Unable to Obtain this Item[edit]

I have been unable to activate, interact, damage, or harvest the ancestral moths within Ancestor Glade during or after completing the Dawnguard DLC. Are the moths here not meant to be harvested? Are there moths elsewhere that can be harvested? Is this a bug (pun not intended)? Garland the Elder 15:36, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

I placed the information on the page based on this record which has a script identical to those for Blue Butterfly, Monarch Butterfly, and Luna Moth, but going back to a save before the Ancestor Glade, I'm unable to activate the ones that are flying either ABCface 16:18, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
There are moths that light on some of the flora. The ones flying are merely graphics. — Unsigned comment by 108.16.143.23 (talk) at 01:01 on 3 August 2012
Once someone with the CS takes a look, we can get the exact amount and loc of the lootable moths. I've found two bunches personally - both located on Mountian Flowers just over the ledge on N and SE corners.D521talk 02:22, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
I found the one to the North that you describe, but not the other one, after reentering.--Playerseekingbugs 04:35, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
1: When you first enter the main chamber go left along the wall until you get to the pink tree. From that tree turn toward the column of light in the center of the room. Walk forward to the very edge and look down, you should see a small ledge down below with a mountain flower on it and a group of moths landing on it.
2: Starting from the column of light in the center of the room turn West and you should see a stream with a set of stairs just to the left of it. Follow those stairs all the way up to the top then down along the wall of the cavern heading East under the waterfall until you reach a pink tree. From that pink tree turn toward the column of light in the center of the room and walk forward to the edge and look down. You should see a small ledge just below you with a mountain flower and a group of moths landing on it. 71.181.54.110 01:58, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
In one of my character files I've only been able to harvest 2 Ancestor Moths, once, and every time since then that I visit Ancestor Glade, there are NO harvestable moths. I've carefully watched every column of moths and every patch of flowers, and I've even tried the 2 locations mentioned above, but with no luck. There are no more moths to harvest. Can anyone look into the CK and see if the moths that are harvestable even respawn?! I know the flowers, the loot, and the enemies respawn, but I've never had the moths come back, which makes it frustrating since I don't dare use any of the 3 Ancestor Moth wings I have left for alchemy. Has anyone else had this happen to them? --Chocoholic (talk) 17:38, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
I couldn't find any when I was finishing the quest for the Dawnguard. I spent a good half hour looking for them, so I'm suspecting they don't show up until after the quest is completed; once I left the glade and came back I found a good deal of them in places otherwise empty. Can anyone confirm this? --Unregistered User 18 November 2016
Having just done the relevant Dawnguard quest that took me into the Ancestral Glade, I can confirm that I had NO problems collecting some Ancestor Moth Wings. The important thing to remember is that there are two types of Ancestor Moths in this cavern. There are the swarms of flying moths, which are not usable outside of the quest point where you attract them, and there are the individual moths that are down in the center of the glade. The second type CAN be collected, just like any other butterfly, but it only works for the moths that are in the immediate area of the tool and the column of light. If it helps, it is the same area where there is a large number of Yellow Mountain Flower. -- Griezz, 02:34, 29 May 2017

Alchemy oddity[edit]

Did you know that Ancestor Moth Wing, Blue Butterfly Wing, and Chaurus Hunter Antennae have the EXACT same effects? — Unsigned comment by 142.197.82.233 (talk) at 16:53 on 5 November 2013 (GMT)

I added the note to the pages in question, although it was already partially on most of them. Thank you for pointing this out! In the future, please try to keep a topic to one page, we'll notice it even if it is only on the one. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 16:53, 5 November 2013 (GMT)
