64.251.49.148 (talk) at 12:57 on 2 May 2014
Yes, the expansion adds the ability for arrows, it's only bolts that would be locked from the list if you go with the vampires. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:18, 2 May 2014 (GMT)

Unlimited Arrows of your choice[edit]

Simply take a single arrow of your choice and find one of the many guards that only fires arrows into a target all day. When he sleeps, steal his steel arrows and replace it with the arrow you want. Next morning, the guard will be firing arrows again only he's turned your one arrow into as many as you want/can be asked to pick up; Daedric Arrows work perfectly with this trick. — Unsigned comment by 78.145.225.243 (talk) on 24 November 2011

It is also possible to get ammo while practicing heavy/light armor. If you go to a dungeon early on with bandits, the dungeon will be stuck at the level you first entered as. Pickpocket and replace the arrows, taking away their melee weapons if necessary (Need perks sometimes. Have not checked if bandits automatically use stronger arrows if reversed pickpocketed onto them). Some bandits will prefer to use bows and arrows and some melee weapons. If you approach those that use bows and arrows, they'll pull out a melee weapon. If you back up, they'll pull out their arrow and stay with their bow and arrow and won't come in close to attack with a melee weapon. Although the chances of picking up the arrow your shot at with isn't 100%, you can let yourself get shot at by a bandit (one that has those arrows) and leave the game on overnight if you have Skyrim for PC and with little interference on the 360/PS3 (You can possibly rubberband the controller joystick for looking around) and you can find yourself with over a thousand arrows overnight. That is, should your health regeneration be over the damage taken. Approximately 550-600 armor rating will allow two lvl 1 bandits to constantly assault you with melee weapons in the master difficulty. Bandits with bow and arrows do less damage than that since they attack slower and miss time to time and thus you can probably sustain your life with 400 Armor rating in Master difficulty. You can lower the difficulty to easy and the damage onto you goes from 2x to x/2. — Unsigned comment by 98.228.252.64 (talk) at 06:20 on 10 December 2011
(PC Only) other way of getting Unlimited Arrows is to use the TGM from the console Commands list. just aim somewhere around you like a Tree and keep fire at and then collect the arrows from the Tree — Unsigned comment by 108.129.68.120 (talk) at 21:27 on March 6, 2012
If you're using the console, why would you enable TGM, then spend half an hour shooting a tree when you could simply give yourself more arrows? - BalthCat (talk) 15:14, 1 February 2014 (GMT)

Great idea! It helps out a ton since the PS3 unfortunately doesn't have the beloved "Console Command". Cjesseg (talk) 20:42, 12 March 2014 (GMT)

bound arrow?[edit]

is there actually a way to summon bound arrows? (Eddie The Head 06:31, 14 December 2011 (UTC))

Bound arrows actually come with casting the bound bow spell. You get 100 everytime you summon. I used to freak out because i would see ghost arrows all over the place, until i realized i was the one shooting them lol. — Unsigned comment by Hope (talkcontribs) at 06:39 on 14 December 2011

Nord Hero Arrow[edit]

Does it replace Ancient Nord Arrow as drop or something? 178.183.234.174 13:10, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

I'd also like to know where I can find these. I'm getting tired of Daedric Arrows. 173.196.183.131 11:19, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
It seems it's in the game, but unobtainable in any way... nice. Probably was supposed to be craftable from Ancient Nord Arrows and Iron Ignots, but was scrapped along with all the other arrow crafting. 178.183.241.136 12:15, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
Why does the Ammunition page say these arrows are obtainable when they clearly are not? 98.165.191.39 16:16, 26 November 2012 (GMT)
I corrected that, there is no indication of Eorlund selling them or them being available otherwise. Dawnguard didn't add a crafting recipe for them. --Alfwyn (talk) 16:31, 26 November 2012 (GMT)

Maximum Arrow-on-Ground Cap[edit]

I tested this out because I used to freak out from arrows sticking out from everywhere after battles, and came to the following conclusions: Player's/Everybodies(?) max amount of "Arrows-that-Stay-after-being-fired" = 15

Every ADDITIONAL fired Arrow makes the first one disappear, then the next arrow replaces the second arrow shot, etc., so there's no real "savegame overload" from arrows sticking in everything, since this seems to apply to EVERYBODIES Arrows; meaning, 10 Guards shooting arrows, would create a large amount of "stuck arrows", but every second shot 'd remove the same amount from the world (needs testing).

Anyway, for all who care, it is NEVER gonna bloat the savegame, there is a cap of 15 Arrows (maybe in TOTAL, what I think, or per Person), and that wouldn't impact on the game's performance.--MarukiTheFaceHater 16:08, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Rusty arrow[edit]

I keep seeing rusty arrows from time to time. I am assuming there from nord or iron maybe steel arrows being shot at you. Anyone know for sure? — Unsigned comment by Hiddenbearrug (talkcontribs) at 05:26 on 21 January 2012

I've only ever found a single one. It wasn't fired at me by an enemy, but it was one of those sticking-straight-up-out-of-the-ground arrows you sometimes find outdoors. I'm thinking that these standing up arrows are arrows that were fired and remained unclaimed the last time you were in that cell/zone. When you return to that cell, the loose arrows respawn upright. (There are a bazillion sources of someone else's spent arrows in a cell: Hunters, Legion vs Stormcloak skirmishes, Bandits, etc.) Evil-i 00:16, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
Seems like the rusty arrows relate to the fabled 'arrow in the knee' joke featured by the city/town guards - congratulations, you found one of the more obscure 'easter eggs' scattered around by the dev's.
Becky 82.42.137.16 10:46, 8 December 2012 (GMT)
QAAmmoContainer, dunReachwaterRockSigdisDuplicate, and dunGeirmundSigdisDuplicate
are the only actors in ck that make use of Rusty Arrow, possibly created to balance the fight [4 vs 10 damage]
[the only unique bow guaranteed to be used against the player while facing two of the same expert archer]
the arrows page already mentions either Geirmund's Hall or the quest finale of Forbidden Legend in Reachwater Rock,
that it would be very easy to gather floating arrows while searching the bodies of slain draugrs after the battle.
longpinkytoes 17:52, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
Something else that's strange about these arrows: When fired from a bow, they have the name "Ancient Nord Arrow". Not just the Sigdis duplicates do this; Rusty Arrows fired from the player's bow will appear as Ancient Nord Arrow. But if you pick them up, they enter your inventory as Rusty Arrow, and if you drop them, they have the name Rusty Arrow. They only claim to be Ancient Nord Arrows when fired from a bow. Very strange. Arrow Quiver Glitch PC (Sometimes)[edit]

I have found a glitch that seems to happen at random with arrow quivers. Sometimes when you sell off a bunch of arrows to a vendor and then go into 3rd person point of view to look at your character the quiver will still be on your back. I ran a test on this and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the type of arrow or whether you have them equipped or not when you sell them to a vendor. It just seems to happen at random. I've also have noticed that when you loot an NPC that has arrows on them the quiver remains on the corpse but not every time. So again this issue seems to be a random glitch. The best way to fix it until a patch is made is to buy some more arrows and equip them then unequip them. I tested this and it fixed the problem. Anyways, that is all. Damage Formula - aka Displayed Damage[edit]

This has been marked as a question that needs to be answered.

The damage formula on the Weapon Page doesn't take ammunition into account. How does different ammo adjust the damage done?216.135.89.138 20:45, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

The arrow damage value, as listed, is added directly onto the formula total and does not vary by level - ie, a Foresworn Arrow always adds x to the total, an Eleven Arrow always adds y, etc.
Becky 82.42.137.16 10:53, 8 December 2012 (GMT)
Becky's almost right. However arrow damage does increase with your Archery skill and perks. --Morrolan (talk) 18:46, 27 March 2013 (GMT)
No, it doesn't, at least where listed damage is concerned. Did you even try testing this out before posting?
When you look at the stats for your bow or crossbow in your inventory, you can see the total is the (base damage plus any smithing bonus)times your (skill bonus), (perks) and worn (fortify marksman enchants). If you select an arrow type from a variety in your inventory, that base damage is added to the bow or crossbow damage and the total is displayed at the bottom of the screen. When you achieve a successful sneak attack, both the full bow damage and the arrow damage are multiplied appropriately(2x default or 3x with perk in sneak). If you take a fortify marksman potion and look at your weapons and ammo in your inventory, you will see the damage for everything is boosted by the potion. If you then manage a sneak attack, both the boosted weapon and boosted arrow get the appropriate multiplier. Example: Tested by taking 158% marksman potion and looking at the info for my steel arrows in the inventory(normal is 10 damage, displays 26 damage while potion is active). This is on the PC, Legendary edition patch 1.9 with no mods installed(not even the unofficial patch).Jtenorj (talk) 18:38, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

Unique Iron Arrow[edit]

After the Bandits move into Helgen, you can find a single Iron Arrow sticking out of the archery target in the courtyard area. Its Stats for weight and value are the same as the standard Iron Arrow, but the damage stat is rated at 1, while the standard Iron Arrow does 8 damage.

The "Take" prompt shows on-screen when you move the cursor over this arrow, but the arrow won't be transferred to your inventory. A Follower won't take the arrow either, when commanded to do so. It can be grabbed and carried around, but it will fall through the ground when dropped.Evil-i 15:53, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

This is the CWArrow. It doesn't have the playable flag set. --Alfwyn (talk) 16:45, 26 November 2012 (GMT)

Crossbows & Bolts[edit]

The default crossbow and steel bolts are available whichever side you choose, but can only be crafted if you side with the Dawnguard. If you side with the vampires, you cannot craft any type of crossbow or bolts, you can only acquire them through raiding Dwemer ruins and killing sphere centurions, or killing/pickpocketing Dawnguard members. This article should definitely reflect that. Rye 02:30, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Done. Vely►t►e 02:46, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
Just a sidenote, it already reflected it if you looked at the table and intnote, just not the main description for bolts. ABCface 03:34, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Missing Crossbow Bolt[edit]

Dwaven spheres shoot a type of bolt that causes fire damage (Same as a fire spell or enchantment) can't see it on the page.KingKTalk 18:27, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

I'm guessing it's the "Dwarven Sphere Centurion Arrow", listed in the Arrows section rather than Bolts. If so, that info should be added in the Notes column for that row, but it needs CK verification to be sure. ABCface 05:59, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Thats not a bolt its an arrow. It does not have fire damage either tho so its probably not what he is looking for. I assume he wants the darts mentioned on Dwarven Automatons page? Those are the "Dwemer Bolt" mentioned on this page however they do not cause fire damage either. There is also a "Dart" (000236dd) but again those don't have fire damage, also I think those are from dart traps. However all of these items use a bow and do not show up in your inventory, the only way to equip them is to add them with console then run out of ammo and it will switch to them. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 06:48, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
I only assumed that based on the item name, but looking at the two Dwemer Bolts in CSList, they both have "DwarvenSphere" as part of their editor ID, so maybe these are the ones used by spheres, and the dart is actually what's used by traps (also makes sense, considering that editor ID is "TrapDart")? As for the fire damage, is it possible it uses something else in game data to add the fire damage, rather than placing it on the bolts themselves? ABCface 07:17, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
No the arrows in on about are only used by dwarven spheres, I specifically remember taking fire damage from them as I took the sphere into an empty room and let it attack me each time I started burning (Like when u jump into a blacksmith forge. Also these bolts look like a shorter version of the Dwrven sphere centurion arrow in the Dwemer museum. KingKTalk 16:42, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Turns out it is on the Dwemer page, they are used by high level dwarven spheres and cause 5pts of fire damage.KingKTalk 17:16, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Dwemer Bolts[edit]

I think Dwemer Bolts should be moved to Skyrim:Unobtainable Items. They're not actually bolts, and the player can't pick them up. —Legoless (talk) 18:03, 8 December 2012 (GMT)

Followers and crossbow bolts[edit]

From the testing i have done it seems followers wont equip the bolts they are given until they enter a different cell from the one they are in, also they will actually use up bolts as they fire them. Is their a workaround for this? — Unsigned comment by 98.255.152.189 (talk) at 06:06 on 3 January 2013

All ammunition is used up by followers except when they are using their hidden hunting bows. Since crossbows are not hidden hunting bows, they will always use them up.
The good news is that after trawling through a couple Dwarven ruins, you should have enough dwarven ingots to make a few hundred bolts to give your crossbow-wielding follower. Well, that's if you're playing on the Dawnguard side anyway, you don't get to learn how to make bolts if you're on the Volkihar side. --Morrolan (talk) 01:33, 1 October 2013 (GMT)

Minor bug with Crossbow bolt pouch[edit]

Occasionally, I've angled my camera certain directions in third person and noticed that parts of the crossbow bolt pouch/case were invisible, revealing the bolts inside. It was fixed by loading a different cell/area/etc., such as going into an inn. Just thought this was an important enough bug to bring up. And I was curious if anyone else has had this problem. -Light-in-His-Eyes (talk) 03:49, 26 February 2013 (GMT)

Daedric arrows` availability[edit]

Are all types of arrows(excluding ancient nord, rusty, falmer, forsworn and unique ones) available for sale? Cause I would like to use only daedric arrows,so a large stack of them(around 500 is satisfying) would be nice.Ironically, I've seen every type for sale EXCEPT daedric-only found a few in treasure chests. It is ever possible to buy them(maybe after reaching a high-enough level or from a certain NPC)? — Unsigned comment by 78.63.204.31 (talk) at 13:11 on 10 July 2013

Daedric arrows aren't available to buy. You can either start forging them (with Hearthfire), or pickpocket them onto some NPCs, such as the guards in Solitude, that shoot at targets, thus gaining a never-ending supply. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 13:41, 10 July 2013 (GMT)
Daedric arrows are available to buy. You can find them at Fihada's (the fletcher's shop) in Solitude. There may be other vendors, I am not certain. However, I have a screen shot if verification is needed for Fihada's. Kalevala (talk) 00:25, 1 October 2013 (GMT)
Daedric arrows are only available at the Solitude fletcher, and only when you've reached a minimum level that I haven't yet been able to determine. However they are definitely available there, that's usually where I get mine. --Morrolan (talk) 01:29, 1 October 2013 (GMT)
I have also bought daedric arrows from Glover Mallory in Raven Rock, and from the Dark Elf who runs the general store there (forget his name). In addition, if you choose the Black Market power from the Black Book Untold Legends, the Dremora Merchant you summon will have from 9 to 12 daedric arrows in his inventory. Robinwitch1 (talk) 08:03, 21 November 2013 (GMT)
I know this topic is old now, but if your character has a high enough level, Thieves Guild caches will have daedric arrows too. Jtenorj (talk) 10:50, 14 October 2022 (UTC)

Arrows sticking straight up notable?[edit]

I always seem to find that after leaving an area and returning that all arrows on the ground are pointed straight down and easier to find. Do other people (besides one above) experience this and should it be a note?--69.136.59.17 05:09, 29 July 2013 (GMT)

Happens to me too. It also happens if you quit the game and then reload it later. Maybe it should be a note. --Morrolan (talk) 02:02, 1 October 2013 (GMT)

Dragonborn additions[edit]

Nordic arrows are in, but stahlrim and riekling spears are not? 74.109.6.198 15:55, 20 October 2013 (GMT)
You do not load spears into another device in order to throw them. They are a ranged weapon, but not ammunition. Vely►t►e 16:23, 20 October 2013 (GMT)
I would disagree. While the rieklings throw the spears, the player can only treat them as arrows, and the game classifies them as ammunition like any other arrow. --AN|L (talk) 16:52, 20 October 2013 (GMT)
Anil's right, the other two should be added if Nordic are on here as well. — ABCface 22:12, 20 October 2013 (GMT)

The chart at the bottom should definitely be updated to include Stalhrim and whatever else it is missing. Does anyone know who made that chart originally? Is anyone willing to take on the task of making a new one? 73.109.157.181 19:24, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

Strange glitch with bolts[edit]

I can see being able to recover steel and dwarven bolts from bodies, but you can also recover and reuse the exploding variety of bolt. These should be one-use only, since after all, they do blow up. Robinwitch1 (talk) 08:08, 21 November 2013 (GMT)

Nord hero arrows[edit]

In my game, I have all DLC, I can craft Nord hero arrows the same way you'd make a Nord hero sword with 25 arrows at a time. I don't believe this is a mod, so I'll look it up... — Unsigned comment by Seerk1 (talkcontribs) at 16:39 on 16 February 2014‎

There's simply no recipe referencing it in the original game data. And the only place to find it is some QA container in an normally inaccessible cell. Even my version of the USKP doesn't change that fact. So either they changed that, or it is indeed some other mod. --Alfwyn (talk) 17:00, 16 February 2014 (GMT)
Apparently it was 24 arrows at a time, just like all other arrows. After a little research it would appear that it was added to the list by the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch. — Unsigned comment by Seerk1 (talkcontribs) at 09:09 on 17 February 2014
This is what it said in the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch changelog: "There was no constructable object recipe for Nord Hero Arrows created when arrow crafting was introduced. (Bug #11962)", which means it's been fixed. Or so I'd presume, anyone else beside me have it fixed? Seerk1 (talk) 00:06, 18 February 2014 (GMT)

Crafting Bolts[edit]

Under the table of bolt types, it says "† Crafting crossbows and bolts is only possible at Gunmar's forge in Fort Dawnguard, which does not appear until after A New Order (must side with the Dawnguard)." This is only partially true. I can craft the bolts at any forge, it is the crossbow and exploding bolts that have to be crafted at Gunmar's forge. I'm asking if someone can confirm this and change it, because I don't know how to edit a table. And who knows, I may have an odd bug. -- Sees-the-Stars (talk) 17:30, 24 July 2014 (GMT)

No, you're right. In fact I noticed that mistake several years ago, I thought I fixed it. Well going to fix it now. --Morrolan (talk) 22:41, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
